Saffron Indian Cuisine in Angus

I used to rave about saffron, always said they were the best Indian In arbroath but the last few times have been Very disappointing I think they don't realise what our tastes are you never get the same meal of your choice the same twice, we can really tell the difference. I THINK THEY GJ E US THE SAME SAUCE in every meal and add something to make us think its different ,and their prices are going up every time we order, we won't be going there anymore if this doesn't improve, don't. Ose your your good reputation

If I could zero I would when a 12 year old deliver ur food at 12.30 am has no idea of price. Food is cold not right order who do shout at. Not the little kid anyway

Am am absolutely discussed with how my food came so I ordered a kebab for my daughter who is 9 and before I even opened it was dripping in grease my daughter couldn't even eat I will not be ordering from again 🤮🤢

Seriously need to replace their veg more often. My wife likes a vegetable curry from them and it's always a 50/50 gamble if it's going to be good or not. Sometimes she loves it and sometimes the veg is borderline rancid

Recently had a take away from here for first time in a while and last year our meals were OK but not brilliant! On this occasion it was excellent! mixed pakora starter spot on. My chicken masoori packed with flavour and chicken cut into huge chunks and mouthwatering. My wives chicken chasni was perfect. A lovely meal keep it up! But sort discount code on website thats been broken for months!

Saturday night take away. Paid £40 - king prawn madras and king prawn dupiaza and 2 garlic nans. Have used Saffron for years and it has steadily gone downhill over the past few years but tonight was the last low. Curries had heat but no flavour. Nans - plenty garlic - but nans soggy like dumpling and very undercooked. It’s important to support local business but done wasting money here and Carnoustie will benefit.

The food isn't as good as it used to be, Unfortunately. But that being said the Currys are still very good but the spice levels are a bit extreme. All the dishes have nothing, and then the madras is vastly overloaded with spice. As a person that likes vindaloo's, that madras is hotter than the normal Vindaloo. If you get a set meal, prepare to be stuffed. You get loads of food for your money, for example the meal for one is enough for two.

I would highly avoid this restaurant, it is full of horrible staff who look at woman and treat them in an inappropriate manner. My partner left here feeling very uncomfortable as the staff kept coming over and harassing her. The food itself was disgusting as well.

Always a good curry from Saffron, recommended

Ordered a pepperoni pizza and a portion of peri peri chips. Quick delivery but the base of pizza was soggy and soft and the peri chips were hard in middle. Used to be a good takeaway, but went down hill. Very disappointed.

Until recently I was very satisfied with with Saffron They were always courteous and friendly. They were more than happy to oblige with my special requests for my (which I have ordered the same for several years) However, out of the last 6 times when I placed my order it has arrived 5 times with something wrong and not always the same thing that is wrong (An example I request 2 large tubs of chilli sauce and I got 2 small tubs or 1 large) I’m only giving them 2* because they were great until recently otherwise they would have been given 1 or even zero

Saffron is our go to local Indian takeaway that we recommend to everyone! The curries are so fresh and absolutely delicious. The chicken tikka masala is the best I have ever tasted! My boyfriend loves the lamb vindaloo. Always good size portions and friendly service.

First time ordering from here and will definitely be getting from here again, I got the nachos, donner hoagie and chicken pakora, the delivery came so quick that I thought the food was gonna be cold but It was piping hot and it was extremely delicious.

One of the best take away curries we've had. Ordered easily online, paid and collected instore. Menu selection is authentic, diverse and inspiring. We enjoyed a variety of chicken dishes and bhajis, cannot fault. They were wonderfully cooked and spiced, rich with flavour and plenty of veg and chicken pieces. It wasn't swimming in oil either! Great value for money... a main dish would feed me twice easily. Genuine Indian food cooked with care and skill. Will be back! Thankyou

Pre ordered for collection and they managed to mess a very simple order up, which resulted in the food being late, cold and dry. When I complained the staff werent in the slightest bothered, very disappointing

Saffron is our 'go to' Indian in Arbroath. Good size portions and food is tasty. Particularly like the vegetable bhuna!

Used Saffron whilst on a self catering holiday Sept 2020. Great menu choice for all kinds of 'heat'. Asked for home delivery which was faultless within half an hour.Food was as ordered and wrapped in foil to keep warm. Wife was delighted with a topping of cashew nuts on her Pasanda. I went for the Chicken Village which was heat wise 1 step below my usual Madras. All in all 5 stars from us.

As always, amazing, although somebody has been messing with the pakora, not as fluffy and amazing as before, what's happened? Punjabi Korma is always the best I've had. Hope the pakora tonight was a wee blip. Other than that, best takeaway in town by far. Good work.

