Food has gone downhill over last year

Ordered the set meal for two takeaway. Ready when I went to pick it up, still hot when got it home. Absolutely delicious chicken patia and korai, fluffy naan and very tasty pakoras. Best takeaway by far and great value for money.

Raj Mahal’s meal for 2 is excellent value! Perfect portions, a great variety of dishes, and everything is packed with flavor. It’s an easy, delicious option for a cozy night in without breaking the bank. Highly recommend for quality takeaway!

Attentive staff, good choice and lovely food. Had a mix of chicken and lamb dishes, all cooked well and flavoured. External condition let's it down a little, but tasty.

Needs a good clean and a rethink on the decor

Food VG BUT the restaurant itself was what some would call tired and others would say needs a good in depth clean...Decor very black which is not a good look for a place with only one window....paintwork chipped and dirty...sat beside a radiator that had not been cleaned in a long time.Toilets were just about adequate but cold and dim...only one staff to take care of tables so waited a long time.....it was not a pleasant experience to sit in this restaurant and although the food was very tasty we will not return....if the public area was at this level what could the kitchen be like....needs a lot of TLC.

We had a lovely night and a great meal. The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. The food was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and we will definitely be back.

£4 for delivery to be 1 hour late is shocking. Especially when ordered at 6:30 for a 7:45 delivery to arrive at 8:40 - Only for it to be missing items then not answer the phone. Quality is always good but will collect and not get delivery again.

Wow seriously wow Lady behind the bar was really professional and that’s really the only positive. Restaurant staff were really arrogant and would never go back to a overpriced shocking experience

Food was fantastic, nice to be back on the mainland for some good food, they made me a fresh meal after I spilt my drink on it at no extra cost, Excellent :)

I have been going to the Raj for the last 12 months and the food is excellent. It is so consistent and outstanding. We are a family of curry lovers and have tried several similar restaurants in the area but the Raj is by far the best. I would not go anywhere else. The Dupiaza, bhuna and tikka dishes are amazing. The atmosphere is great and it is always busy. Love the Raj.

My order was delivered almost half an hour late , the naan bread was quite burned and unfortunately there was a small piece of plastic container in our rice.I phoned up to complain and the answer was , we were incredibly busy tonight and we will speak to the kitchen .Shame as the food was good but we were put off by the other issues.

Food was late & cold. Had to microwave it. Really disappointed.

I visted this restaurant last week 17 July. It was one of the best Indian meals I have ever tasted. The decor and surroundings are beautiful. The staff are so welcoming, it was a pleasure to eat there. The next time I am in Monifieth I will definitely be paying the Raj Mahal restaurant another visit. Highly recommended.

Visited Raj Mahal after receiving a voucher for my 65th birthday. Everything about it was excellent. Very friendly staff as well as great food and service. Despite me living in Carnoustie, I won't hesitate to go back to the Raj Mahal as it's only a short bus ride. Thank you Raj Mahal for a lovely dining experience.

I had family here from all over the world there was 21 of us with two children aged 10&11, my 86 yr old mum.. every course we had was broughtt out together & hot, nothing was wrong everyone enjoyed it immensely.. the staff was so attentive to us all but especially to my lovely mum .. they also looked after the kids, took photos and generally very helpful.. what a Great night,,, that’s why it’s my favourite Indian Restaurant … Brenda xx

We visited the Raj Mahal while staying at Riverview Caravan park, just a short walk to the restaurant from the park, what can I say, beautiful food, great staff and very helpful, lovely atmosphere, staff were brilliant, we shall be returning.

Got a carry out but as soon as you walk in your made welcome and the atmosphere is nice food is delicious 😋

Food was freezing when it finally arrived. I only use this place for Indian food and never had a problem but today let me down. Chips were soggy, curry and nan were stone cold. Delivery driver didn't even say anything. Rubbish tonight

Lovely friendly welcome. Restaurant was busy with a lovely atmosphere. Menu was extensive but not overwhelming. Had lamb tikka, with a bhuna sauce, rice, naan. Partner had balti. Food was outstanding, been to many curry restaurants over the years and this place is great. Service was excellent and chef came to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. Highly recommended.

Ordered vegan curry and chicken arrived. Phoned them and they sent chicken pakoras as an ‘apology’

Delicious food. Hunger gets satisfied here. A place where all the food items are full of tasty, in fact much better than many of the restaurants. Just have patience and it will get you well cooked hot and nice food. A nice ambience with nice people to serve you there. I recommend everyone to visit there.

Very nice & friendly service staff and the food was very good. We had pompadom with oinion chutney to start, and Turkish Lamb Kebab and Chicken Bhuna curry with Tice and Garlic naan. The lamb kebab was huge and probably could have fed two. Only disappointment was no choice for the sauce with the kebab. Will definitely be back.

Delivery not bad but the veg samosas are frozen, same ones the gul anar jaha use & the mushroom rice was very oily. When I reheated it th3 next day there was a load of butter at the bottom of the tray. Garlic naan as standard not much garlic flavour just green paste & they ignored my request to add cheese to it. Think I'll stick to the gul anar jaha from now on.

I always get a great take away from the Raj Mahal. The staff at the front desk are really helpful, polite and awesome. I am so glad that they are local. Keep it up guys!

