Great service, decent chips but the fish cakes tasted horrible. The fishcakes were too overcooked and tasted burnt. I was very disappointed and expected better.

Food cold when we Got home only 5 minutes from Chipshop very disappointed never had this on previous visits won’t be back

Terrible service it took one hour for a chicken tender to be made and then the chicken was dry (if your looking for a chippy in Montrose go to the grove it’s way quicker and and the food actually tastes good.

OK it was nice and fresh but bloody hell £ 7.20 for battered sausage chips and curry sauce ....Outrageous price for a sausage that comes at cost for 27p and mayan curry atv23p per portion... WTF ?

Visited here whilst on holiday in the area. Fast and efficient service. The fish supper was enough for two of us and was superb. We'll certainly call again when in the area.

Food was great. We ordered haggis supper and the haggis was 😋🤤. My wife has Fish Supper she said best fish in the area. Need a coaches Supper as stated to owners. 🤣

Always greeted with a warm welcome from Jordan, Chloe and Caitlyn! The staff work exceptionally hard to ensure your order is taken, prepared and ready promptly. Jordan is always cheerful and quick with his great sense of humour, leaving the customers feeling great! Food is excellent, always piping hot and fresh!

Only in Montrose for a few days for work and every time I ome I use this chip shop. Friendly staff and the fish supper was delicious. Defo recomend

Stopped here because of the reviews it got on Google on the way to the beach with our dogs. Food was piping hot and above the average chip shop quality. I enjoyed my chippy tea.

What’s us playing at £10 for a fish supper £3:75 for a large chips when it was a normal size 5 years ago . Yes I know prices are going up but come on. The chippy aros the road dose a fish super for £3 and large chips for £2:60 and they are large . Spicy mo here I come

amazing fish supper. we were visiting Montrose and popped into this busy chipper, fantastic friendly quick service, great value for money, the fish was so fresh and batter perfect, chips cooked to perfection, the oil they use in Chips and Things must be the best as we didnt have any of that oily after taste. their home made tartar sauce is truly delicious.

Our go to chipper, always great fresh food, great service. Never been disappointed.

We were staying for a couple of nights with our friends Lee and Tim who live in Barnhead. Tim took us to this chippy for our dinner on Friday and we then took the food to the seafront to enjoy. The staff were so friendly, helpful and all smiling. The man who was the owner (sorry didn't catch your name), greeted everyone like they were close friends. Quite a contrast to our local chippy that's for sure! We had to wait about 10 minutes, but they were really busy, so fair enough. We tried the red sausage, black pudding sausage and haggis sausage with chips and curry sauce. All were excellent and good portion sizes.

Best fish n chips I have had in a long time.

Our order was taken very quickly and then we waited about 25 minutes for it to be ready. The shop seemed to be struggling to cope with the amount of customers and constant telephone orders and also collections from a delivery man. When we received the food we were very happy with it. The fish was delicious and portions were very generous. Really enjoyed our food.

Great service food and great prices too

We were staying at the caravan site so this was nice and handy for take away chip dinners a couple of times for us. The chips were good and so were the smoked sausage and balck puddings. My other had the fish and that was good too.

Hubby went to pick up his online order for 5.45 (he was a little early) which I placed before 12 noon on the day. I received a confirmation of 5.45 pick by email. When he arrived they shouted to the fryer to put on his order (2 steak pies), which meant the order was not ready to pick up at all on time. Fifteen minutes later (6pm) he enquired as to the progress of his order only to be told they were coming. They finally arrived another 10 minutes later - a total of 25 minutes late. He did not receive any apology, except a half hearted sorry from the lass behind the counter. Surely good customer service would require something more? Very disappointed.

£9.20 for this, Would never return. Firstly the food was terrible. I ordered a chip bun my bun was stuck to the bottom of the tray photo shows what it ended up like. Honestly wouldn’t pay 50p for the burger no sauce dry, salad or cheese was simple a burger between a bun! Terrible.

Ordered my fish cake supper at 6pm the other night, arrived at 8pm. Was past hungry, not used to eating at that time so only ate fish cakes, left chips. No apology

Food great, reasonably priced, good choice, very clean shop. However, could do with someone answering phone when really bust.

We always visit this fish shop when on holiday and is always brilliant but not this time it was busy and had just opened so waited ages for food when we got it back it wasn't the best black pudding was like sludge and had an awful taste didn't eat it so ended up with a tray of chips husbands white pudding was the same hope it is just a one off because it is a good chippy

Perfect food with perfect service

Staff are friendly enough. Menu is usual chippie fare at reasonable prices. You can order by phone then go collect From my experience (burger and fries) the food was quite good It can be very busy at times, I waited at least 15 minutes for my order. But food was good and would go again.