Unlike some other restaurants the portions were huge and all the dishes we had were very tasty, service was really quick and the price was very reasonable. The carry-out next door was very busy with locals which is always a good sign

I have been here on a number of occasions over the years. I am very pleased with the quality of service and value of products provided. Staff always have been friendly, polite and professional. No complaints and would definitely recommend to anyone.

Ordered a Hoggi which was nice enough but no salad. Phoned to complain and guy didn’t have a clue. He had to go check the menu to establish that it should have came with Salad. Very disappointing. Far better in Arbroath

A takeaway favourite, love the curries and can’t fault anything we have ever ordered from here. It’s always piping hot and they is very little left overs. All round crowd pleaser.

Bought a curry a few weeks ago from here but had a very upset stomach after it , not sure if food poisoning or just coincidence.

We had a lovely carry out 3 meals chicken biriany lamb buhna and a chicken corma this is the 2nd lovely meal we have had from the saffron indian in arbroath defo reccomend it for a carry out meal quick delivery to our caravan as well

Best carryout food I've had for a while. Fresh veg in my rice was delicious. Fast delivery too. Well done. I've not had an Indian meal for years. But this will be my first choice next time I have a carry out.

Having not eaten in the restaurant for a few years, we paid a visit last night, and were very pleasantly surprised. The food was very good, and served up with some very tasty sauces and chutneys. We won’t leave it so long before our next visit.

Huge food portions.Breads, purée and chapatis excellent. Little Bit overpriced to be honest. Strange choice of tables, chairs, crockery for an indian....felt more like transport cafe with posh china. Metal table and plastic chairs and not your usual indian look and feel to the way the food is delivered. Just a bit odd. Waiter not unfriendly but didn’t really listen to our order, so got the wrong wine and the wrong chapati. Just didn’t listen or even look when we pointed to the items on the menu for clarity. Would come back if needed a curry but rethink what we order, and expect a non indian experience.

100% recommend!! Just had a korma, pilau rice, plain man and chips and it was amazing! The korma was so creamy and not oven the top with coconut which I love. Will be going back soon😍

Love the food in this restaurant. Dishes are far superior to many other restaurants and have fantastic flavours. If you love your curry this is the place to go.

Absolutely nothing wrong with food nice taste and well presented plates Ambience could be improved. It’s clean but you don’t get impression of tidiness and preparation. Good reasonable prices.

The restaurant door was jammed open with a chair because it was a hot day ?Possibly They wanted you to enter via the takeaway part of the restaurant this was not actually clear After shuffling past the chair we got inside the restaurant manager / waiter Im not sure which turned up to ask if we wanted to orderWe ordered Coke which he brought with crushed ice which was all very nice and cost £2.50 he also brought a couple of menus when I open the menu the first thing that jumped out at me was that food remnants of some curry covered the page and on another there was still a lump of sun-dried tomato? sitting in the middle of one of the pagesWe ordered and I deliberately left the menu open at the very badly stained page with the lumps of food on it but the menu was just collected closed and thrown back onto the pile of menus We were the only diners in there, so now I was getting worriedIf they can’t be bothered to clean the menus what else don’t they clean?The food arrived and as in many Indian restaurants there was far too much for anybody to eat but it was OK and there were no unfortunate after effects so can’t complain there The service was glum but not outright hostile Would I go back ? That’s a definite No

Quality food, Quick delivery, reasonable prices

My other half wanted fast food and he suggested an alternative to his usual haunt in Montrose. He ordered a chicken kebab and a donner one as he is a hungry man. The box was heaped full on both dishes! The quietest he has been in a long time, He gives the saffron 10/10

Oredered takeaway to our hotel. The meal was delivered a few minutes early. The food was hot and fresh. The delivery driver very pleasant. Tasted great and we were very happy with the whole service. Will use again .....no hesitation!

Used to visit regularly for a takeaway as it was handy but prices have gone up considerably , would rather travel further out of town for a better quality more reasonably priced Indian meal. £10.50 for a vegetable Korma no rice included!!

La comida siempre es genial de azafrán, lástima del personal. Durante mi reciente visita, el empleado que sirve fue increíblemente groseros conmigo, cuando le pregunté si había pimientos en el curry, que sólo se encogió de hombros y no ir a pedir el chef.

Otra excelente llevar a cabo, la calidad del cordero era de primera clase y nos fuimos para su curry estándar y no nos decepcionó. El Chutney cebolla era de primera clase y si uno tiene que ser negativo, entonces quizás el Pokora era un poco...

Been a couple of times on a short day out from Dundee. Tea time on both occasions, so not terribly busy. Food and service has been excellent both times. Will be back

Have in the past had a meal in the restaurant and found the food quality very good albeit we were the only one's there, however tried a take away this evening and the quality was still very good and thanked the restaurant accordingly.