Well, another venture to Moniefieth in our Motorhome and another visit to this wonderful eatery for me and the wife. Again the staff were welcoming, friendly, chatty, professional but relaxed. The place is clean, tidy and beautifully decorated. Starters: Shammi kebab for me and chicken pakora for the missus. Both delicious and well presented. Add to that popadoms and dips and it's a great prelude to the mains. Mains: Chicken Tikka masala for the wife and prawn vindaloo for me. Shared pilau rice, garlic and cheese naan, peshwari paratha and a tarka dhall on the side. All wonderful. I'm typing this on the morning after and believe me the vindaloo was proper😲🔥🔥😁. Tarka dhall was 100% spot on. Just the way I like it. Great portions too. The only slight niggle was we tried to book a table via their website but got no reply. Just a wee technical glitch I assume. All sorted with a phone call. All in all another extremely enjoyable experience. We will definitely be back, over and over.

After my last delivery took over 2 hours they offered me money off for this delivery. Cause I was getting money off they gave me barely any chicken in the tikka massala. Not going back

Food very nice however service is shocking! Pints of lager dumped on the table in front of my sons partner twice, wine dumped on table unopened to fend for yourself. Another tables drinks dumped on table and had to call staff back to remove the drinks. Would not return as waiting staff require some training for food and drink over priced.

Arrived ridiculously late, and no apology. Food was lower quality than usual. Will not be ordering from them again.

Dined here for the first time on Saturday evening along with 2 friends, we were seated as soon as we entered, we were on a time limit so we informed them of this, ordered our starters and main courses which came out super quick, the food was delicious, probably the best Indian food I have ever had, the service was amazing, the ladies were so nice and welcoming, will definitely be back, highly recommended 👌

Order incorrect. Took several telephone calls to sort out. Items x5 that were short took a very long time to be delivered, over 40 minutes. It seemed the restaurant was uninterested in resolving.

A Luvly large. bright spacious restaurant, decorated for Halloween which was luvly. Ordered a bottle of house wine as we looked at the menu,and njoyed pops with chutneys. We ordered a mixed starter for two to share a Railway lamb curry, tandoori mixed grill with pilau rice. and a garlic naan and a garlic chapati . All our food was delicious, freshly made and well presented, I couldn't finish my meal so a doggy bag given. Which was thoroughly enjoyed the next day. Other staff members came over to speak to us during our meal, which was really nice. So thank you to Agata and all the staff. We will return :)

Super tasty as always. Food was delivered right on time, and was lovely and hot.

Food was lovely as always is however, the service was an absolute disgrace! Waited an hour and half for starters. Then waited 45 minutes for a kids ice cream which we ordered before finished food. The wait staff were really rude, really inefficient and a couple of the staff were completely incompetent. Bringing us stuff we hadn’t asked for, saying yous didn’t have ice cream. Just a whole shambles. Love the food but will never be back there again because of the service!

Ordered a Kashmiri korma which is meant to be made with either fresh mango or pineapple. The dish that was received had been made with tinned fruit cocktail. This spoiled what would have been a very nice dish as the chicken and rice were cooked perfectly. This left us quite disappointed.

What a fabulous family who run this restaurant so friendly and welcoming. The food was great value for money as the portions are generous. Sadly we missed their tea time deal but we had South Indian garlic chicken and garlic chicken tikka both dishes are very tasty. A lovely end meal to a weekend away in Broughty Ferry

Wanted to try a take away before a dine in meal as we hadn’t been before! Oh my, the take away was absolutely amazing!! Both my husbands and my meal were excellent!! The only thing I would say is that there wasn’t any sauces with the starter-it wasn’t a big deal only an observation!! Can’t wait to try a dine in meal! Highly recommend!!

WOW! WOW! WOW! Visited midweek for the first time. We were blown away by the food-copious quantities of tasty ,flavoursome ,well spiced dishes. The mixed grill tandoori and king prawn tandoori dishes were both cooked to perfection. Our wine was a crisp sauvignon blanc which accompanied the meal perfectly. Service was excellent. Delighted to have met the owner who is a lovely gentleman and a Polish lady who helped us arrange a taxi. We shall be returning in the very near future. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Visited here with friends after it being recommended. Time of booking 7.30 pm, food served 8.50 pm! After waiting all this time expected something spectacular, it was good but have had better. Friendly staff but got someone's else's drinks bill. It was not broken down and just an overall drinks charge which if not spotted someone else had a cheap night at our expense. Honest opinion, Bombay Joes' in the ferry is better.

Over an hour later than the expected delivery time. Still waiting for our food and it has now been nearly 3 hours since we placed our order! Called the restaurant and keep getting told it’s on its way.

Order was early for pickup which was excellent, poppadums and chutney are amazing, the pakora was very overdone so had to throw this out which is a shame :(, the curries were amazing and they added what i asked for which was very good of them and the naan was also great, just a shame about the pakora.

Food was excellent but could have been a little warmer. Also did not get the correct naan (got 2x garlic instead of 1x plain & 1 x garlic) and were missing a poppadum. Really enjoyed all the meals though regardless.

First time ordering. Food was piping hot and very tasty, and arrived sooner than expected. I just felt bad as I had no cash to tip and said as much to delivery driver but he said it was no bother at all and he hoped I enjoyed my food. Very polite. Will definitely order again.

Absolute joke of a restaurant waited 40 minutes for a take away which had been sitting on the bar for 30; minutes. management laughed when I complained. Never again

Enjoyed a chicken kebab and an Egyptian kebab last week. Both absolutely mouth-wateringly delicious …oh - and the Pina Colada was perfect! Lovely atmospheric setting with beautiful, caring service too! Thank you!!
