Disappointed. Friday night on a bank holiday weekend, arrived at 8pm and asked for a table for 2. Restaurant still had more than 50% of customers but we were told kitchen was closed. Clearly couldn't be bothered. I'd never return based on that lack of customer care.
Super sweet, saving my dog from the one o'clock gun. He was so distracted with sweet dog chocolate that he didn't even notice the gunshot. The chocolate (for humans 😂) is incredibly good! And the milkshake is a dream.
Amazing wee cafe with lovely service. Great breakfast rolls and cakes. We came here 2 of the 3 days we were staying in Tobermory. My only wee suggestion would be to take payment for sit-in orders at the time of ordering rather than after people have ate. When we got there it was quite quiet but when we were leaving it was much busier and we had to queue for a long time just to pay. I understand when it’s busy this can happen but would be avoided with only having to queue once when ordering and pay at that point so you can just leave when done. ☺️
Sadly this wonderful place is closing. The welcome was warm and friendly, the setting simply amazing - you look out to sea at the Pentland Skerries, Duncansby Head, the north coast of Scotland - on a clear clear day almost as far as Cape Wrath with the mountains of Scotland .......... but down to the excellent food which is not unduly expensive but served with charm and helpfulness. - we had Chowder (5*+) seafood platter (5*+++) lasange (non fish eater!) 5* and amazing desserts. Could not have been a better experience and ranks 1st equal with one other Orkney restaurant! Just sad that it will not be operating under the current management next summer! We wish them a happy retirement!
We had an amazing lunch here. Truly seafood heaven. Parking was a bit of an issue due to numerous patrons. So we had to park about 300 yards down from the restaurant. So not the worst thing. Otherwise, the service was impeccable. The food was amazing. Even the bread stood out. We had the seafood tower, which had two hot items (scallop and mussels) and three cold (oysters, pickled herring, Langoustines). Everything was cooked perfectly and so tasty. The accompanying tarragon mayo was so good. Highly recommend. They do take reservations on Resy. We will be back!!!!

This is where Google's rating system falls down. 4 stars= like, 5 stars = love. I more than liked it, not quite loved it, so 4½ stars for "enjoyed"?
Anyway, service was excellent. Everyone very friendly and helpful. It was busy too which is always a good sign.
I had the chicken liver paté which was smooth and delicious served with a little too much onion chutney and a combination of oat cakes and soft fresh bread, which was a little unusual but good.
Main course was a bold combination of scallops, haggis, creamy smoked haddock and pressed new potatoes. It was delicious but the haggis was very strong and peppery so if you weren't careful the delicate flavour of the beautifully prepared scallops could have been lost.
I also suspect they could save a small fortune by using at least half the pea shoots for garnish than they do.
That all sounds very critical but I honestly enjoyed it very much. Even the house red was very nice, rich and smooth.
Thank you
Great coffee and food if you can get served. Half the tables were empty and there was a problem with the till or something, we asked to just sit down - she said no. Went to takeaway and waited 20 minutes with two people in front of us. Great place but the organisation of the staff needs attention- a guy said it’s always like this. 45 minutes later the table we offered to sit at, 6 of us, still empty. Just a heads up about organising the staff better.
This is a cautionary tale rather than a review!
I note that the Castle Stalker View Cafe is shown at being less than 5 miles from Kingairloch estate. That's technically correct, but those 5 miles are by sea: by road it's nearer 25 miles, as one has to drive up to Ardgour, cross the Corran Ferry, and then drive down the other side of Loch Linnhe to Appin.
This is one of the best places in Glasgow for a delicious kebab. I often get the kebab wrap with mixed meat (chicken and beef), with spicy sauce and mayo. The meat is always juicy and perfectly cooked, and the spicy sauce adds an extra taste of perfection! Here there is good and quick service, nice ambience, and although it is under the railways of Central Station, it is not too loud. It is a very good price for a delicious kebab, and it is in the very heart of the city! I hope to come again soon. Thank you and all the best!
I've been here a few times with family, kids, grandkids, etc, and always really good. Foods lovely, staff really pleasant and upbeat. We booked for a couples night out, and the place wasn't particularly busy, but we were seated right next to family with 2 young kids, very noisy, resulting in us being unable to have a conversation due to the usual kids antics. I have no issues with this as kids/parents need to socialise, but why put obvious couple no kids right next to family table when plenty other tables could have been offered.
We will try other places before returning. Maybe a little bit of thought could be considered when seating people with no kids on the booking.

Last-Minute Stay Turned into a Wonderful Experience!
We ended up booking this hotel very last minute after our original hotel wasn’t suitable — and honestly, we’re so glad we did! From the moment we arrived, the reception staff were incredibly accommodating and went above and beyond to help us get a room. Their warmth and professionalism immediately put us at ease.
The hotel itself is stunning, with a lovely atmosphere and beautiful decor. Our room was clean, comfortable, and stylish — everything you’d hope for in a relaxing stay.
We were there for two nights, and the next morning I went to reception to ask for champagne glasses and a bucket of ice to celebrate my partner’s birthday. Not only was the request handled quickly, but the staff also surprised us by leaving a birthday card in our room — such a thoughtful gesture that really made our stay extra special.
The cocktail bar was fantastic — great ambiance and well-made drinks. While we didn’t have a chance to try the food or spa this time, we’re definitely planning to do so on our next visit.
Highly recommend this hotel — friendly staff, lovely rooms, and excellent service throughout. Can’t wait to return!
