Popped in for a spot of lunch. Great variety on menu and food very tasty. Will definitely be back and would highly recommend.

Sadly didn’t really get to give this place a real go as when we arrived they stated they were not dog friendly and we would need to drink or eat outside. Very surprised that such a large establishment did not cater for walkers or visitors with dogs, especially when this beautiful area has so Many walks and we saw so many people with dogs. Totally appropriate this is their choice and respect that. If you have a dog can strongly recommend Glenesk Hotel for lunch or dinner food excellent or Edzell Tweed Warehouse which has a cafe with a great selection for light lunch or tea and coffee etc. They even allow dogs in the shop area which we have to say is lovely with great craft items etc. Unfortunately we will not be returning to the Panmure Arms Hotel until their Policy changes.

Spent two very enjoyable nights in the Panmure Arms while visiting the area. The room was very comfortable, quiet and warm. The food and the choices on the menu were excellent. Despite Christmas parties taking place in the function rooms, the staff were superb and no request was too much for them. Thank you for a most enjoyable stay. I will return the next time I’m in the area.

Amazing service & fab for gluten free options. I’m coeliac and can always trust the panmure with my food. Great selection of choices too! We couldn’t believe how quick the service was and the staff were very attentive too. Our go to for sitting in and taking away.

Had a lovely meal here, food was really tasty and good choice. Although don’t think the portions were as generous as they used to be. The only criticism was the service, too much hovering over you whilst eating, we were asked 3 times if we wanted another drink and we were only there for an hour. Five different members of staff approached our table to ask various questions which didn’t make for a very relaxing atmosphere. You just put a bite in your mouth and someone else came over. Might be better if the waiting staff had areas to themselves and save on the duplication or triplicating of service. Otherwise would go back.

As small (4) family group including my 98 year old sister making a "Down memory lane" visit to Edzell, stayed for a few days at The Panmure Arms and can not praise the staff highly enough, very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Our room was excellent, quite spacious and well equipped, very comfortable bed and was well serviced each day. We ate only in the hotel and found the food to be very good, a wide choice and everything we had was tasty, well cooked and nicely presented. We would have no hesitation in revisiting this hotel, or recommending it to others. Excellent value for money. Very minor point, there are three steps to the left at the top of stairs that would benefit from a small hand rail. Overall a very pleasant few days. Out utmost thanks to all of the staff.

Stopped here randomly after a day in the area and glad we did. The staff were friendly and seated us in the main bar area - other dinning rooms are available. The service was attentive and quick and the food we had was excellent quality and well prepared. Some great twists on local foods and some very radical dishes as well, which is great to see on a menu. Good value as well Definately go back next time we are in the area.

Ate here three times while staying in a nearby holiday cottage . We enjoyed all the food we had. There is an extensive menu.Portions are large and tasty.Everyone was very friendly especially David who boxed up our leftovers. We would definitely recommend this place and will visit again if in the area.

Whilst travelling through this village we spotted this Hotel and decided to park up and have some food. It was a lovely warm sunny day and we requested to be sat outside in the sun. Lady serving was lovely and very attentive, both courses of traditional Scottish fare were fantastic and cooked to perfection. Once the paperwork had been taken care of we took a short walk to discovered they also have an excellent take away ice shop, meal instantly turned into three courses.

1st. Time at this hotel. Fantastic menu. Friendly and helpful staff. Will gladly go back if they will have us. Well done Panmuir Arms.

Loveky to deal with on the phone. We had Rosie with us so important that doggy could come too. Arrived, lovely big car park. Welcomed and checked in. Room lovely, oak bed and wardrobes with lovely white linen and tartan curtains. Food smelt amazing. Lovely walk down by the river, then dinner. Garlic mushrooms and deep fried brie to start, amazing. Rib eye steak and chips for me, just lovely and tasty. Chicken, steak and haggis with chips, again all lovely. Puddings, meringue with strawberries and creme brulee. Cannot fault the staff and the food. Yummy. Definitely 5 stars

Its a few tears since we last had a meal at the Panmure Arms and decided to go for lunch for a change. The bar we were in was very clean and the staff were nice and friendly. The food was ok, a long way from the best food we have had in a pub, but no complaints. We would certainly go back again.

Had two meals here - one at lunchtime and one evening meal. Both excellent - especially the Panmure tower!!. The service was friendly and efficient and all social distancing rules observed.

