Alessio's cafe & bistro in East Dunbartonshire

Have now been to Alessio's to eat in about 4 times and also had a good few takeaways. The food is always lovely and the coffee is delish. The staff are always friendly but unfortunately the service is just a bit too slow. Visited this weekend and it was busy, so it is understandable that service would be a bit slower than normal however we waited around 35 minutes for two egg dishes (one eggs Benedict and eggs Stornoway) - not ideal. This place would be perfect if the service was just improved a bit! All in all though, it's a lovely wee local place :-)

We are here recently, for Sunday brunch. Great brunch menu and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. The coffee was good too. We had to wait a while to be served & for food but it was busy and we were in no rush. It was worth the wait. There are tables outside and if eating inside staff wore masks and the door was open throughout, to provide good ventilation.

Stopped by today for a bite to eat and some coffee. Courtney served us and the service was second to none. Cheerful and happy whilst serving us. Highly recommend

First visit to this establishment a few months ago and we waited over half an hour for food , staff excuse was that the order was misplaced in the kitchen and we left.Today 25th August 2020 our 2nd visit and low and behold same again our food order was not submitted to the kitchen was the excuse. Our 2 coffees were given FOC but no apology and we left.Poor service and attitude.Cannot rate the food as never had the opportunity to eat here.

Visit weekly! Lovely place for lunch. Staff are super friendly. Food is tasty. Will continue to return.

Great place and we regularly visit for coffee and cake My only complaint is that on the occasions when we have visited for breakfast on a Sunday morning - the service is a bit slow

Lovely local bistro style - perfect for brunch with the family! We visited with three kids and the staff were helpful, making sure we had plenty of time to decide on what we wanted and answering the kids’ questions. Food was lovely and we’ll definitely be back!

This coffee shop is a great place for families couples friends or even going in alone the staff are very friendly and helpful service is excellent and fast great choice on the menu.

Lovely place, food looked great, service dreadful. After being seated we were completely ignored. Had to go to the counter to ask for menus. 5 waiting staff behind the counter, not one showing any interest in the punters. Couple next to were waiting to order as were we. Still no one came to the table. Went to Calders in Cumbernauld instead, lovely

A fantastic place to eat in Kirkintilloch offering traditional Scottish mixed with continental quisine. My wife had a roll 'n' sausage & potato scone from the breakfast menu which is served until 3pm (they must know what time she gets up at) while I went for the crayfish and avocado in lemon and chive mayonnaise on brown bloomer sandwich with sides of delicious red cabbage coleslaw, tortilla chips and lamb's leaf, cucumber and tomato salad. I've had a similar meal in a very nice Parisian bistro but it couldn't hold a candle to the meal I had in Alessio's. The service from the very attentive and friendly staff made it a pleasure to eat here. We will definitely be back and can't recommend it enough.

Despite it being a busy Saturday morning, the staff managed to put tables together to accommodate the 7 of us. We had a variety of different breakfasts, and there was not a single crumb left on any plates. Beautifully cooked poached eggs and a good variety on the breakfast menu. Can't fault the service. Staff were serious but attentive and certainly not unfriendly. Two of the party found it difficult to hear due to the natural echo of the building, so if this is something that troubles you I would ask for a seat through the back.

Had lunch with friends in this busy local cafe/restaurant.very nice.i had tuna toastie that came with a scrumptious red cabbage dressing type addition!will return!

I love the service, the owners and the cafes, especially the late. The decor is nice and the services are fast.

Cracking food and drinks, service is always friendly and efficient and it's easily got the best baby-changing facilities of any cafe/bistro/restaurant I've been in lately. Thumbs up! (Oh, and the Cannolis are delicious, save some space for one or two with a coffee after your lunch)

I always go to Alessio's with my mum and daughter when I am on holiday.The staff and service are very good and they cannot do enough for their customers.The cafe is cosy with lovely decor.The coffee is delicious and there is a good selection of cakes to choose from.The best cafe in kirkintilloch,never disappoints.

Each time we visit the food is second to none, the staff and service are fantastic they can’t do enough for their customers hence their popularity, the coffee is amazing but please have bigger coffee cups and keep the cost of the coffee down, keep up the good work we love you all

Go to Alessio's every time I'm in the Kirkintilloch area. The coffee is delicious and the food never disappoints, have a different item every visit! The cannoli's are superb!

To my shame I had never been here before! Turns out it’s the perfect place for an impromptu coffee and cake on a sunny Saturday!

I visited this cafe today with family and thought the service, food and coffee was of a very high standard. We all really enjoyed our lunch and cake selections. We’ll definitely be back! You can’t beat a genuine Italian cafe.

