Chillies Of Carnoustie in Angus

We visited on a Wednesday evening and we're net with a warm welcome. We ordered both Indian and Thai dishes, all of the dishes were beautifully presented and delicious. Staff were friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back

A lovely lunch, with fresh onion bhajis and biryani to die for! Nasim and Polash are perfect hosts, both super kind and attentive. Chillies overlooks Carnoustie seafront, so it's really worth going during the day as the view is stunning. Great food and service in a top location. What's not to love?

Lovely restaurant with large windows and we loved the fairy lights. We were out walking earlier in the day and stopped to check out the menu. When we arrived later for a meal, staff remembered us looking at the menu and thanked us for returning. Staff were all friendly. We enjoyed all our food and had a nice bottle of wine. Nice music too. No complaints from us x left with full tummies 😋

Starting on a positive note, the restaurant is attractive and well laid out, with windows all round giving pleasant views out to sea (winter daylight hours permitting). The welcome was genuinely warm and the service was good. However … the actual good is nothing short of dreadful. I’ve had nicer meals in a supermarket microwave pack. Nothing good to say at all - old, tired popadoms; horrible, soggy- centred, cannonball-sized pakora; main dishes that looked like huge portions of dog-food dumped on a plate. A fair attempt to cheer the plate up was made by the addition of a sculpted pepper, but more attention to actual main dish would have raised the standard no end. Sadly, this meal was truly awful. If you are VERY hungry and don’t care what you eat, by all means try Chillies. Very sorry for waiting staff - they are lovely, but they must know what they are serving!

The food is so flavoursome and there are so many different menu choices. Each dish is so good and I would 100% recommend visiting. The staff are so friendly and polite and service is fast.

We enjoyed dinner on a warm summer night.A nice restaurant overlooking the water. The food was plentiful and delicately flavored. Nice helpful staff and surroundings clean. Popular with families but since there is a lot of glass windows it was a little loud. Plentiful parking. Large serving of wine. Average price.

This was a great venue to meet up with friends. Excellent service throughout but especially in dealing with my husband’s allergy to garlic. This prevents us going to many Indian restaurants but he had a great meal & we would highly recommend.

Appetizer:Garlic Prawn Entree: Railway lamb We arrived late at approximately 8:45. No other restaurants were still serving food. We wished we had come here first. A group of seven, we were treated extremely well. Our server was patient with everyone. Even those who knew nothing about Indian food. Some wanted no spice, some a little and some a lot. My dishes had medium spice but don’t be fooled. The flavors were very robust. Off the charts good for almost any pallet. Everyone in my party raved about how good the food was. No exceptions. If you can please seven guys on a golf trip from the Midwest USA, you can please anyone. Thanks for a great meal and end to a really fun day.

The staff were all lovely and very attentive to us from the second we came in the door. The food was lovely and flavorsome. On leaving the restaurant, the lady wished us luck for the birth of our baby in August. It was just a lovely relaxed experience. No long waiting times but the food was fresh and piping hot. Surprisingly the restaurant was very quiet but we had a fabulous experience. We had a window seat with great views, had a lovely welcome by the staff and were looked after throughout our meal . I loved the fact we were not rushed and were able to take our time between courses. Will definitely return and highly recommend this Indian restaurant

First time at this restaurant, so not sure what to expect. The service was excellent and the food exceeded all our expectations, really the best Indian food we have ever had. Would definitely recommend it to everyone.

It is a shame that trip advisor doesn't have any rating between average and very good. It is very good in terms of food, but definitely not so good in terms of prices and value. Chillies used to be a great alternative to the Ganges when the Ganges prices went through the roof, but Chillies prices are now comparable, probably more expensive now. For 4 people sharing starters a main course each and a drink each expect to pay £130. Appletise juice £5, Nan £4.25, Pakora £6, Rice £5, Curry £17 - are you joking us? No wonder people aren't using these places. We could have had some kind of early special but they would rather you never noticed. They only have one red wine by the glass and one white wine by the glass. Too bad if you don't like the one they do by the glass. They are completely unapologetic about that. Makes no sense to me. The views from the restaurant are amazing but the table wasn't clean. The service is nice but a little more attention to detail would be nice and a bit more hustle would also be good, it's a little on the slow side with only two people out front. Having said all that the food was very good but £17 for a curry with no rice or accompaniments isn't good value and for that reason I would suggest paying the same or less at Ganges.

My friend and I visited for a birthday meal and enjoyed the 3-course early bird special. The food was delicious and would totally recommend, we both love Indian food and would say this is one of the best meals we have had in a long time.
