This is a real hidden gem. Set off the beaten track it takes a bit more effort that some of the more bouge cafes in Troon, but if you're looking for honest food and a fair price in a cafe you can get a seat in....its well worth the extra 3 min walk.

looked online for places in Troon that served gluten free. Thinking coffee and cake but would look at options available. Arrived around 11ish on a Saturday. only 1 other couple in the cafe. Mum and i sat down as no one to ask. Took around 10 mins before we got an order taken (girl was on her own and making 1 coffee at a time) she had to ask chef what there was GF for us to be told there was nothing GF as they had no bread but she'd asked the staff member due in to get some. We asked if they had GF cake and again they had nothing. i had chosen this venue as i saw a review giving it high recommendation for GF options and staff knowledge and my mum made it clear to the girl that was why we were there. unfortunately i don't think we'll be back. By time we had been served and finished our coffee the shop was full so obviously popular. such a shame (dogs are also welcome. mum wasn't keen on them being there so something to consider)

Poppy’s is open for dinner the week of The Open. Excellent food and the only place you will find Scottish dishes such as Cullen Skink, haggis and apple crumble. All dishes are home cooked with fresh vegetables and reasonably priced. Operated by the owners. BYOB as they are not licenced. A wee gem.

Used to go here with my elderly dad & loved it (past tense now sadly). Went for some good home cooked food but left disappointed. Spoke to one of the staff at 1.30 and they said 20/25 mins for a table, we'll call you. They hadn't by the time we went back at 2.15. Ordered food and were told they weren't sure if they had the Mexican chicken - we were then told they had no chicken and not sure what they had. The girl then went to check and came back to say there was no food left! However, they could do a broccoli soup. Have had consommés that had more veg. Thin and lack lustre and very over priced for what we got. At least it was hot. Folk arriving after us were told they weren't doing food. Better if you had been honest. Had a reliable steak bake at Greggs round the corner. Thank you Greggs.

Visited our favourite dog friendly cafe in Troon today. Popular as ever with three other well behaved dogs. Service was prompt and staff cheery, prices are good. Sat beside a middle aged couple at the next table. Male smiled at us and our dachshund as we sat down, however, the lady was rather more solemn. We gave our dog his dinner from his bowl on his mat, also fed him a few treats. When the couple went to pay the lady complained to Jackie, the manageress, about the dog next to her table, there was one on the other side of her table. She said it was fed from the table and other comments. We found this out because, Jackie, rightly so, came up and spoke to us about the points raised and she also spoke the group at the next table with the dog about the same points. It is a dog friendly cafe and we, along with many others, enjoy visiting. We will continue to go to this lovely cafe. If people do not want to have dogs beside them and I understand this, then do not go to a dog friendly cafe etc.

My son and I visited this afternoon on a cold , damp day . We were also here a fortnight ago. I just have to commend the staff for their friendly and helpful welcome . On both occasions I have had bacon rolls and scrambled egg rolls. They are made to order and were piping hot and well filled . It is rare to find rolls which are hot and generous ! Coffee is also nice . The decor has been updated and toilets are clean. Well worth a visit . My only negative remarks concerns a dog which came in on my previous visit . Staff were patting the dog but I didn't see any hand washing from staff afterwards . It advertises as dog friendly so I hope appropriate measures are in place .

Really like the new interior decor- the placement of tables, some of which were in booths, made for a more intimate place, as well as covid protected. Myself and my partner came here very recently on a lovely walk from prestwick to Troon. We were just walking by and saw a sticker in the window which read dogs welcome. Dog friendly is a bonus as I go lots of places with my dogs they place goes as far to offer the dogs a bowel of water another plus in my book. We sat down and we were greeted and served very quickly. I had a toastie and baked potato followed by and empire biscuit. My partner she had a toastie and another dish I can’t quite remember what as well as a cake and a hot chocolate. I also had two soft drinks. This all came to £31 which I felt was very reasonable.Points to also note the portion sizes are very sizeable so good value for money. The staff are very accommodating we saw a girl with specs needs that the staff were very patient and kind also letting her come behind the counter as to select her own cake. For me this is above and beyond I like seeing staff go the extra mile. We will return on our next walk to Troon

What a lovely little coffee shop providing fresh homemade soups, toasties, panini's etc There is a range of coffees and a good range of herbal teas as well as soft drinks. There is also a wide range of fresh baking that looks amazing, I'm sure it's homemade. The staff are absolutely lovely, very friendly and provide some water for dogs and a wee treat (if they are well behaved). What a treat! Absolutely recommend this place and look forward to returning.

Always go to the Poppy Room when Im back in Troon. Staff are really friendly and the cakes are delicious, especially the different variety of scones. Great service and they also welcome dogs which is lovely.

We visited last Thursday the 1st of June for lunch during a very wet day in Troon. We had come out for the afternoon from Craig Tara Holiday Camp to visit Ayr and Troon. We were welcomed to the Poppy Room with our two children right from entering and had a lovely snack lunch. The food was delicious and we enjoyed it all in very relaxing surroundings. The staff were very friendly and got to know us as holidaymakers even suggesting what we could do on such a wet day!!!!! It was a lovely little place and we would certainly recommend it to anyone. Thank you for your company and for making our visit pleasant in the rain.

My partner and I went for a lovely wee lunch yesterday and we weren't disappointed. There was a bit of a wait but we weren't in a hurry . Food is excellent and certainly worth the wait . I tried the toasted fudge scone and it was delicious. My partner and I will certainly go back . Highly recommend.

Not a tea room. Just a basic cafe. Coffee was awful. Tea served in a mug. Cakes under glass domes looked like they'd been there for a week. Shabby decor. Service mediocre

Went here with some friends after working up an appetite swimming. Food was absolutely stellar and all staff gave an excellent service with a smile. Great range of food and very accommodating to dietary needs, it can be a struggle to find somewhere with as many options for dairy/gluten free diets. 10/10 will definitely be back regularly.

Went here for breakfast, before getting the train. After checking out previous reviews, we were pleasantly surprised. Good food, freshly cooked to order. Staff are also willing to swap if you don't like certain items. Only thing I didn't like was, the toast comes buttered. Friendly staff & decent price. Will definitely visit again.

Thought it would be a quick stop en route to the ferry but shivered for 20 minutes in the car park for our breakfast rolls. Square sliced and onions tasty enough but (instant ) coffee was rank. Never again.