Good selection on the breakfast menu - from fancy things like eggs florentine to bacon & egg bagels. Good value & great service. French toast with bacon & maple syrup was superb- generous portion too.

Food and service are good but with a limited menu. This is mainly a quick-eat cafe than a bistro. Food is available but not much variety.

Fabulous little bistro, very popular and friendly staff. Great homemade cakes and scones. Also good variety if you are looking for something more filling. Reasonably priced. Don't be put off if there are no tables when you first go in, a table will become available within a few minutes. Definitely recommend it.

After a week of not being well and not being able to eat had an absolutely lovely soup and half sandwich in here. Could hardly get a a table! But.... 5 older ladies turned up and sat next to us and basically complained about everything. Soup was tasteless etc. Wish I had had said something then hence my review. If you don’t like it, don’t go! In my opinion it was fab just sorry they sat next to us cos that kind of of ruined my experience. Go home and make ur own soup if ur no happy! I will be be back

Stop there once a month with some friends. Always get a good coffee and a snack. Very friendly staff make the place stand out.

Just had baked potato and Hubble had eggs royale and he said that it was fantastic! Great quality food and coffee is the best. Great to see staff that are so friendly and helpful! Highly recommend.

Been here several times it serves the best flat white ever has the fern on top which is always perfect!! Spent a lot of money on coffee in various Barista coffee shops this is by far superior. Lovely friendly atmosphere good food too.

Nothing shirt of excellent. Had eggs royal which was absolutely delicious. Poached eggs were done perfectly and salmon was beautiful. Service was also excellent. Staff were friendly and courteous. Will most definitely be returning.

Alessio’s has a relaxed atmosphere, nice decor and is an ideal place to meet up with friends for a coffee and a chat. The staff are friendly and helpful. A great place to go for breakfast, brunch or lunch. The poached eggs are always cooked to perfection, the best I have ever tasted. The coffee is good too.

What can I say, it's just brilliant. It's warm, welcoming, the food is great and it's also a good place to hold a birthday party if you're wanting a more grown up venue. I particularly like the prawn linguine, it's as good as any fancy restaurant in Glasgow.

Great selection of food and cakes with separate menus for breakfast, lunch and children. Enjoyed a lovely lunch, friendly attentive staff. A great find and sure to visit again.

We visit Alessio's regularly and are never disappointed. Brunch is our favourite. The Portuguese tarts are a fabulous finish.

This is my third visit. On the last two occasions I had the full breakfast. Yummy. Today lentil soup followed by sweet potato soup and chilli. Also really nice. Very clean place and friendly staff.

I visited here because the smell coming from inside out into the street was too much to walk past!! Fresh coffee amongst other lovely smells. I had coffee and scone the first and second time and both did not disappoint. They have a wonderful range of Italian pastries and cakes as well as a great menu for every meal. My next visit will be for brunch and I already can’t decide what I’m having. The staff are lovely and the place is spotless. A real find in the high street! I saw people having meetings, mums catching up with little ones, older couples having breakfast, a real mix of people and reasons to be there. Would recommend for any occasion!

Nice freshly made meals with decent service. Been a couple of times and enjoyed the pasta dishes. Woukd recommend

Amazing, efficient service and reasonably priced too. Best eggs benedict I have ever tasted! Poached eggs cooked to perfection. Wanted to try the lovely cakes but unfortunately was too full! Would highly recommend.

My wife and I have eaten a couple of times in Alessio's and have always enjoyed our meals and time spent there. The tables are clean and get cleared quickly. Service is also quick and polite with pleasant staff. Food is fresh and well presented - the crayfish & avocado bloomer is fantastic. Top marks all round for this clean and well run establishment.

Popped in here today with my partner for a Coffee. We were served and seated quite quickly and the waitress was nice and polite.

Excellent in menu choice , service , presentation, quality of food , value and the food tasted really good too. It’s tasted like it was freshly prepared. I think it is the best that Kirkintilloch has to offer for sit in snacks. I will definitely be back

Love going here for either coffee and cake or lunch. Excellent service with friendly staff. Cakes are to die for.

We may have been unlucky that we arrived at a busy time as service was a little slow but as we were catching up with friends it didn't bother us. I loved the ambience and there was a great menu to choose from. Food wasn't warm by the time it arrived, but still very tasty. I've rated this as 4 as the staff and atmosphere made up for the speed. Will definitely return, but hopefully it will be quieter.

Since me and my hubby joined the gym in Kirkie we've treated ourselves to brunch in Alessio's about once a week. It's gorgeous! The service is friendly, the coffee is great and the brunch menu is delicious. I wish they were open in the evening too, it has a feel of the west-end and is a pleasant surprise in an otherwise ordinary Main Street.

