We stopped in at the bistro part of the Atholl Arms and enjoyed a delicious lunch with our children. We went light - tempura prawns, Cullen Skink and pepperoni pizza, plus pints of cider and Belhaven - and it was tremendous. Tasty (esp the Skink!), good value and helpful service. V pleased.

This hotel is amazing, super dog friendly. The staff are excellent. Rooms are lovely. There were 10 of us for dinner and all of us loved our meals. The cooked breakfast however wasn’t so great but it didn’t ruin our stay. We cannot wait to return.

Came here for lunch, my partner and I are Gluten and Dairy free this makes us nervous to eat out. However the staff went above and beyond, they have a gluten free menu and were able to offer most things dary free if not with minor substitutions. The food was absolutely amazing, and great portion sizes, with lots of choice. The restaurant area is decorated lovely and has a gorgeous relaxed vibe. We popped in on the off chance we could eat and left thoroughly stuffed and happy! Thank you for a lovely lunch!

We chose to go here for a meet up with a friend that I hadn't seen for over 25 years. On arrival, the member of staff was friendly and we ordered drinks for our party of 5 adults, 2 children (and a baby asleep in a pram) plus tiny Yorkie. We were surprised that the only milk available was full fat - no semi or skimmed milk. The tea was luke warm, but we were happy sitting chatting and letting the children colour whilst we chatted. Then came the biggest surprise, we had to go through to the dining-room to eat lunch, BUT they would not accommodate the twin buggy with sleeping baby as 'it would inconvenience other guests' and they wouldn't put tables together to accommodate our larger group. (The bistro was not full as one waiter was happy to give us menus and accommodate our group until we said the little one was still asleep in the pram), did they expect us to leave the baby in a separate room???? We left and had the best lunch in the lovely Tay Hotel right next door to the Atholl Arms where the staff members were exceptionally friendly and accommodating, seated us around one large table and served us with a smile and great welcome. Moral of this story is: please don't dare go to the Atholl Arms with a double buggy, as a larger group or with sleeping children. 😞 Referring to the response - that's a great message to anyone who turns up at this hotel without booking - don't! You won't be accommodated unlike other hotels in Dunkeld (even when it wasn't busy, as was the case today), and the owner obviously has a 'chip on his shoulder' and offers a smart a#@e answer. One to avoid.

Lovely boutique hotel, extremely dog friendly, including a 'dog menu'. We happened to have an over excited, undisciplined dog near us, but during the night we heard nothing so it didn't bother us at all. So if you are nervous around dogs this may not be the hotel for you. However it is lovely there. Very nicely decorated, a nice balance between chic boutique and welcoming homelyness. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We ate in the restaurant so didn't get to try the bistro. My other half loved his food, mine seemed a bit 'pub grub'ish but was competently cooked. They have a lovely beer garden with a large gazebo for the variable Scottish weather, overlooking the bridge across the river. (Drinks seemed a little on the pricey side) They don't have a car park, but there is a public one that isn't too expensive. Our room was quite nice, a little small, but our bathroom was large and opulent. Although for such an enormous bathroom there was quite a small shower cubicle and what should have been an impressive shower, but I the the shower was bought for it's aesthetics not it's function, which was not so great. So we had a beautiful copper bath that was gorgeous but impractical and a tiny shower with a naff shower head. BUT... That is actually minor. The hotel was lovely, we sat in the lounge after dinner with a drink really enjoying the laid back atmosphere. We would definitely go back to that hotel so we can explore the town more.

Our first visit was back in April 2024 and we were greeted with a nice warm welcome from all members of staff, which continued throughout our short trip. Everyone was incredibly kind, friendly and helpful. Our room was magnificent, Room 10. The view over looks the River Tay and the garden terrace which was so peaceful, especially with a lovely bottle of champagne. Beautiful views in every direction - inside and out. Unfortunately, we did not dine with them on our first visit due to our plans but we made up for it when we returned in August 2024. A vast variety of choices from both the drinks and food menu, catering to all dietary preferences. Lovely presentation and very flavourful. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for not only its welcoming and cosy atmosphere but its unique design too. Also, the staff that go above and beyond to make your stay memorable. Very much looking forward to my next visit! Thank you.

