Great wee coffee shop, food was really good from hot rolls to soups and wraps and delicious range of cakes. Also liked the fact they provide a pot of hot water with your pot of tea so you can top up! Staff are friendly and welcoming and the gallery is an added bonus if you want to view and purchase a beautiful painting.

We had breakfast here. We ordered three scones, three cappuccinos, one espresso and one brunch. The coffees were average, the rest of the breakfast pretty good, and the prices were honest. The staff have been a bit rough, but the location is beautiful. It even offers a shop with some cute souvenirs.

The craft shop next door is quite cute however the cafe left a bit to be desired. The food was okay but for the price was poor value for money. It was expensive (£25 to have a ciabatta toastie, a jacket potato, a tea and a cup of squash) and not great quality or tasting food. I didn't have any cakes so they may be nice and homemade but personally I wouldn't recommend stopping here.

Ordered three jacket potatoes. One with tuna was just about acceptable but the two with beans and cheese were awful. Small spoonful of beans, sprinkling of tasteless cheese, no salt on the potatoes anywhere and they were microwaved. Rip off

Stopped on the way North. Good quality, fresh food made to order. Good value. Great homemade scones. Place is a bit dated and cold, they should stick a wood burner in a corner. They have the same kind of young, uninterested staff you get in anywhere like it in the UK, but we spoke to some lovely older staff too that balanced that out. Your granny would love it there.

So disappointed with this café. The table was dirty, the staff were sullen, even before I asked them to clean the table. Service was so slow .... 25mins for a bowl of soup and an egg mayo sandwich AFTER I ordered. The sandwich was two slices of dry bread with a dollop of tasteless egg mayo in the middle. Soup portion was literally half a cup. When food arrived it was just put on the table and I was told to go and get my cutlery myself. Couldn't face the wait for a coffee so left. Embarrassing to be there and see foreign tourists being served such bad food in such a bad way!

Been before and seemed OK, but just pretty average today. Maybe I picked bad options. The lentil soup had a weird tang to it, old onions or something. I hoped the sweet chilli ciabatta might be more than the ingredients list, but it was literally a ciabatta with pretty plain chilli chicken. I guess it's what it said it would be. None of it was bad enough to complain / send back - just wish wee cafés like this could up their game a bit!

Visited the area for a weeks late October walking holiday with our teenage son. We ended up having lunch here 3 times ! Each time we had a different soup - always two choices and it changes every day. Everyone was also diary free. Must recommend the Cauliflower Curry, Leek & Potato, Sweet potato & red peppers and the Spicy Vegetables soups. If your not sure they will bring you a sample in a small cup to try. Another tip if you want to exchange your roll that comes with your soup for a scone, cream & homemade jam they will do this and discount it off the price. Seems popular with locals as well ( always a good sign ) Other options - sandwiches & toasties on the menu. If you can't decide you can get a soup and sandwich combination. Lovely like find.

We drove past on the main road and my wife spotted this place and we turned off and came to it on the small local service road. We ordered our afternoon pot of tea together with scone cream and jam plus a delicious flap jack and were able to take to the delightful outside seating area at the side which was delightful. Lovely cakes, tea and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The inside was hardly being used as the weather was mild so everyone was sat outside but inside seemed nice too. Lovely experience.

Stopped off here for lunch, walked through the gift shop, which was ok, lots of touristy bits. We placed our order for food at the till, and the waitresses were friendly and helpful. We were going to sit outside, as indoors was full, but as we paid we were told a table was free, and after it was cleaned we sat down. Our food and drinks arrived promptly and our sandwiches were tasty.Unfortunately this is were it went downhill. An older man (who we presumed to be the manager) came along and began berating the waitresses right next to us - telling them off for how they were working and for where they were seating people. This carried on for around 10 minutes, with him leaving and then coming back with further complaints for them. As this was all taking place right next to where we were sitting it was very uncomfortable and awkward, and in the end we took the rest of our sandwiches with us and finished them in the car! Very unprofessional, and we felt bad for the waitresses who had been friendly and helpful to us.

Celebrating 50 years in business, and when you visit you'll understand why. Good menu, fair prices, and most importantly, real, made on the premises, delicious soup, food and home baking. Friendly staff and also a great craft shop too.

Called in here whilst on holiday in the area for coffee and cake. Great choice of homemade cakes and coffee was good too. Lovely gift shop and some lovely books about the area and hillwalking. Definitely recommend if you are in the area.

We know the Tongue area very well, and like to eat locally, so it was obvious we would decide to eat at the Craggan, and i'm happy we did! The restaurant area is welcoming and clean, staff friendly, and the car park was easy even with a big van. The only problem was choosing from the menu! So many tasty things - i wish we had more time to visit again.. All three of us enjoyed our food, and we shared everything so i know it was all delicious. Thank you for making a rather wet evening so special..

I recently had the pleasure of spending a delightful day at Dores Inn, and I still find myself reminiscing about the experience six months later. Nestled along the shores of the iconic Loch Ness, this charming inn offers a perfect blend of stunning views, a warm atmosphere, and exceptional service. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a lovely ambiance that sets the tone for a relaxing visit. The inn has ample seating, both indoors and outdoors, making it easy to find a cozy spot to enjoy the picturesque scenery. We opted for an outside table, and it turned out to be the best decision of the day. The views of the loch were absolutely breathtaking, providing a serene backdrop for our meal. Speaking of the meal, I must rave about the food—simply sublime! I usually find coleslaw unappealing, but Dores Inn's homemade version was a game changer. It was fresh, flavorful, and complemented our dishes beautifully. Every bite was a testament to the culinary care that goes into their offerings. After our satisfying meal, we joined a Rib-Boat journey on the loch, which was an exhilarating way to experience the surroundings. The thrill of speeding across the water, combined with the breathtaking views of the loch and its mythical charm, made for an unforgettable adventure. As a memento of our day, I couldn't resist purchasing one of their handmade crochet teddies of Nessie. It's now a cherished keepsake that brings back fond memories of our visit. To wrap up our day, we took a leisurely walk along the shoreline. The tranquility of the loch, coupled with the stunning natural beauty surrounding us, was the perfect ending to a fantastic day. Overall, Dores Inn exceeded my expectations in every way. From the lovely atmosphere and great views to the delectable food and friendly service, it’s a place I highly recommend. If you're looking for an exceptional day out near Loch Ness, don’t miss the opportunity to visit this gem. I still think about that wonderful day, and I can’t wait to return!

This was a lovely experience, the food was not ' swimming in grease' as i saw from another review, but it was great to see that the more recent reviews have been validated. We went here for my birthday at the end of october and honestly everything was really lovely . the service was great they were so friendly from the getgo, the charcuterie board we had for starter was very filling and diverse just wish they would have told us what the cheeses were ( i think the brie was from tain though it was familair) but thats a minor niggle that we had no info. the main courses were fab the skin on chips were AMAZING , and its a dog friendly place which we loved , we dont have dogs but we did get to pet some which made our day !