Visited for the first time just for scones and coffee, very impressed, staff efficient polite and friendly, but it's a bit pricey compared to other cafés in the area, it won't stop us from going again the coffee was delicious, we will be back but please watch the prices

Went for brekkie with wife. Had toast avacado, salsa and poached egg and blackpudding. All very nice and no complaints at all. Wife had soup and sandwhich..again both very nice.

Regular visit for our family often with baby in tow. Nice comfortable place with very friendly/ helpful staff. Can go for the old style rolls and sausage etc or more modern mix of soups and sandwiches. And the coffee is excellent

Stopped for coffee and a Toasties. Coffee served in a chipped cup, then waited 25 min for my Toasties. Asked for some pickle and told they had none ( serving cheers- have pickle!). Toastie was served with a few crisps and a tiny spoonful of salad which had a runny dressing on it...making crisps and sandwich wet. Such a shame as its a lovely place with nice outdoor seating. Expensive too.

I'm a regular visitor here. Friendly staff, freshly cooked food and a nice vibe. Dearer than the puffer , but what isn't?

Yesterday, myself and 3 friends decided to have morning coffee once more in Alessio's in Kirkintilloch. Again, there was no hurry in ordering, Alessio himself served us and our morning was most enjoyable. Each of us opted for different teas or coffee and everyone enjoyed theirs. My friends were just having scones which looked scrumptuous. However I had overheard someone ordering French toast, something which I had not eaten in a long time, so I chose that. Served with fresh fruit it was absolutely DELICIOUS. Well done ,once again Alessio! Also one thing which makes my visit anywhere more satisfactory is the condition of the toilets. Although there is only one it is always in pristine order.

Get my Monday latte here, also got my loyalty card, added bonus! Only managed to eat a few times, when I have it's been very good, when u walk in it has a lovely feel about it. Staff all very nice would highly recommend

Excellent lunchtime experience. Tables well spaced out, Italian themed decor, friendly prompt service and good quality food. Perfect ingredients for a relaxing meal or coffee and cake. So glad we found it.

Alessio is a very nice and friendly coffee shop wether it is morning coffee,lunch or afternoon tea. It is run by a local family with good service, they have been open for over a year now and doing very well.

This is one of only a few places I've enjoyed a perfect cappuccino in the Glasgow area...Maybe I'm a bit of a coffee snob coming from NYC, but I just expect a nice smooth coffee and good ambiance and Alessio's has both! Will definitely miss this place once I'm back stateside...The food is top quality too, with tasty salads and fresh made soup everyday. Plus, they're very accommodating with young kids and the staff are always friendly!

Popped in with my mum, coffee and hot chocolate were lovely though could have been warmer, service was ok but we had only just finished our drinks when they were whipped away from us.

Daughter loves it!!!! Staff ok but could be a bit friendlier... perhaps down to age/inexperience... Food fresh and tasty and served in a timely way. Would be be nice if breakfast menu could be available all day at weekend... Only criticism is the menu looks tatty on the clipboards.. Would be nicer if presented in a laminate. looks a bit dog eared and if breakfast menu could be removed when it no longer available. Otherwise with a return visit.

Absolutely love this place! Food is gorgeous and reasonably priced. Very welcoming to babies and toddlers! Staff are great. Decor is lovely and the place is very relaxed. Keep coming back again and again

This is a charming place not big but spaciously laid out which makes me feel comfortable and not crammed in. The staff are pleasant and service efficient the food is excellent and cost, just about right though not cheap. We have been back and will return.

Knew I was going to be spending the afternoon in the area, so used TripAdvisor to get a recommendation. Chose Alessio's & glad I did.

Popped in here with family yesterday for morning coffee and cake. The coffee was lovely and the selection of cakes we ordered were very nice. My favorite was the red velvet sponge; a huge slice of moist tasty cake with delicious buttercream. The Victoria sponge was fluffy and also good, but for me the fake cream spoiled it. The brownie was a huge triangle. Thought that the selection of cakes was good and the quality of baking high. Would return and hopefully get to sit in the front next time(with the lovely feature stone wall, think it is nicer than the back part with it's photo wall).

I had the Victoria sponge cake today when polling in to Alessio's. I've got to say, it's one of the best Victoria sponge I have ever tasted. Lashings of cream and jam, fantastic. Loads of other cakes in selection too.