Ate here and have to say it is the worst meal I have ever had. The chicken starter was under cooked and my partner was sick all night. The main dishes were disgusting, Gordon Ramsay would have his work cut out here. Would definately not recommend this place unless you have exceptionally low standards and don't mind getting food poisoning.

We visited for lunch while passing through Edzell. Customer service was great, food was good, and beer was cold :-) Provided high chair for our 1 year old who thoroughly enjoyed the chips. Good coronavirus precautions, we felt very safe.

Had a wonderful time on the several occasions I ate there. The food was perfect! The staff were very friendly and the hotel very clean. Prices a are very reasonable and did I mention the food was perfect?

Attended a family gathering at the Panmure Arms on Sunday 22/12/2019. As a vegan i had some reservations about a suitable main given it was almost Christmas. Ordered the lentil dhal and was quietly impressed. Closer to a curry than a dhal, sweet potato, red peppers, greens, button mushrooms all generously coated in a delicious spicy sauce, all served alongside a bountiful helping of rice. Friendly, helpful staff who attended to my requirements. A hearty 10/10!

Stopped here for the night to do some hillwalking the next day .Room warm and comfortable. Bar and restaurant service and food great . The fillet steak and venison definitely a must to have .The staff are exemplary nothing too much for them .We are going to be back that’s for sure .

I went as a solo visitor as I’d been working in the area. The staff made me feel very welcome and the waiter was so polite he could have been in a Michelin restaurant he was lovely.Good choices on the menu and I eventually decided on the Venison Steak which had the most amazing black pudding Bon Bons - the batter was light and crispy. The Venison has been cooked perfectly and was lovely and pink and juicy.The whole dish was great and if I’m ever this way again I’ll be visiting and will leave room for dessert next time.

Excellent service and good wholesome food. Perfect place to have a family lunch or dinner. Always check the specials board!

Stopped in for Easter lunch and was not disappointed. Had the steak sizzler which was done to perfection. Everyone’s meal was good and piping hot. Service really good would recommend a trip up to sample this lovely restaurant.

Lovely food & surroundings. Great choice on menu & good kids menu. Been a couple of times recently & majority of the waiting staff were very friendly & helpful just a shame that others were less friendly & made us feel like a bit of an inconvenience which kind of spoiled the experience.

Had a wonderful weekend stay here on 3rd November for 2 nights. All staff warm and friendly couldn’t do enough for you , Food all locally sourced, very tasty menu , Breakfast in the morning is superb !Had the best sleep ever, Panmure Arms you got it “Just Right “Will be back again soon .

I've eaten dinner here on two separate occasions and have been consistently impressed on the quality of the food. The owner and wait staff are friendly with very little wait time for very fresh and flavorful food. I wasn't remotely interested in trying haggis but my colleague was and it was so beautifully prepared even I was tempted.

This restaurant was a gem. We stayed in Edzell five nights and had dinner here three of the nights. It was a comfortable environment for dinning and the staff was excellent, as was the food.

Called in here for a lunch and found it to be very satisfactory. It was reasonably busy but service was prompt, efficient and courteous.

Was staying at Birch Cottage in the village of Edzell and popped along to have a bit of lunch food was lovely and good value

Simple decor but/clean and welcoming. Staff very polite and efficient. Menu was HUGE but was very well balanced and a real treat. Everyone in the party had different dishes and every one thoroughly enjoyed their meal and I am sure the hotel has six new fans now.

We were staying nearby and popped in for a drink on most evenings on our way home. Edzell is a lovely village and there are lots of places to sit outside of the hotel and people watch whilst enjoying your drink. We also took advantage of the ice cream which is served in the conservatory at the weekends. Gorgeous.

Took my partner for a nigh at the Panmure Arms Hotel. We were greated with friendly profesional staff. The hotel was very clean and tidy, i requested a certain room and was very happy that we got it. The room was spotless and very nicely decorated, with tea and coffee facilities.

My family choice for a special night out, wide range of dishes to choose from. very pleasent suroundings . wheelchair friendly restaurant.

Having once lived in the quaint village of Edzell the Panmure was always my favourite choice to socialise in.

We had been looking forward to our evening meal all afternoon as last time we were here the food was great. This time I’m afraid it was little better than average, the rib eye steak was rather tasteless and my burger was okay but the hand cut chips were delicious. The service was great and the lady was very friendly.

