The best restaurants in Edinburgh, City of Edinburgh and Lothian

Having read some previous reviews I had to double check I'd picked the correct restaurant to review! We had great food; dough balls and American hot pizzas - which were nicely hot! Our waiter was friendly and attentive.

Just returned home after a fabulous 2 night stay here. Rooms are amazing. And in such a fantastic building with great history. Huge beds,great bathrooms including a bath which these days many hotels don’t have. Hate showers!! Really warm room the whole time so no need to worry about it ever being cold. Very quiet to say it’s very central. Great touches like providing a decent hair dryer and GHD straighteners!! Oh and the Tunnocks Teacakes. The staff were very extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfasts are lovely. Really enjoyed our stay and will definitely see you all next year.

Update december 2024: The new restaurant layout is terrible. People will have to queue outside, there is no oversight, and I'm pretty sure fire safety-wise the entire place is a violation of the law. Original review: Staff pays no attention to fryers, alarms going off all the time for minutes on end before someone has the decency to tend to the french fries. Fries often served after being "kept warm under the lamp" for god knows how long - long enough to make them weak,stale and barely lukewarm. Mixed up drinks (diet vs regular) happens too often.

Ordered via Deliveroo. Food arrived nearly TWO HOURS later, by which time I had ordered something else. Avoid disappointment by avoiding this hole.

Here for more cocktails . My favourite long island tea is there. The food was great. The barman Ryan was good fun and on hand if you need to ask a question. Just great way to spend an afternoon

Absolutely hideous never show up at this place food was rotten, freezing cold, and waited over 2 hours on delivery. Only order after everywhere else is shut and there is literally no other option. Avoid at all costs

Quick stop off on way into town. Really enjoyed our snacks and wine. Was met by Shauney who served us at the till. Lovely and friendly

Myself & my friend and 9month old baby were in for breakfast on Monday 9th of March. We were served by FLAVIO ... what can I say his service was amazing like in a 5 star restaurant. He was so polite and well mannered something you don’t get in many places nowadays. We will definitely be back.

Came here to have a drink and do some work on a weekday morning. The staff were super friendly, I had an excellent hot chocolate, there was a nice buzz. Only issue is it was a bit cold but it was very cold outside so the heating might not have properly cranked up yet!

The fish and chips from Creel Caught was grossly overpriced for a piece of fish you would expect to pick up at Farmfoods and low quality frozen chips. Even the mushy peas were awful. To say I was disappointed is an under statement when I saw the quality of the other dishes that my family had. Will be back at Bonnie and Wild but you can be sure I will be giving Creel Caught a wide berth.

Came in for lunch and had soup and a Croque Monsieur Had to add a lot of seasoning to soup and very Dissapointed in Croque Monsieur

Ordered meal last night about 9pm beef curry and chips for delivery Chinese lady said 9 90 waited 45 minutes phoned to check when meal was coming she tells me l never phoned she was very rude and and accused me of being crazy and put phone down on me l was so annoyed went along to takeaway and showed her my call history she said l did not speak to her as she has a very abrupt phone manner all she had to do was sorry what would you like but would not admit she was wrong let me know if anyone else has same problem
