Sher-E-Bangla in Angus

Impromptu meal out last night with our son and we’ve found an absolute gem of a local restaurant. Extensive menu and a delicious choice of set menu, which is great value. There’s also plenty on offer for vegans and vegetarians which i appreciated. My vegetable bhuna is the best I’ve ever had, and I’ve eaten many over the years! Brilliant service from very friendly and attentive staff. First visit and it definitely won’t be the last!

Decided to have a takeaway from Sher-E-Bangla on our visit to Montrose. As a rule when I visit a new place I always opt for the most basic thing any Indian restaurant can offer. Shami kebab, lamb madras, chappati and rice. I figure if they can't get this right then there's something seriously wrong 😂 . I'm happy to say this was not a let down. Generous good sized portions of starter and 10 good sized pieces of lamb in the Madras in lovely sauce. The rice was perfect and the chappati bigger than most restaurants or takeaways generally serve. This was not an exceptional curry compared to some more high end places, but it was very very good. If your looking for value quality food, with friendly and polite staff when visiting Montrose then I advise you try this place. I can't make a comparison to other Indian restaurants in Montrose at this time as this was my first visit. If your in a hurry to find some food and don't want to wander around the town then try this place and you shouldn't be disappointed .

Despite living in Montrose I have never actually visited for a sit down meal as always order online. My husband and I didn't book a table but there was no issues in getting a table (Sunday evening). The menu choice is extensive. My husband ordered his usual chicken tikka masala and I had the chicken tikka kashmiri korma. Both of us had pilau rice and a peshwari naan to share. The portion sizes were good and the food was delicious. The staff were friendly and attentive also. All in all we had a very enjoyable visit and will certainly return for a sit down meal in the future

Having read previous reviews we were slightly dubious about going here for a meal. We hadn't booked a table, but thankfully they managed to fit us in. Very friendly attentive staff.. When drinks and food order was taken , both items arrived promptly.. Very flavourful food (chicken bhuna, chicken madras, cheese naan and pilau rice). Would definitely return.

Tonight I ordered a shish kebab and chips.. I did not ask for a rice but it did come with my order.i then called shop to complain and I was unbelievably told rice comes with meal. However, as I didn't ask for rice and only wanted chips, they charged me for both. Not ordering from them again. Sher bangla restaurant in Montrose. I feel very let d own and cheated by t hat restaurant. Never again.

We'd been to the Sher-E-Bangla in November, and the food was so good we vowed we'd be back next time we were in the area. Well, we made a point of doing so, and the food was amazing once again. Last time I had garlic prawns, this time I tried garlic mushroom (because I was greedy last time and had to ask for a doggy bag, thought this was lighter). These come in what I can only describe as an aioli soup, and it's delicious. Mr Always Right got the fish pakora again, and it was beyond delicious, as was his chicken korma, which had a lovely fruity tang. I normally go for hot dishes but this time tried their Sher-e-bangla special, so he could try some too, and it went down a treat. Last time we visited on a Wednesday evening, this time early on a Saturday evening. Still the same great service. Montrose is nice enough but isn't the most exciting of places; if there was one thing that would entice us back it's this restaurant and we *will* be back. My mouth is watering even thinking of it. Ordered delivery at 6 pm. After 2 phone calls it arrived at 8.15 pm. Although the food is excellent the service falls way below what is expected from a reputable restaurant.

Been here a few times and food has been fine and staff attentive but recently ordered a takeaway and very disappointed. Order was an hour and a half late, food was cold and part of the order missing absolutely no point in trying to get missing items delivered due to length of time already waited for the order. I do not understand why the restaurant takes orders when they know they cannot keep up with the demand, I would rather be disappointed by being told we cannot take an order due to high demand. It’s just day light robbery of people’s hard earned cash.

This was my first visit to the Sher-E-Bangla and I was not disappointed. I ordered the Methi Chicken which was excellent and it was made with good quality meat. The staff were efficient, chatty and polite. This was probably the best Indian food I’ve ever had in Scotland. ‘Will definitely be back on my next visit to Montrose.