Recently visited the restaurant with friends. The food was excellent with a good selection of options. The staff were very attentive and friendly and I would highly recommend the restaurant for a meal.

A good stop for coffee and bacon rolls, lunches are good too though, pleasant staff always willing to help

Lovely facade dominating north end of lovely village of Edzell. Warm welcome from owner DAVID and his friendly staff. Old and quirky ( hotel, not David) but room was spacious and clean. Cosy bar/dining area with large menu and great ‘pub grub’ prepared by resident chef Graeme. Well presented, well cooked and large portions. Reasonably priced wine on table. Fantastic cooked breakfast. Very reasonably priced overall and will definitely return here.

We recently stayed in Edzell for 2 nights and ate here both nights. The first night we ate in the bar area and the second night in the dining room which was a lot nicer. The food was very good and the chef has given the menu some thought with imaginative touches. Staff friendly and provided good service.

Took the family to The Panmure Arms for an off plan lunch. The place was not excessively busy so had a choice of seats for thee three of our party. The menu was very comprehensive with portion sizes for both adults and children. The staff were very helpful and attentive, the service was prompt enabling the food to be both delicious and hot. We shall certainly be back to enjoy more of the interesting menu.

Popped in here for a bar lunch during a visit to Edzell. There was a vast choice of meals on the menu plus more specials on their blackboard! Would definitely return and highly recommend.

Nos alojamos en este hotel por 2 noches y tuvimos una comida en la primera noche. El comedor es acogedor, el personal es también encantador! ! ! . No teníamos entradas mi principal era una inusual combinación de pollo movía morcilla con tocino envuelto alrededor sirve sobre una cama de salsa con un encantador stovies estaba delicioso. Mi marido tenía el pescado y patatas fritas que disfrutó fue regado con una deliciosa botella de casa blanca. Nuestra cuenta vino a un precio razonable de 39 libras.

La semana pasada, para celebrar un cumpleaños doble, decidimos visitar este restaurante para una comida. No he visitado este hotel durante muchos años, pero la calidad de las comidas es aún la misma que recordaba. Amplios asientos están en el bar, y un restaurante también lo son. La comida era deliciosa y el personal muy amable. Sin duda volveremos en el futuro.

Mi esposa y yo comimos aquí hace un par de semanas. Nos presentamos en spec pero nos sentaron rápidamente y perro de mi esposa no plantean problemas para ellos.

Had a great meal with friends, food superb, surroundings felt like being at home with a warm and cosy open log fire. Staff all very friendly with a big welcoming smile upon arrival. Prices were very acceptable for the quality of the food. We will effeminately be back - well done David and the team.

Had an evening meal here.. I had been once before for lunch, which was very niceDinner, however was not so good in all honesty.. Very much 'pub grub'..Service, although acceptable was not of a high standard.The food, we found, was of mediocre standard.. We ordered a bottle of white wine.. plonked on the table - no chiller, no offer to pour..I would not return to this restaurant.

The Panmure Arms was the host/setting for our Wedding on the 2/9/16 and from as soon as we had booked the date right up to the morning after the wedding David and Becky and staff were absolutely tremendous. We had a brilliant day and night and were well looked after!! Thanks David for a fantastic time you are a STAR!

Nice decor , friendly staff, and varied menu and lovely specials on offer. We chose fish, chicken curry and beef stroganoff . All nicely prepared and tasty. Desserts were good too , banoffee pie, cinnamon toast and cheesecake.Pleasant evening out, food was nice and well cooked. Reasonably priced too.

We enjoyed a fabulous meal here at the Panmure Arms ,staff were all nice polite and accomadating .The restaurant was a little dark and could do with better lighting .But the food was brilliant

We booked for a family lunch for 11 and can highly recommend it. They catered very well for the children in our group and all the adults enjoyed their food. Portion sizes are generous, two courses left us all with very full tummies. Definitely save room for dessert - the sticky toffee pudding was one of the best I've ever had! The restaurant strikes a nice balance between modern and traditional which makes it great for travellers and locals.

as above xxxxx. First visit, professor Capell, a retired local gentleman recommended the Panmure Arms to me so I went for a dinner. The steak was great, afterwards after watching football on TV I fell asleep and walked out at about 8pm. In the morning I was fishing on the River Esk when the manager confronted me. He said I had not paid for my meal the previous evening. I promptly paid up and gave him a bit extra, I felt a bit embarassed. I caught a nice 8 lb salmon which I gifted to the hotel. A great experience. Went back to Perth in Australia a few weeks later. Would love to go back, now 74 years old ???

