Ganges in Angus

The food was delicious! We booked a 730 table and the place was packed, it was too loud for us but not a fault of the restaurant. Service was a little slow but the staff were very friendly and polite. Obviously struggling from the amount of people in at one time.

Like to order Ganges when get munchies after my weekend smoke min. Definitely reasonable food. Prices not too bad.

Superb Indian food. Absolutely amazing tandoori and naans. Not had a bad curry from here either and we've had a fair amount of variety too. Decent prices for most things and the more expensive dishes have seemed worth it too!

The food and service was as always was first class. Our waiter was very pleasant and guided us through its fairly extensive menu. We visit here anytime we’re in the area and it’s never quiet so best to book in advance to avoid disappointment.

What a great place. Different decor but welcoming and spotted a couple having a small 4 plate meal so asked them and they said it was a Tapas meal so we ordered it. 4 great dishes and flavours were great. Highly recommend if your in the area

Food arrived cold. Curry tasted very bitter and the lemon rice was overpowering also. Expected better will not re order again

We always go to Ganges when visiting Carnoustie and this visit didn't disappoint! Lovely warm welcome, lovely decor. and the food .....amazing flavours. Went back again the following night for more. 10/10

Delicious … I’m working my way through curry’s in Carnoustie and to date this is my favourite. Still too much sugar/sweet compared to authentic curry but yummy

This is the best Indian Restaurant in Scotland in my opinion. I cannot fault it in any way. We go every year on our annual golf trip to Carnoustie and every year it is amazing!

Far in front of any other Indian restaurant we have ever tried. We eat in and get takeaways and they go above and beyond to accommodate allergies. Best food ever and great service. Thank you!

I’ve submitted a refund request, but wanted to add more. Several items were cold and the tandoori starter was 50% bone. We also didn’t get our order until 20:35 (40mins late) despite being there on time. Suspect the food had been sitting to go cold.

It was recommended to us by the AirBnB where we stayed. The service was fast and the staff were very friendly. The food was delicious! Highly recommended!

What a great place, a Tuesday night and really busy so better to book in my opinion, food was superb and what you can’t eat you take away, thought my best Indian meal was in Newcastle but this beats it hands down, staff 10/10

Picked up a takeaway whilst staying in the area - was absolutely first class! 100% recommend, was the best curry I’ve had in years.

Fantastic food, big portions and the staff were all SO lovely. We would like to specifically thank (possible the manager) the gentleman who wore a white shirt with the red tie, it was a pleasure to be in your company - you were very attentive!

Beautiful Indian to sit in or takeaway. We were impressed by staff friendliness, quick service and the food was really good. Felt the curry was a bit smoky which was strange but tasty nonetheless. Beautiful inside and car park a 2 minute walk away. Saw families, couples and friends all eating, can dress up or casual.

Excellent food, collection spot on

we are visiting the area so have no experience with local takeaways. we had chicken thali and a chicken tikka chasni. it arrived a bit early which suited us fine. the food was great. huge portion for the thali (basically three different chicken curries with rice and nan) and the chasni was excellent. driver friendly too. thanks

Delicious food accompanied by faultless service. Greetings from the restaurant manager upon arrival which set the tone of the evening. We had a mixed starter for two, followed by a tandoori mixed grill and a spicy chicken tikka Masala all of which was outstanding. Service we received from all staff was exceptional. 10/10 :)

Best curry in Carnoustie hands down. Our last visit was on Valentine’s Day and we started with the mixed starter for two which was a nice mixture of different items. We were given plates with a variety of dipping sauces and everything in the dish was great. For the main I had a moonlit chicken and my partner had the spicy chicken tikka masala. Both curries were excellent although I think next time I will get something spicier with lamb. The cheese and garlic naan deserves a special mention, it had cheese inside the bread itself and was nice and melted. Service was all very fast and friendly. The price was also extremely reasonable for the amount of food we had.

A great restaurant for good food, service and atmosphere. Even though the waiter dropped a full bowl of cooked rice on our table (he was very apologetic and shocked..😲) it didn't detract from a wonderful place to eat good authentic Indian food. Plenty to choose from on the menu and very tasty flavors throughout the meals we have had over the years. Can't really fault it. Even the carry-out food is delicious.