Went here today with my wife and toddler. Had a lot of tasty food and really enjoyed it. Great selection of food. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only snag is that the food wasn't all that warm

This is somewhere I frequent for its excellent coffee but now find its much more than a coffee shop after a recent visit with friends I enjoyed their new idea of extending to small wine and tapas plates in the evenings, it maybe just the best idea they have come up with, only time will tell, however it is exactly what you would want if you are not up for a big heavy meal, I can honestly say the Pate and Sourdough toast was excellent followed by the biggest tapas type board shared between 4 with all the usual choices including the excellent hams and cheeses add on the excellent well priced wine (we polished off 3 bottles ) finished with coffee and as you can guess left very happy. Good luck to Alessio's they deserve to be successful, try it you wont be disappointed. Not a big selection but great if your looking for nothing too heavy

Cosiest cafe and bistro in the district. Staff very friendly. Surroundings lovely and the best coffee I have ever tasted. Sweet treats delicious especially toffee shortcake.

Love this place, so much. Exceptionally friendly staff. Always happy to cater to my food restrictions. The food is most enjoyable. The daily newspapers that are provided are very welcome. You can Catch up on email with the in-house wifi. Perfect ambiance in perfect surroundings. The new photograph on the full wall makes you feel as if you're looking out of your window into the Tuscany country!! Good wishes for 2017 to all staff.

In on a Saturday evening and a fantastic lovely warm welcome received from the staff. Very friendly and courteous and could do enough to help. Food was great and very reasonably priced. Would definitely visit again if I was in the area. Thanks :-)

Great food. The interior is classy and good vibe to the place. Probs the best place for lunch in the whole of Kirky. The owner and staff are all super friendly! We will be back!! x

Alessio's is absolutely fantastic! I've been many times since it opened and it is downright my favourite coffee shop I've been to, great coffee and amazing food! Alessio has brought a bit of class to Kirky Main Street with his place. Used to work with him and he knows his stuff. Definitely worth a visit even if it is out of your way!

Really lovely decor inside and lovely friendly staff. Good food choices and lovely homebaking too Everything that was leaving the kitchen looked piping hot, great portions and a lovely deceptive little/large escape for a cuppa x

I make a visit to Alessio's every time I'm visiting the G66 area, the café has gone from strength to strength since opening and, in my opinion, is now the best café in Kirkintilloch. The food and service is great and all very reasonably priced for the quality. The setting and atmosphere is very upmarket and is a great addition to the high street.

Had lunch here today and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Menu is great as is quality of food. Service is friendly and efficient. The Bistro itself has been well designed with a good ambience. Would certainly visit this place again.

Lovely staff, tasty coffee and delicious food. I believe that Alessio's is fairly new on the Main Street and it seems to have kicked off with a growing customer base. Very clean and well organised.

We had lunch today at Alessio's with my husbands parents who have lived in Kirkintilloch all their lives and this was their first visit. Granted I think it only opened last year.

Been here a few times with a friend, food is delicious, and a bit different to the usual café food, always cooked fresh, great choice and always a specials menu as well, and a loyalty card too, love this place

We popped in for a coffee and cake on our visit to Scotland . We were staying down the road at bothylynbank cottage. we called in several times during our stay foe coffee cake and the odd lunch.

Just popped in here while waiting on my cat being fixed and what a great find! Really nice food, staff are lovely and such a cosy little place. Would definitely recommend going!

went here for a wee lunch with a friend the food was delicious sandwich was huge with plenty filling and the carrot n coriander soup was tasty n filling . reasonable price will be back x

Certainly would recommend this Cafe the decor is tastefully modelled on an Italian theme .spotlessly clean and comfortable and relaxing atmosphere.

After touring Europe and experiencing personally some of the finest coffee shops Europe has to offer; Alessio's comes as a breath of fresh air to Glasgow and thankfully to Kirky. Ironically the worst coffee I had was Italy...Venice, Rome and Florence, they could never get it right. First visit to Alessio's the other day was great; fantastic coffee, great deals, good atmosphere and beautiful decor. He's hit the nail on the head here and set the bar for his rivals.

First visit and had my kids in tow. Guy that served us seemed like he couldn't be bothered and the cakes were a bit melty despite having been in the chill cabinet. No napkins for sticky fingers. Didn't feel very welcome. Won't be back. Is a shame cos it was a lovely wee coffee shop. Will go somewhere where the staff smile next time.

This is a lovely place to have lunch or even just to have a coffee or tea and cake. The soup is delicious as is all their cakes.

My first visit won't be my last, great vibe about the place,I just had a coffee but it was an excellent one. And there was some Blues music playing which is never a bad thing!

This establishment has recently opened last September and is something that this town has needed for a long time , a good friendly cafe and history and all the staff are very pleasant and helpful

I popped in here for a quick lunch and it was lovely. We went for the paninis which were really good and reasonably priced. Also treated myself to a slice of red velvet cake afterwards and it was amazing!! Will definitely be back!