We were on the way to the castle and we fancied some food. There were amazing with the fact my little boy was dairy free, helped us with checking all ingredients. The food was amazing, so breath taking. And to top it off they had diary free ice cream for my little boy, he loved it. Would recommend it if you want really good food.

We enjoyed a comfortable night in this classic coaching style Inn. Good hearty, tasty food. Nicely decorated rooms. Comfortable bed. Nothing particularly brilliant to highlight, but none the worse for being a good all rounder.

Been eating at the Panny for several years now, I have to say the steaks are the highlight of their menu and truly delicious. The menu offers great home cooking and always delivers, the staff are very courteous and genuinely there to help you enjoy your visit. Nice community feel to the hotel with lots of local weddings taking place at the hotel, a favourite for hunting and shooting parties in season so can get pretty busy.All in all a great place for a nice run out in the car and a decent meal.

A lovely place to have a beer after the fish and chips. It was friendly and warm with a good atmosphere. The staff again were very chatty and happy. I was just in the bar with friends can't say to much about the hotel. It was just nice having a coll beer in bar.

We went for our tea there tonight. As it is our local hotel and restaurant. We both had chicken Marland it was so good could nt.fault it in any way. We were not able to try out the sweet menu.abit disappointed. Staff very pleasant and helpful worth a visit to the pannie.

Had several meals here and walked in VERY hungry only to walk out VERY full and satisfied.....the staff are very friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is very relaxing.

Called in for a bar supper recently. Prices were a bit steep for what you got, though the food was tasty. The barman`s comment when I asked for a beer mat that "they didn`t use them, as the druggies pinch them all", whilst maybe tongue in cheek certainly shouldn`t be said to a customer that he had never seen before. Service was first rate & the staff friendly, though not very talkative. Worth another visit.

Stopped in here yesterday afternoon for lunch on our way home from a few days away . Meal was excellent. Good for children too. Staff were absolutely lovely. Toilets also nice and clean. Had the mini egg cheesecake which was delicious. Would definitely recommend!

I'd first been here when I'd arrived in the area a couple of years ago and had been unimpressed - so much so that it's taken us 2 years to return. How wrong I was - the place when I went with friends in December for dinner was delightful. The menu choice was great - lots of delicious options on the general menu and then a specials board also with very yummy sounding options. I started with the battered mushrooms which were golden fried and served with relish which were very tasty. I then followed with the chicken Maryland which was a huge portion (a doggie bag was taken home for my doggies) and also really tasty. Could not manage dessert. Service was friendly and efficient with the food and drinks being served with great timing. Will certainly return again.

I was expecting more from a quality hotel but might just had caught the kitchen staff on a bad day! I will give another visit to try as we like country hotels

Had an average meal today. Steak and chip was alright, nothing to write home about. Chips were very odd looked very much like they had been bought at the chip shop next door 'Tuck Inn'. They were small, oily and have left a greasy aftertaste in my mouth. I very much hope this wasn't the case!It's a lovely place but the food could be improved, a little bit more home cooking rather than trying to be fancy might help. The past few times we have been in for dinner we have been the only people there! Think they are missing a trick, as a Edzell is such a popular place.

We were a large family group, tuning up on Sunday evening without booking, but we were accommodated by moving tables around!Staff were lovely and helpful and all our meals were good.

Returning to Aberdeenshire from a visit to The Discovery in Dundee, we booked ourHigh Tea at The Panmure Arms. We were greeted by very Friendly Staff. Were shown to a beautifully decorated room, where our table was awaiting. The standardof the food and service was second to none. Value for money most certainly.Have no hesitation in recommending this Venue.A most enjoyable experience. The Crichie Court Social Club will be back. .

First time I have tried this restaurant and won't be the last. Food was excellent and service was first class and to top it off price was pretty dam good

Nice friendly bar and reception, room not so great. Bedside lamp was smashed and TV made a humming noise constantly but pretty good value.

Well, not an exquisite place, more a pub style place (although it is a restaurant), but pretty good British cuisine and a good price value ratio.

