This is a gem of a restaurant. Beautifully presented Indian cuisine by very pleasant, helpful staff… thanks for the excellent meal 😊

By a country mile thee worst Indian restaurant I've ever eaten in. In my life myself and my colleague where up working from home and thought it looked OK. Couldn't have been more wrong. Starter veg pakora. I've had better from the supermarket . Samosa was like something from a supermarket. Lamb in the bhuna was OK was soft enough not to bad. The bhuna waw!! What a, disgrace zero flavour 1 cherry tomato in it. Was horrible. Not even as close to being as good as supermarket quality. Chapattis where pre-bought not cooked fresh at all. Again had defo waves of supermarket bought. Save your money go to the shop buy a set Indian meal for 2 and a. Can guarentee you it will be better than this place.

Craving Indian food on my drive through Scotland, I decided to stop by here. WOW. Best decision I made. Incredible, great tasting food for a great price. The ambiance and kindness of the staff blew me away. I really felt like I paid regular fast Indian food pricing for a superb dining experience. Real roses on the tables, heated towels after, and the staff even opened the door for me as I left. Would highly recommend The Rupali Palace to anyone anywhere in this part of rural Scotland. As an American on a quick tour thru Europe, this is easily the best dining experience I’ve had on this entire trip.

Came in on Monday and had probably the best chicken shashlik in four decades, the Tandori Prawns were excellent too. Nice to see a traditional menu with traditional cooking and the owner and chef were very friendly. I Highly recommend this lovely Indian restaurant.

Had a great meal here. Food was amazing. The lamb biryani in particular was absolutely top notch. Really good value too. And Ali was attentive, helpful and friendly. Would absolutely go back in a heartbeat.

From the fresh crispy popadoms, fresh starter of mixed Kebab to the hot fluffy Naan bread served along side Lamb Bhuna with Pilau Rice and perfectly salted chips. Wife had a house special. All steaming hot perfectly cooked not greasy and perfectly spiced. Perfectly served by the amazing staff. Just the perfect meal out.

There was not a huge choice of Indian restaurants open on a Monday so we thought we would give it a try. We booked a table for a Monday evening as a treat before going back to work on Tuesday after 2 weeks holiday. We were not disappointed. We were made very welcome and shown immediately to our table. Very good menu. Food was excellent. Would definitely recommend and will be back.

Just had my first meal from Rupali. The Balti was first class. Generous proportions of my mixed meats and still some crunch to the vegetables. Delivered quickly and piping hot. I look forward to many more delicious treats.

What a great find. Tasteful interior and friendly staff. The food was excellent, best we'd had for a while: clean flavours, well cooked, and tasty. Will be coming back.

Was thete sunday 10/4/22 food very poor chicken pakora starter very dry stale ! Mixed tandoori main course beef like leather pork the same difficullty cutting never mind chewing ! Chicken reasonable.VERY disapointing

We had a great Birthday Party here .Lovely Guy serving us,nothing was too much trouble .Food was really top notch ,we all had different dishes but we all found them good .Indian dishes were beautifully spiced .One person had Sirloin Steak and loved it .For five of us with soft drinks and Alcoholic Drinks it was a bargain £121 .Some had three course for £14 which was a lot of food for the money .You have to order before 7pm for this .Lovely chocolates free at end of meal .Enjoyed by all.x

First time using the Rupali. Recently moved to Forfar, we will without doubt be using it again. The food was very tasty and hot.

Waited for half an hour after my order was suppose to be ready, as did several other people.

Great food but add an hour if ordering for delivery.

Ordered online. Had to call them to ask where the order was . Said it would be 10mins. Very slow and the food wasn't the hottest on arrival considering its only 500ydd from the restaurant it should be hot . Very disappointed 😞

Ordered online and food came quite quickly but quality of the food was poor. We ordered 2 different curries but they both tasted the same (bland) and were watery, as was the rice. Very disappointing. Not cheap either. Would not order again.

This is the second time their delivery has been over 2 hours late, I have them the benefit of doubt the first time but there won’t be a third. Terrible service...

Absolutely brilliant. I love the food, the staff and the restaurant. The food is excellent, the staff are very attentive and the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere. I cannot wait to go back.

This is the second take away we have had in the past couple of months and again the food was very average at best. Disappointing as the food here is usually very good.Add the fact that we ordered the food to be collected at a specific time with plenty of notice then had to wait nearly 25 minutes. All in all a poor experience, think it will be a while now before we try the Rupali Palace again.

