The best restaurants in Montrose and District Angus Central Scotland

Never have we been to a hotel with such friendly welcoming staff. Everyone we met showed us the greatest hospitality. Nothing was too much trouble. We ate in the restaurant on both nights of our stay and enjoyed the food and again the friendly attitude of the staff. Breakfast was varied with a choice of hot dishes including Arbroath smokies. Our room was spacious and warm with a view over the green. We will certainly return if we visit Montrose again. The birdwatching was good too!

Eateries in Montrose seem to close on Mondays so we ate where we stayed - in the Park Hotel. The staff were nice and the service was very good. The menu was a bit limited but we had a very nice steak pie and chicken goujons followed by rhubarb and gin cheesecake and a berry pavlova - all nice and tasty.

Eva and Mackenzie were very friendly and helpful waitresses, the food tasted great and the service was excellent, will be visiting here more frequently!

Turned up for coffee and cake with £10 in back pocket only to be to be told card only. Went back later with cash only to be disappointed by very dry cake

I stayed here for 2 nights on a room only basis. I was in Arbroath to watch football. The hotel is in the Town centre. I had a warm welcome when I got there. The room was more than adequate for my requirements, ensure with tea and coffee making facilities. The hotel had a downstairs bar and varied menu to choose from. Overall, it was value for money and there are plentynof pubs and eating places nearby.

Hadn't been for a while and it was really nice. A couple of things though, they only had sour dough bread and no other options(not a fan of the sourdough) also we had soup and a wrap and it came with chips. Enjoyed it but a lesser option of just soup and wrap would of been nice.

The most friendly and attentive bar staff. The atmosphere is great and it’s always clean. I find it very difficult not to pop in when I walk past.

Week day early evening meal. We were warmly greeted and shown to our table. Great service, friendly staff. Very extensive menu. One of us had the set menu, which was excellent. The rest if us chose off the menu. There were so many choices. The food was fantastic and what we didn't manage to eat we took home with us. Fair prices. We will definitely return.

Stopped off here on our way to a holiday let, best special Haddock supper we have tasted for a long time, staff were very polite and helpful, we will be back.

Absolutely outstanding experience from start to finish, this restaurant is the complete jewel in the crown of Montrose. Here for work and never stayed in the town previously, cannot recommend this more. Probably the best steak I’ve had in years and Lauren our server was absolutely fantastic, extremely attentive and a lovely soul. Will certainly be back the next time I’m in Angus.

Made very welcome by Mellisa behind the bar ,A fantastic pint of Tennants £4:00 . Nice clean pub,3 Darts lanes and a Pool table with space around it hurrah. Will be back.
