I popped in past here for a fish supper a couple of weeks ago, I have had a huge amount of fish suppers all over the place over many years but never from here.I was gobsmacked to say the least, it was without doubt the best fish supper I can remember having for a very, very long time, the batter was crispy and not at all greasy, the fish itself was moist and succulent and the chips were excellent too, everything was piping hot also, the portion was very large and all wrapped in a paper parcel, much better than those useless trendy boxes. A real delight to eat.I called in again last week, again in passing, guess what? Same again, identical, everything was just a repeat of the first time so 10/10 for consistency too. This time the tables and chairs were out on the little patio outside so I sat in the late afternoon sun and savoured every mouthful which was a lot! I can't wait until I get the chance to have another supper from here,I will try and make it soon.Only one down side, it is a pity they don't have a little sit-in facility as it is a take-away only they would make a fortune if they had seating.

Turned up here for a fish supper having been recomended to go elswhere, but this chip shop was closer, when I gave my order for fish and chips along with mushy peas only to be informed but a rude lady who I took o be the owner, that at 6.40 pm on a Friday evening. there was none, and her attitude I found unacceptable, after all it was week end was upon us, any chip shops would have stocked up, but her attitude was couldnt care , less and rude, having just moved to area , I found this most unwelcoming and am sure there is better mannered staff elsewhere, as for the fish and chips they were ok ,but the mushy peas would have finished it off,,,,,,,, I wont be back I will go to were I was recomended to go , Chips and Things in Ferry Street.... I was also informed buy another customer she was known for her rudeness.........

Friday night we met our daughter off a very late train and stopped at the Grove for our tea.It was 9:30pm and as we walked in the owner said they were about to close, but we were welcome to anything they had left. We decided to just have chips, which were wrapped up. We were also given forks ‘just in case’.Even though they sat in the back of our car for 25 minutes on the journey home they were still red hot and in perfect condition when we came to eat them. The portions were huge - which may have been something to do with them closing - and the staff very polite.I can throughly reccommend The Grove and will definitely visit again. We have driven past it hundreds of times in the 8 years we have lived in the area and wish we had stopped there sooner..

We stopped here for supper on our way to somewhere , my wife had fish & chips and I had a cheeseburger. The chips were passable but the cheeseburger had a tiny square of plastic cheese and the burger had no texture to it . The fish was tasteless and greasy . Probably the worst chip supper we’ve had.

Dropped in for something quick before a family function. Had breaded haddock and chips which was fab. Lovely friendly lady served us in a spotlessly clean shop. Best chips I've had in a long time. Definitely will be back.

Great, fresh food. Their pizza crunch is delicious and not too oily. My family think it's the best chippy in Montrose.

Stayed in Montrose for the weekend and just happened to come upon the Grove when my friend and i were out for a walk. We had already passed a chip shop in the main street but it didnt look very busy then we happened to see this one. It was a lovely Friday night and people were sat eating their suppers at the few tables that were outside. There was a queue inside (always a good sign i think) so we waited our turn and didnt have too long to wait. I have to say any wait would have been worth it. My friend had fish with a small portion of chips and it was plenty. She said it was absolutely delicious. I had a white pudding supper. It was the best white pudding i have ever tasted and the chips were amazing. Well done to the staff who were really friendly and kept the place lovely and clean. If ever in Montrose again i would definetely pay another visit.

Building was freezing (guy told me they get told off for it all the time but it was still too hot for him), there was only one fridge of produce so half the menu was missing, and the food we did get tasted terrible, my partner got one of the menu sandwiches and actually said “there’s no way subway can sell something that tastes like this”. I for sure, will never be back.