I arrived here on a pleasant summer evening after a hill walk looking for some food to save cooking at home. The menu was quite extensive, with haggis, beef bourgignon, curry, chilli, fish and a big choice of beef burgers and steaks. There was also a specials board. This place seems heavily oriented towards the meat eater. I may have missed it, but I didn't see a pasta dish at all. Not even macaroni cheese? Come on, everyone can rustle that up. The man next to me raved about his steak, so if you like that sort of thing..... I chose to have liver, sausage and bacon with fried onions, chips and some veg. It was tasty and met the requirements. For dessert there was again a fair choice. I had been thinking vanilla and honey cheesecake, but saw the specials board had syrup sponge with custard, so chose that instead. Again I enjoyed it, although there wasn't a strong flavour of syrup. The wait between the two courses went on a bit too long, and the waitress did apologise, but there were quite a few tables getting their main meals, which may have been the reason. Staff were pleasant and attentive, total bill with a drink and coffee just over £20, so not bad. There isn't really anywhere else to eat in Edzell in the evening, but everyone seemed to be content, so go for it.

The breakfasts were great, other meals were more average. The pub area was noisy, but the dining area off to the side was very quite.

We had a good dinner and a nice Scottish Breakfast there during our one night stay in Edzell. Recommendable!

We went in the evening for a family meal whilst staying in the area. The menu has a reasonable selection including many Scottish dishes but is limited if you are a vegetarian. All the food we ordered was well cooked and presented with reasonable portion sizes. However the service was rather slow and the waitress had to keep going back to check what food was available. And during our starter came back to tell us that one of the mains we ordered was no longer available. Overall though the meal was good and the atmosphere was relaxed and pleasant (we were in the front lounge room) and I would go back again.

Recently had a meal here for the first time in a few years. Had chicken goujons with sweet chilli dip for starter - without the dip the goujons were pretty bland and tasteless. Had steak pie for main, few bits of steak had a bit of gristle but the rest was fine. The rolo cheesecake for pudding was divine. Waitresses were attentive and friendly.

We loved the extensive menu and the wait staff were on top of their game. Setting was very elegant . Food was excellent.

14 of us had a Sunday evening meal, excellent food and friendly service. All food ready together and hot, and well cooked. Several dishes unavailable though which was disappointing. Good portions.

A very nice hotel to visit for a nice meal. Usually, there is some sort of game on the menu. The service is about average but the meals are above average. They do have a limited selection of single malts available, though.

Food was nice enough. Vegetarian options limited. Service was mediocre and the I felt it was well overpriced. Have been before and felt it was better value for money the first time.

42 members and guests of our curling club attended the annual dinner and prize giving at the Panmure for the second year running. The room was set out lovely, everything was as asked, the service was excellent and the food was so good.I would recommend the Panmure Arms Hotel to any group organising a function.

Visited after a long days walking in the Angus Glens. Staff were very welcoming and attentive and the menu and specials board looked good. The food unfortunately didn't do the rest of the service justice. The stuffed mushroom starter sounded good but the reality was the oil they had been deep fried in carried the flavour of everything else that had been cooked in it, which left them greasy and killed the flavour of the mushrooms and their stuffing. We then had Steak Pie and a Chilli Burger as mains. Had I not been so hungry I would have left the burger as it had an underlying taste of burnt food. I suspect it was the chilli topping as the burger without any on it wasn't quite as bad. The burger certainly seemed over priced at almost £13. The steak pie was better and had plenty of beef in it but my wife found it a little bland. Both of our accompanying chips suffered from the same problem as the mushrooms, greasy and flavoured from the oil. Over all, 9 out of 10 for service but the food was at best 5 out of 10.

Stopped in for a late bar meal on a Friday night with friends.Great atmosphere at the bar catching up with some other old friends that were out for a quiet drink.I then had the home-made beefburger and chips. This was not a burger made with a prepackaged beef patty- this was a tasty, juicy and well spiced burger with great chips.All the other meals were very tasty- I managed to "sample" some breaded Whitehead from another plate which was nice and crunchy.Will try and visit when the Steak night is on! This is a great place to stop at when visiting the Glens.

Very nice hotel, staff very helpful, breakfast was very adequate and their was a good choice. The room was fairly small but very clean, however room 17 needs to have a new toilet seat and cover !