Food was nice, if you don’t mind waiting 2 and a half hours after it said it would be ready. the chips were very soggy however and staff were useless for helping with the speed of the food.

Have been to the Rupali Palace many times and usually really enjoy our food there. Unfortunately on my last visit I wasn't so impressed, probably just my choice on the night. Most of our party had a good meal. Will be back soon as it usually provides the best indian food in the town.

We went to the Rupali for the first time since lock down for the Eat out to help out initiative and ended up going back three times. We have always been fans of this outstanding restaurant and our meals were delicious. For curry fans the Rupali is one of the best restaurants in Angus and we will continue to go back.

An appalling evening at the Rupali Palace. Have been before and enjoyed, but tonight's experience was like being in a completely different restaurant.Waited 20 mins before being served drinks, which were wrong when they finally arrived.Starter served one hour after arruving and it was all cold and samosa was still frozen. Food obviously not cooked fresh. The phone at the bar was loud and wouldn't stop ringing which was very off putting when you just want a nice quiet evening.Staff running about mad and there seemed to be so much attention being made to the food coming out of the kitchen for home delivery. As a restaurant customer, felt very neglected.Appalling and won't be returing as it spoilt a special night.

the food was mediocre, however, not worth the wait. came in at 7 and received food at 8:30. it did surprise me to see that no members of staff were wearing face masks, considering the situation the world is in at the moment. we were also not asked for our contact details.

Food is delicious and always very friendly

As a regular at the Rupali since opening I have to say the last couple of take aways have been poor. The korma has no coconut taste & my husbands Balti was bland.... not the norm that he usually gets. I was told there was a new chef. We tried again tonite was told due to the volume of orders that it would 2hrs which I said was ok....3 hrs later it arrived & very disappointed & the wrong naan. We both loved having meals & take aways for here but it’s definitely gone down hill. Time to start trying other places....

Was able to get a table on Fri evening without a reservation. Lovely food, very tasty and plentiful. Service was good, although we had to ask for a couple of things. Was good value for money as well.

Lovely place to eat. Really friendly staff who look after you and make your time there very enjoyable. Highly recommend!!

Very good food and was excellent serice

Excellent service and delicious food for reasonable prices. You can’t beat the Rupali Palace. It was a cold night, we were seated near a radiator, lovely warm surroundings. The waitress was attentive and had thoughtful suggestions to accommodate my diabetes.

The Rupali is one of the best Indian restaurants in Tayside. The menu is extensive, the food outstanding and the prices are very reasonable. The staff are always welcoming and very efficient. The Rupali is a real gem.

We just had a delivery from here and the rice was all clumped together like it had been made ages ago and reheated! My korma had no taste at all and hardly any chicken! My husbands tikka was inedible in his words it was rank and it went into the bin and he had to go out to a different one! Disappoint to say the least and will definitely never go back or recommend!

Had a gorgeous meal here tonight. Service was attentive but not intrusive.staff were so friendly customer service was 100% the best I have seen in a very long time Highly recommend this restaurant will definitely be back.

Amazing curry great friendly staff.

Ordered 2 chicken tikka masala, 2 chicken korma, pilau rice, a plain and a garlic nan. Right, where to start. The chicken korma did not taste nice at all, the tikka had 5 medium pieces of chicken, the sauce split leaving the plate sailing in water, and the rice was undercooked with lots of hard rice grains. The garlic nan was absolutely tasteless. So for 4 carry out meals with rice and 2 dinner plate sized Nans for £45, in my opinion is poor. I try not to leave negative reviews, but I struggled to find a positive in this. Probably will not use again.

Have been going here for years and always at 5pm. Went last night to be turned away and told that they don’t open until 5:15. Went back to the car and sat there for 15 mins and went back in at 5:15 to find a table of 4 all seated. The young waiter needs coaching in a little humility as he comes across far too cocky. It was clear the owner wasn’t there as he is always very pleasant. Change the opening times on the website to reflect the new policy

Friendly staff in a great atmosphere. Indian food was delicious and reasonably priced. Great place for a romantic evening with great food.

Good food. Plenty to eat .Good waiters. Only complaint would be handles of cutlery need to be scrubbed. Will come again.

Back to the Rupali Palace for a family meal, 10 of us this time. Everything was top notch. The food was great as always, a few of us trying new dishes, as well as some going back to old favourites. Service was excellent, ne complaints at all and we will ofcourse be back soon.

