Great home cooked food, not cheap but you get what you pay for as you can tell effort goes into the cooking and presentation. Had a few visits and will continue.
Stopped for lunch and enjoyed a wonderful minestrone soup. Deli is in the front and a small cafe in the back. Very friendly staff, very relaxing and reasonable prices. Definitely worth a visit.
Visited Castle Douglas last week and had lunch at the Scottish Pantry.
Our soup and sandwiches were very pleasant and the soup was piping hot.
Coffee and cake to finish off.
The prices were very reasonable and I would happily recommend it.
Been here a few times as I live in the area. yesterday was appalling... I got served tea with milk and should have been without. I went to the counter and politely asked the chap with the black beard for a replacement, he looked so angry and didn't even apologise! he shouted when the new one was done and it was so hot I had to leave it for 10 minutes to cool down only to be told they closed in 15 minutes.. (apparently the dishwasher was also broken and it was in a takeaway cup) there were clean cups on top of the coffee machine. I don't know about you, but tea in a paper cup isn't my cup of tea.
Not the first time that my friends received bad service and rudeness. If you don't like your job, go find another and leave the paying customers away for the drama in your head inflicted onto us.
Enjoyed a very memorable stay and meal at Haar.
The lobster was personally recommended by Dean and was the best lobster I’ve ever tasted.
The staff were very attentive and the food didn’t disappoint. Looking forward to another visit.
Perfect in every way! Delicious food, gorgeous staff and a cosy stove to relax beside. We've been coming to this beautiful hotel for years and it will always be number one in quality and service.
Great little cafe with a nice view. Good coffee and cake, excellent breakfast with dairy free options. Lots of interesting books to browse through. Preferred the breakfast here to the hotel breakfast we had actually paid for, so came back 3 days in a row!
Fun packed cafe, with excellent welcoming owners. Delicious rhubarb and ginger crumble and custard, and lovely chocolate cake.
First visit, we will definitely be back.
We ordered a takeaway from the menu online.
We were charged £54 for the following
Veg pakora
Popadoms & spiced onions
Chicken bhoona
Rice
Garlic nan
We called to querie the price as it differed from the online menu price.
We were told by the owner that there was two menus and the most expensive menu was the one we should have ordered from.
I asked why there was two menus and he advised ‘he couldn’t do anything about this, that it was an old menu’
I asked why a meal for one was so expensive and they said it was because the produce was expensive.
I feel £2 each for a popadom and £5.50 for a nan bread is overpriced
The food was ok but definitely wasn’t worth the price.
The pakora was a small portion and consisted of 6 small pakora pieces the nan bread was definitely not cooked in a tandoor oven. It looked and tasted shop bought.
Extremely disappointing and I wont be ordering from here again.
There are many restaurants/takeaways that I will be using that are way more value for money in the local area.
We have contacted trading standards about the menu so other people are not mislead when ordering from here.
Very poor 👎🏼
This is a lovely restaurant, just reopened with a new chef. Excellent service, couldn't have done more for us. The food was great, best curry we've had for a long time.
I went with my husband and son and we all enjoyed our meal.
We were recommended to try the Silver Spoon cafe by friends. We were not disappointed. Warm welcome, varied choices of cakes. Salted Caramel sponge was huge, so light and tasty. Rocky Road was also good. All reasonably priced.
My aunt recommended this place as I was taking her out for lunch and I had never been. I ordered soup and a main course and she ordered a main course and a dessert. After a wait of about 20 mins the waitress arrived with our 2 mains. I told her I was still waiting for my soup. She took my mains away and I told my aunt to start eating before her food got cold. Another 10 minutes later my soup arrived which was in all fairness, piping hot and delicious. Then another 10 minute wait for my own mains to reappear which was stone cold, obviously just left from its previous visit. THEN another waitress appeared to tell me it was 'my fault' for not asking for the soup to be delivered first as they serve the soup there after the main. Never in my 70 odd years have I ever been to a restaurant where the soup is served after the mains. Also noticed the couple on the table next to us were delivered another tables food. The tables were not allocated an individual waitress and they appeared to just go around the various tables at random. It was totally disorganised and to be told the error was 'my fault' was outrageous. I for sure will never return or recommend and my poor aunt was mortified as this place was her idea. I checked my receipt and this whole debacle took around an hour and a half for a snack lunch. Be warned.