Normally great food however this order was absolutely disgusting and was only fit for the bin The dishes had more oil that the North Sea Tandoori mixed grill was dry The Starter in the containers were floating in oil I think they forgot to put garlic on the nan breads I genuinely will never order from here again

Ganges was fantastic. Couldn't fault anything, and no surprise the place was fully booked. This is traditional Indian good done right, non pretentious, not trying to be ever, just making damp good food. Honestly, everything was Brill. The grilled/sizzling stuff was ace, as ead the garlic paratha. Worth a trip to Carnousite especially, if say.

Food was delivered roughly at the time stated. However, from point of ordering until delivery was an hour and twenty minutes. Driver was a nice guy, no issue on that front.

Food is excellent, the portions are generous and taste great, especially the chicken mirpuri. Only gripe was we received an extra rice instead of a garlic naan.

Everything was perfect. Can't fault anything. Young waiter Kyle was a credit to this restaurant. He was exceptional.

Had a fab Sunday dinner, nicely attentive staff and manager. The menu had the classics as well as many other different styles. The food and drink prices were very fair. Unfortunately it is a wee bit off the main road, albeit in the middle of the town.

We wanted to try somewhere different for my best friend's birthday: he has recently relocated to Scotland from America and after research, he choose Ganges Restaurant, which I had never been to either. We had reserved a table in advance and were immediately shown to a cosy corner table by the window. The dining room is tastefully decorated and has a cosy and intimate vibe. Our drink order was promptly taken and as the designated driver I enjoyed a mocktail, which was very tasty, the birthday boy enjoyed a Cobra beer (good to see it was on draught and not just served in a bottle) and his partner ordered the mango lassi: it was absolutely delicious and clearly freshly prepared by the kitchen - I would definitely order this on a return visit. We ordered a portion of mushroom pakora, which were served piping hot and with three dipping sauces. For our mains we each selected a different option that we hadn't tried before and opted for keep rice and cheese and garlic naan to share with our dishes. Each curry was delicious, as was the rice which was perfectly seasoned. However, the outstanding highlight was the naan bread, which we all agreed was worth the journey alone. Service was attentive, but unobtrusive and I found that the food was very reasonably priced for its outstanding quality. Definitely the best Indian restaurant that I have visited in this region of Scotland and I would not hesitate to return for a special occasion.

Absolutely perfect. Had my birthday meal here tonight and it was the first time we'd been. Can't wait to return. Everything was perfect and the service was excellent. Definitely a place we look forward to bringing people to. :)

We had been recommended by multiple people and decided to order a Ganges takeout for four adults. The food was exceptional and very authentic. We will certainly be returning.

Fantastic restaurant, was recommended by a friend and didn’t disappoint. The food was amazing and the service was first class, we were made feel really welcome and the staff couldn’t have been more attentive, I even got a piece of biscoff Cheese cake on the house for my birthday! Would highly recommend this wee gem of a place to anyone 👍👍

We had a beautiful dinner at the Ganges! The food was delicious and the service was 5 star. My husband ordered the Vindaloo and was very happy. The other vindaloos he has had were not as spicy and as good as this one! We will definitely be back. The best authentic Indian food in the UK and USA we’ve had in 20 years! Thank you!

We ordered a takeaway to be delivered to the caravan site we were staying at. It was delivered quickly with a very friendly delivery driver. Food was hot, fresh and delicious.. very authentic, the best curry we've had in a long time. Would highly recommend.

My guesthouse host Lisa recommended The Ganges, said it would not disappoint…Lisa was right! The food was absolutely AMAZING. Staff were brilliant. The restaurant was quiet when we arrived but quickly filled up. Probably best to book this in advance to avoid disappointment.

My husband and I went here for dinner after a friend recommended it and we will definitely be back. Food was amazing. We both had starters and mains and shared a naan bread. All the food was delicious and we were very full afterwards. Staff were lovely and very attentive. We went on a Tuesday night and it was very busy with a lot of take aways going out but service was still very good. Having had it recommended to us we will be recommending to others.

We went to the restaurant with family (six people including a 2 and a 1 year old) the staff is very accommodating and friendly. I have been to a few Indian restaurants the last 30 years but I found this one the best I have been to (some restaurants come close but for me this was top notch). The food was excellent the service was great. There is a parking lot a few yards down the road (free after 5:30pm). Ganges has a cosy feel to it, together with the friendly staff is sets a lovely atmosphere to enjoy fantastic Indian food. Highly recommend to go eat there.