Myself and my partner live in Aberdeen where there are lots of good Indian Restaurants. However, none even come close (in my opinion) to the excellent service, high quality food and overall dining experience at The Rupali Palace. It’s my favourite Indian! The Staff are so warm and friendly and the owner is an amazing Chef and goes above and beyond to accommodate you. Dishes can be adjusted to suit your taste. Nothing is too much trouble! Absolutely love this restaurant. The food is just incredible. We recently dined at the Rupali with my in-laws (who are regulars) and although the restaurant was busy with Saturday diners the staff were very attentive and looked after us superbly. I cannot wait to return! Happy to make the 100 mile round trip for one of Dal’s Pathias!

I have been several times now hoping that it would be better than the last visit, but no sorry not for me ...taste not there, but nice ambience and service..

Very good Indian, good selection on the menu and not too expensive. Service was on time and the curries were really good. The passanda was not too sweet unlike some other Indians. The palak was very nice and the lamb was very tender. We had a very good experience here and I would highly recommend this restaurant!

Back at the Rupali Palace after a wee while away. Enjoyed the meal but had a couple of issues. Ordered mushroom pakora but it was basicaly deep fried mushrooms and could have done with more meat in the curry. Otherwise a tasty meal with good service and a great pint of Cobra!!

A friend hosted the upstairs area for a big birthday. The staff were lovely and great about setting up our music for the night, and we enjoyed a bright, welcoming space, that even had room for a bit of a boogie. The buffet offerings were tasty and extremely generous. We had three courses and coffee, for a very acceptable £15 a head. Will be very happy to go back.

Arrived at this cute little restaurant after finding it via Google maps ... read the reviews so decided to go .. we rang before arriving to make sure they had a table and drinks licence upon arrival we were greeted by a man whom then needed to double check that we had phoned in ... i was then seated. Service was good. Food was average but good sized portions. Tables are a little on the small side as only 2 x plates could fit including drinks. I also found the restaurant to be cold. Other than this the staff were kind, quick and friendly. Flannels were offered upon leaving which I found to be a loverly gesture. Cash accepted Cards accepted Drinks licence on site.

10 of us went to the Rupali and were pleasantly surprised, the meal, surroundings and staff were excellent. The meal was one of the best I have had and I will certainly be going back. Good meal, good price and great Indian Restaurant.

Had a takeaway from here as usual place closed(Kohenoor)... reviews were pretty good? Was very disappointed ☹️ the peshwari naan was dry and the coconut looked like it had been put inside a normal naan bread fell out as soon as you tore bit off!!!.... ( Kohenoor peshwari naan amazing)this makes your curry ... the 2 curry’s we had were tasteless and very little sauce... the sauce to go with chicken pakoras was meant to be a yogurt and mint dip which was definitely not that as it was so runny like milk..... wont be back☹️

Visited here with Freind's whilst.on a camping trip after a recommendation and we weren't disappointed from start to finish everything was first class I would even say this is the best Indian meal I have had will definitely be back

We are visiting Forfar because my wife went to school here and my son - 30 yesterday - has never been to Scotland before, a nostalgic trip.

You need to book to get in... nice authentic food, plently of choice, and friendly staff. Mid-range prices.

Have eaten here a few times. This time on a quiet Tuesday evening it was still excellent. Brilliant food, brilliant service, nice surroundings.

Overnight visit to Forfar for business. 7 of us dined here and the meal was fabulous. We shared a mixed starter and had a variety of chicken and king prawn curries. The dhanzak sauce was delicious as was the Karachi. The nan breads and parathas were the best we have had.

We visited on a Thursday evening thinking it would be quiet but it was quite busy. The staff were polite and courteous and when I asked for advice on a Lamb dish was given good advice and subsequently enjoyed the dish. For me the portions were just right, though I suspect others might disagree. The service was good and considering how many people were there, quite quick as well. In the evenings it is possible to find parking within 200m though not immediately at the restaurant so folk with a disability would need to be dropped at the door. There are several alternatives in Forfar but I will be returning to this one.

I ordered a vegetable bhuna with rice,nan & chips. Very disappointed as the curry had hardly any taste or spice. The sauce was thick not saucy at all which consisted of well over cooked vegetables. The nan & chips seemed average but was put of from eating them. This carry out meal cost nearly £13 and ended up in the bin. I'm so very disappointed and won't be back. Not worth it!

Excellent food as usual , the waiter needs to get a personality and smile not the usual standard of friendly service over our last two visits please get the owner to get him trained