Came in for dinner tonight to celebrate my partner's birthday. We've never been here before and received a friendly and very helpful greeting; we'd arrived early around 5pm so the restaurant was quiet and our waiters were happy to chat and have a laugh with us. As a starter I chose garlic prawns, which were delicious and came in a sauce I can only describe as liquid aioli gold. I'm an experienced and determined capsaicin masochist, who wants curry that will cause me to break a sweat whilst still having good flavour as opposed to heat in the form of mediocre food disguised by pumping it full of chillies. My main of chicken garlic chilli with pilau rice did not disappoint (hands up - I will be absolutely honking for a few days but that's everyone else's problem lol). Birthday boy had opted for Indian food, but is a wimp and knows he wants something mild, so chose fish pakora and chicken korma, both of which he thoroughly enjoyed (as well as a few of my garlic prawns). He wasn't sure which naan he wanted and our waiter was happy to give advice that turned out to be perfect for him (peshwari naan, coconutty and went down a treat). Now, we were greedy and had poppadom with dips for starters as well, so then couldn't finish our main course. Our waiter was happy to package this up for us in a doggy bag, and I'd encourage anyone to ask for such rather than let this excellent food go to waste. We could not fault the service or the food in any way, and the restaurant itself is clean and beautifully decorated. We appreciated that there was a screened off passage for waiters to ferry takeaway orders to the reception area (which is also clean and well decorated/furnished) without disturbing diners. Overall, a lovely dining experience and we would certainly return next time we visit Montrose. Thanks guys!

Fantastic food! Best Indian I have had in a long time! The restaurant is very clean, toilets are clean and smell nice, very comfortable restaurant with a good feel about it! Staff are hard working and friendly! We will be back next time we’re in Montrose!

Nice flavors, very spicy means spicy but not burning spicy. Good service and fair prices. The interior is a bit boring. I will definitely be back for another meal.

Best currys we have had in a long time, catering for us can be tricky because we are a family of meat eaters, vegetarians, coeliacs and non coeliacs. Everyone had lots of options, veg biryani was excellent, hubbie loved the chicken tikka, kids loved the mattar paneer and chicken korma. Really appreciated the menu listing allergens really clearly, especially online!! We will be back again soon.

First visit to Sher-E-Bangla, the service was good and the food was amazing. The Tandoori Mixed Grill was to die for. We will definitely be back

I wrote a review of this restaurant in February 2022. Excellent, could not fault it. However, I would absolutely not recommend the takeaway. The pakora was cold, the garlic bread and spicy chips were soggy. The vegetarian main course was delicious, the chicken tikka was dry. The food was delivered 1 hour 35 minutes later. Extremely disappointed, I would absolutely visit the restaurant again, but wouldn't order a takeaway.

Food is always good in here , but it’s the young waiters/waitress’s they employ that let them down … while we waited on our table the staff were discussing their pay and how bad it was It wasn’t long we got our table , we ordered our drinks and had to ask again for my partners as they’d clearly forgotten ! poppadoms we had, but no plates , twice we had to ask for these , whilst enjoying them , our starter came , waiter didn’t say a word! So after enjoying the starter, we went back to the poppadoms …. Waited a bit longer for the main meal ,but it was good food as always … then they gave us the wrong bill , lucky for us we always check it …. 🤔 But we will go back as we always do , only for the food, certainly not for the service

I’ve been in a few times and had several deliveries too. Excellent food and service. Better to visit on a weekday, as they can get pretty busy Fri-Sun.

First visit to restaurant, always get takeaways which are great. Waiting time was unacceptable. Family with very young children. Bit disappointing really. Also it’s way too bright inside. Dim the lights!

Order for delivery placed at 1740. Was advised 40 mins so should have arrived at 1820. Was phoned 10 mins later to say that they were running behind and our delivery would now arrive at 1900. We phoned back at 1930 as still not arrived....

Had a tandoori jumbo king prawn,it was lovely ,the place is very neat n clean ,lovely staff …. Will be back , highly recommended