I have stayed here twice and we absolutely love it! The rooms are incredible with unique decor in every one of them. The service from the staff is impeccable. The food is fantastic with a wide range to pick for and we have never had anything other than perfection while eating here. The beer garden is probably one of the best I. Scotland, right on the banks of the Tay with plenty of areas to sit and a large drinks selection. We look forward to returning again.

Absolutely loved our stay here. Our room was beautiful. Food was delicious. Prices were competitive & reasonable. Loved seeing the one or two 4 legged guests that were there also. So much so we are returning with our 4 legged friend in September for her first night away in a hotel & we cannot wait. If there was an award for the worst pub lunch in Britain, the Atholl Arms would be award winning. This was by far the worst food I've ever been served and considering the ridiculous price, you'd expect some of the best. We ordered the vegan nachos which were truly awful. The chef has clearly never eaten good nachos, let alone good vegan nachos (perhaps the sort you'd find in Austin, Texas). They haven't even bothered to google search a recipe for vegan nachos. What we were served did not resemble nachos – I put more effort into feeding my dog. There was a thin layer of cheese melted on top, a very small pot of cheap, shop bought salsa, and a small pot of an unknown thick vegan creamy product. (not sour cream). Once the thin layer of cheesy chips were gone, all that remained was a bowl of tortilla chips with nothing to dip – i.e basically the entire meal was a bowl of dry, value brand tortilla chips. There was no guacamole, no beans, no chillies, no coriander. At £13 you'd expect homemade salsa (or at least quality shop bought), homemade guacamole, and some beans (Perhaps refried pinto or black beans), a garnish of coriander etc. Include some fake meat or queso and you might even be saying they're really good. Hot sauce should be a condiment as standard. Additionally, we had a very disappointing burger – at £19 you'd expect a top quality burger with all the trimmings and a decent portion of chips with condiments on the side (or at least in bottles). The burger wasn't the worst I've eaten, but considering the price, it's overwhelmingly the worst. It was basically a wetherspoons burger with a gerkin for 3 times the price. Rubbish portion of chips too with condiments in single use plastic sachets. The prices of this place deserve an extra mention – I can say for a fact, that people will order more drinks if the food was priced more in line with similar low end restaurants. Even the drinks were too expensive to order (£5 coffee!) – we went elsewhere to wash down this awful food.

Our group stayed here for 3-nights, in town for a veteran's hike (2024 Cataran Yomp) this past weekend. We booked up several rooms. Overall everyone had a wonderful experience. Professional, prompt service, great accommodation, and very nice breakfast. The location can't be beat and the riverside bar & restaurant is such a nice touch - we lucked out with a sunny Sunday and we relaxed riverside for hours after the hike. Will definitely be back next year!

I last stayed here 10 years ago. In that time it has changed ownership and has had a bit of a make over, for better and for worse….On the plus side the rooms have been redecorated and the bathrooms redone. The food was always good and now it is excellent. The whiskey selection is out of this world. The new owners are very friendly and welcoming. There is a covered outdoor seating area between the parking lot and river that serves food, drinks, and has live music at the weekends. The down side is that it has lost a lot of its charm. They installed a massive TV over the fireplace that replays screenshots from their website. A picture on the wall and an actual fire in the fireplace would be a lot more welcoming. They have an even larger TV in the outdoor seating area that shows the same screenshots. By far the most annoying thing about this place is the intrusive background “music” that plays everywhere at every time of the day, even in the outdoor seating area. If you have to play music maybe play some Scottish fiddle music (it is Scotland after all) not the kind of stuff you hear in an elevator….Overall it’s a nice enough hotel, but a tad expensive, and it could be anywhere.

Highly recommended. It's not cheap to stay and/or dine here, but it's an experience you'll never forget. We stayed for 2 nights recently, and dined here both nights, as well as a lunch and quite a few drinks and cocktails. The staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Food is excellent, and drinks on offer are good also. Rooms are well equipped and all areas are spotlessly clean throughout. It also happens to be in one of the most picturesque areas of Scotland. Ideal for walking if that is your thing, as it is for us.
