The best restaurants in Scotland

Good food and great staff. Small cafe on main road through town. The menu is varied and adequate for those visiting. Food is well presented and service excellant.

I arrived on my own with my dog. You have to order inside but dogs aren’t allowed inside. It was quite busy but the waiting staff asked if I was alone and said they’d be happy to come and take my order at the table. They came quickly, took my order and brought it out really promptly. The crab sandwich was lush. I had a choice of white wine, and the Sauvignon Blanc was delicious. They were so chatty and lovely. They were happy for me to pay when I left and I’ll definitely be returning.

The Shore has been closed since the 3rd October 2023. It's now open with new owners under a new name Blackmill Bar & Kitchen.

Great staff who helped us celebrate a family birthday

Got a carry out tonight, pakora and spicy onions were delicious, got the chicken tikka balti, it was swimming in oil. Spoiled it for me

As a local, we love Francos, great family atmosphere and excellent choice of food (we don’t eat meat and lots of options). Kids love the pizza and pasta! Take away is good too! :)

This was a surprise two night break and we both really enjoyed it. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. Food was excellent. The only downside was that our bathroom was a bit on the small side! However, we coped and know which room to choose next time.

We are regular visitors to vanilla joes where they make their ice cream on the premises. Loads of different flavours available. We both had a double cone and then went back for another double cone since we don’t get over there very often. We had pistachio ice cream, and strawberry cheesecake ice cream and Scottish tablet, with Belgium chocolate the second time round. They are nicely served in a quality cone with a lovely wafer.

Lovely evening. The food and wine were really good. The waitresses were excellent. Next time we’re back in Edinburgh, I’ll be back at ROLLO.

Great place to get Fish & Chips. Quality is excellent and staff really nice. We visit every time, when in Aviemore. Take away or in-dining available.

Looooved this place! As a warning, the door opens right onto a stair case down. So try not to throw yourself down it. The food is amazing here. Absolutely loved it and it is very reasonably priced. Cocktails are also great price and there is a sneaky wee outside seating area that is brill on a warm night. Staff are all really friendly and smiley. Totally recommend this place and will def be back.

Lovely meal, had a prawn cocktail, steak fajitas and a strawberry soft meringue roulade. All spot on. The main bar was in good spirits, but for quiet meals the separate dinning room is a nice contrast. Lastly the service, really good, friendly and efficient. Would definitely recommend.