Ordered a takeaway last night. Delivery was on time and the delivery driver was pleasant. The meals were appalling. The Lamb in the Jalfrazi tasted like overcooked beef. The chicken in the tika masala was like eating cardboard. Pilau rice and naan was OK. We used to enjoy their food, but this is the second bad meal we have had from them so will not be going back.

Went here on the off chance, it was pouring of rain and we were Hungry , the place was quite empty but it was only 4/30 on a Saturday afternoon , we had the high tea, pakora were a wee bit hard, but I have say the chicken bhuna was the best I've ever had, my partner had lamb tikka masala the she said the sauce was fantastic but the lamb was just cooked lamb. Not lamb tikka, overall was great and I will be back

My wife and i dined here last night on the £10.95, 3 course high tea deal.The meal was superb value for money.Seek kebab starters were lovely.My wife ordered the chicken tikka kebab main which she said was yummy.I had the lamb balti which was the best balti i have had in a long time(lamb just melted in your mouth).The service was very warm and welcoming...thanks Lynda.We will definitely be returning in the near future.

Food was nice enough; I have had better, I have had much worse curry's. Service was quite slow, but the place was quite busy and only had 1 member of staff on. Our garlic nan looked like it had been painted with neon green paint. We did take our leftover curries home and microwaved for dinner the next day, and they were lovely as reheats.

I have been at Saffron two times and both the service was very nice and warm. The food was great, fresh and tasty. Great value for money!!

the kebabs are ok , don't like bhuna sauce that has peppers in it, horrible, its a clean modern takeaway but the workers seem to look at you with a hint of suspicion?

Presumably this place does extremely well out of selling food to people who've had enough of a skinful to not be overly picky about what they're eating, and not to wake up the next day and assume their churning guts are a result of anything other than the booze. For anyone intending to get a meal without sinking a dozen pints beforehand, I'd advise caution.The menu is varied which is often an indication that no particular cuisine is going to be that high in quality, my grandfather who is of advanced years and in poor health gamely attempted to make a dent in an admittedly generous portion of scampi and chips which he was too polite to admit until afterwards was cold to the point of congealing, my wife and my in-laws and I tackled a variety of practically identical curries distinguishable only by their violently unnatural shades of red and orange. A half-inch layer of something viscous topped each one, perhaps it was oil, perhaps it was ghee, perhaps it was Castrol, who knows. Chunks of chicken of varying levels of gristliness lurked beneath, mine was ok, my wife's was mostly beak and sinew. Three varieties of naan bread were ordered, three identical ones were supplied, although one had a mysterious dusting of green froth that might have been related to the requested garlic or might have been some kind of lichen, they certainly didn't taste like they'd been baked any time in the last few years. With an unfortunate lack of foresight we'd also ordered starters which I'd describe as freshly prepared only if by "prepared" I meant hauled from a deep freeze and given a bath in a lukewarm fryer. Regrouping the following morning, of the five of us who had eaten, everyone had experienced some kind of unpleasant internal disturbance overnight from one or other end, or both.On the plus side the portions were huge and the service pretty quick so if you're after an enormous amount of food at very short notice this is the place for you. If you'd rather wait for something of decent quality I recommend you go elsewhere, we parted with the thick end of £60 the other night and I begrudge every penny.

Not usually one to complain but after coming home from work to order something nice for dinner this was far from it. Waited over an hour and a half, we ordered at 7 bearing in mind this may be peak times we didn't bother so much. When the food arrived, eventually the only hot thing was the pakora. The donner meat was freezing and looked/ tasted like it had been left from the previous night. The meals arrived without the dips we ordered also. After phoning the restaurant the man who answered didn't bother to much about the freezing cold food but the dips were dropped off 10 mins later. Very dissapointing! Waste of £20 and a tasteless dinner leaving us hungry still.

Typical Indian cuisine scene. Quite dark, windowless environment but food and ambience are very good and prices are reasonable.

Needed somewhere to eat on arrival in Arbroath, found this place, it was dead but I was warmly welcomed. My favourite dish was not on the menu but they fixed it up for me and it was the best bhuna methi gosht I have ever tasted...very tasty. Place is small and they played some great cheesy 70s classics from "superstars" like David soul and David Cassidy.....quality with a silent Q......would I go back....yes, staff pleasant, service good, food fantastic....music tosh......

We have a caravan in Arbroath so are regular visitors but decided to try Saffron for the first time. No menu or price list outside which should have rung a warning bell, but in we went. On a Thursday night the restaurant was empty, but we received a reasonably friendly welcome and some menus. For a small restaurant with 20 seats the drink prices were very high as was the food. We received free popodams and onions which were great, fresh and tasty. I ordered lamb dopiaza and my wife had chicken punjabi masala. My curry was excellent, chicken dish enjoyable and portion size plenty which we could not finish. Two curries, pilau rice & one small cobra came to £30.00 and my advice would be to have a mid-week offer to try and attract customers. Would we go back, based on value for money no.