Was advised to visit here by some colleagues as working away. Haddock and chips fish supper was purchased. Really pretty good worth the walk, staff friendly out pretty quick, Will use if up again

Great food when you can get it , expect a long wait

One hour wait for 2 bags of chips naaaa. Shove your chip shop where the sun don't shine. Bloody joke. Plus there where loads waiting outside for there food. Plus if we have to wear facemasks then so do not have them hanging from one ear.

Don’t expect chips (or manners) after about 2040hrs when they are due to close at 2100hrs. Fryers are off!! Won’t be back. I’ll keep using my usual chippy.

Staff very slow wouldn't answer phone freezing cold night have had to stand outside for half an hour would think twice about visiting again The owner Sarah read this review and replied to me to offer an explanation and was quite stern about it all and said if I would like to discuss this further I could email her which I did and I was really quite impressed but that was to be short-lived I've had no reply

As usual, excellent food & service. Had a little bit of a wait due to COVID guidelines implemented, but completely understandable under the current circumstances businesses have to operate in. Staff member apologised for my wait. Keep up the good work guys.

Ive been coming to chips n' things for as long as i can remember and is the best fish and chips shop I’ve been to! staff are exceptional and food is on point every time I go! The service is amazing I have not one bad word to say about this place! i highly recommend chips n things to anyone who is looking for an enjoyable takeaway.

My family and I have been using to Chips 'n' Things for a long time now and it has always only been average at best. They frequently run out of fish, frequently have terrible service and always are busy showing that a lot of folk feel the same way!!! Last time I was there, there were about 8 people stood waiting outside and no one's food was ready, they had nothing prepared. I had a conversation with two older guys whilst I was waiting, we agreed that it was better than the rest that Montrose had to offer but the service was terrible. I'd ended up waiting an extra half hour from when they said "your order will be ready in half an hour" that's a full hour and all I ordered were sausage and chips and fish and chips.Anyhow, my family went to pick it up tonight, we got it as a birthday treat for my father, I didn't ask how their's were but mine? They got my order wrong.Additionally the staff always seem fed up (except one guy who's really nice and welcoming). I wish Montrose had more to offer, might try Adam's Fish Bar as that is quite new.Would not recommend if you've never been before.

The Service and the quality off my order was first class, the organising was beyond all expectation , you gave your order and you were issued with a bleeper so you could go back to your warm car and wait for the bleeper to go of, a few minuites later your order was ready I cant fault this way off service under the circumstances , well worth the wait, and all with a smile especially from the Young Lad !!

Been here a couple of times and the food is good, but they really need to sort out their order for pickup service. Ordered online well in advance and waited outside in the cold for 40 minutes after the pickup time while they fulfilled multiple delivery orders and walk-ins. They KNEW my order was booked for that time and it wasn't even a huge amount of food. 4-5 people standing outside waiting on their orders too, what was the holdup? No explanation or warning. This was on a weekday evening too, so it's not like a busy weekend where you'd expect to wait. I've had to wait at this place before but never that long. Not worth the wait time so won't bother again.

Credit it where credit is due, The Pigs in blanket festive treat was delightful. Would highly recommend. A bit of banter on a previous review went down well , This was heaps better, not too long as wait either.Good to see the delightful young male assistant seeing the funny side to the previous review..Redemption!!!

Great food and service as always

This chipper is great, they're chips are so fresh also which many chippers have a habit of dishing out dried up ones. Have Had the fish the pie the mock chop and battered sausages and all were so good. I must admit I always get a carton of curry sauce, it is spot on 👌😁 different to any other chippy sauce. Definitely be back (no sure the diet will agree though lol)

Don't tell everyone about the excellent fritters and yummy fish. Darn it, I just did!

Always go hear when back home in Montrose. This time due to COVID tried their delivery service. Just under an hours wait but that is to be expected as it was a Saturday night. Food was freshly cooked, tasty and nice and hot on arrival. Loved it.

The best fish and chips in the town...

Food was lovely but won’t be going back. Pre-ordered online & then waited 20 minutes past that time. Customers coming in whilst I waited & were served, yet when challenged as to why I’m waiting, they said our fish wasn’t cooked yet!! Clearly no advantage pre-booking. When I was eventually handed my order, not so much as an apology or friendly smile.

Really good haddock with excellent batter, scampi and chips v good too. Yes, had to wait a few minutes but it was well organised and v popular. Recommend
