Today I had the pleasure of visiting Karelia's and safe to say it was one of the best experiences. The coffee is lovely, the cake I had was divine and so many gluten free options which is rare. If the cake and coffee wasn't enough we spent 2 hours looking around an amazing shop. I could not stop smiling the entire time (which didn't go unnoticed by staff, 😅) The shop had a wide selection of fabrics and patterns, it has influenced me to try to learn quilting as well as my dressmaking. Then we come to the wool, I left with new projects I hadn't even thought of doing as the selection was so vast. The staff were absolutely wonderful, kind and helpful. Being able to see a workshop happening was amazing to watch and hopefully I will attend one in the future. The experience was so positive I will now be a loyal customer and cannot wait to attend again. Well done to everyone there, amazing.

If you knit, crochet, sew, quilt, embroider, cross stitch, dress make or any other craft you can think of requiring fabric, yarn or threads, then this is a place you cannot miss. There's such an array in such a small place, it's impossible to see everything in here even walking twice round, every time you look somewhere, you will spot something else you hadn't noticed before. There's some home baking and teas/coffees available too, I can thoroughly recommend the carrot cake! Huge piece, very tasty and not that dear either. As with everything prices have gone up but still worth the visit, especially for their own unique yarn, camel and silk and it's to die for!

I first heard of this craft shop at the Inverness Knit Fest earlier this year. Their friendly and helpful staff impressed me enough that I decided to make the trip from Kirkcaldy to see what the shop had to offer. I was not disappointed and it was well worth the visit. They have an excellent range of good quality yarns, patterns and accessories and there were bargains to be had. Also a great range of sewing/quilting fabrics but I’m more interested in knitting so didn’t have a good look at the sewing stuff. Lovely wee cafe with a tasty selection of cakes and snacks to suit all tastes and includes food intolerances/vegan options. The lady who served me was very helpful and nothing too much bother for her. All in all best yarn shop I’ve been to and will definitely be back.

If you like soup and a sandwich, great. it's the place for you, but if not then there I really nothing else. My partner and I discovered this place while doing the 8 mile walk from Aberfeldy to Kenmore. It was Saturday afternoon so very busy but they seemed to be managing well and there was a pleasant atmosphere. I had a hot chocolate and one of the soups of the day - "spicy citrus bean" which was delicious and I was able to have it with gluten free toast as I am a coeliac. My partner got a cheese and bacon toastie which was also very nice. We didn't have cake afterwards because of having plans to go out for dinner later on but the cakes all looked lovely and very fresh and there were a good range of gluten free options! Karelia House is a treat for crafters who like to touch the skeins of yarn, yardage, and notions. The staff is helpful and not pushy. You can browse for as long as you like, maybe have some tea and scones while you think about your possible purchases, and go away feeling like you've been hanging out with your fellow crafters. Do check out their huge bargain bins. When I was there, they had still-bundled from the factory ten-packs of major brand name yarns.

At the end of one the most stunning long drives in Scotland is this hidden gem. Situated by the edge of the River Lyon, surrounded by robins and swallows, we enjoyed a relaxed lunch of delicious tomato and pepper soup, quiche and a warm pastrami panini. Accompanied by coffee and lapsang souchong tea and served by warm and charming staff. Magical!

We haven’t been to the inn for a while. But as Sunday lunch here has always been good we headed north for a family treat. And treat it was! They have a new chef, Thomas, who introduced himself to us (and other diners) and was keen to know if we had enjoyed our meal. We had! This is not a traditional Sunday roast - it’s above and beyond better. The gravy was sublime. I asked what was in it and he said chicken stock and a lot of love! Treat yourself this is the best ❤️

Lovely location, good service and great food. We had bacon rolls, an egg roll, followed by scones & cakes, all were excellent. Will definitely be back on our next visit to the area.