Wonderful meal the Ganges restaurant last night. Not one to normally write a review but found this wee gem of a place. Food and service was excellent. Very tasty starter and main meal. Moth watering food and welcoming staff! Visited here with my girlfriend and had a lovely meal. The place was packed and the staff still managed to find us a table and get us fed within 15 mins of sitting us. That sort of services goes a long way and would highly recommend to anyone travelling to Carnoustie.

Nice service and location. Food was oversugared and unfortunately far from authentic.

You will probably not get a better curry anywhere in Angus (or Dundee for that matter).

What a shame. This place was recommended to me and I can see many glowing reviews, so maybe I was just unlucky but the main dish i had simply was not what it said on the menu and clearly whoever was cooking it didn't really know what it was meant to be! Green herb chicken is not common and so it was great to find it on the menu...and the description was just what I would expect: coriander, mint, methi, garlic, ginger, not really hot at all but punchy with herbs and a "touch" of yogurt. However what i got was sickly sweet and cloying extremely "creamy" korma with some coriander in it. I did query it and the waiter clearly was not at all familiar with the dish so asked what I woudl like instead..I said I'd like the dish on the menu and so it was taken away and came back with a bit more coriander, a hint of mint, huge amount of spring onion and far too much chilli! So it was virtually indedibly hot. In the end I quietly said that it was not at all acceptable and I couldn't eat it...but they still tried, initially, to charge for it all. I simply said that I would pay for half of the main course only and so the bill was taken away and changed and in the end they knocked it all off the bill. And it is a shame because the staff were actually very nice and trying to be helpful, plus the naan bread was excellent (which I made sure to tell them!) but the fact that no-one seemed to recognise that the dish was a complete disaster does ring alarm bells about what is going on in the kitchen, and this is not a cheap restaurant...

Waited over 2 and half hours for food. Called multiple times and was told on each occasion its way. From where Belgium?) Had this been a busy Saturday night I could of kind understanding about the lengthy wait. But it was a Tuesday night. Also the curries seem to be overly salty these days aswell you should stop taking orders if you can't deliver in the time you say which was 45 minutes. Absolute joke will.not return.

Very tasty authentic Indian cuisine! They were able to accommodate our 10 man golf group with a days notice for a Friday meal. Staff were friendly, giving us excellent food selections based on our individual tastes. Highly recommend. Online booking was available and easy to use.

Small but tastefully decorated, I got a table of 3 booked with no hassle Service was OK thought the younger of the 2 ladies working looked a bit like she couldn't be bothered being there We had startes, mains and sweets I'm afraid I don't share the same opinion of some other reviews on here I thought the Jumbo king Prawn Tandoori lacked taste, and the sag gosht could have done with more Sag in it, poor and mix Tandoori platter were very nice Overall, it was pleasant but a little pricey

Ok, there are hidden gems and there are nuggets of gold. Simply this is the best Indian subcontinent restaurant I have been to. All the food is cooked fresh and the staff are friendly s as he attentive. Strange that it is in Carnoustie. If it were in Edinburgh, people would be raving. The secret is now out!!!! Get in there!!!!

Superb ! Wow!! What a fabulous restaurant. The quality of the food, aromas from the natural spices , food options was fantastic too many nice things on the menu! There was ample wines and spirits to select from, beautiful ambience and tables well sanitized after each patron. One of the parties had a gluten allergy and the team at Ganges diligently ensured everything was perfect and so too it was !! Carnoustie is so lucky to have such a fantastic restaurant & takeaway!! The food was so good that we went back a second night during our visit to Scotland. Wishing you continued success so deserved !!!

Quite simply , the best Indian food I’ve tasted in the U.K. ! Great variety of dishes available all freshly cooked to order . I’ve been fortunate enough to sample Indian food all over the world ( including India ) and this is up there...

My favourite Takeaway and Restaurant but again another disappointing review. Restaurant and Takeaway food is very very good but when busy as tonight standards drop. Takeaway meal for 2 delivered and AGAIN No Onion Chuckney and No Sauces for starter. No quality control from kitchen...

Food was delicious, service was great.

Takeaway (home delivered) ordered via the website. So easy to do, and it arrived quickly, hot, fresh and totally delicious. It was all good, but the mushroom pakora and garlic paratha were particular highlights for me.

Went here as a one off while we were staying in Carnoustie, seen the reviews and thought we’d give it a go. Can definitely say we weren’t disappointed one bit! I’m a very fussy eater and like a bit of everything so asked for 3...
