Luigi's Restaurant in Highland

This is a cute restaurant right in the town center area. We went here for lunch and ordered a couple of their specials. The service was quick and the food was very good. This place was recommended by our hotel and I would go here again.

The restaurant was fully booked when we went in, however the owner did offer us a table out on the street, the weather was excellent so we agreed to eat outside. Food was superb, and I also have to say the wine list and selected choices we took to accompany the food were tremendous. The waitress was extremely polite and took the time to chat and discuss the local area and food. Would definitely recommend and will definitely revisit this restaurant with a booking in advance.

We asked 5 people where we should eat in Dornoch and all said Luigi which no doubt explained why they were fully booked for 3 nights. Luckily we got a cancellation and could see what the fuzz was about. Admittedly being the best restaurant in Dornoch is like being the tallest midget but this place would thrive anywhere. Duck salad with cashews, local crab, beef carpaccio that was still mooing washed down with a nice red from a not overly expensive wine list. I doubt the size of my ribeye would have impressed American diners who usually have it hanging off the side of their plates, but it was great, and the linguini with scallops was a gastronomic delight. If you are wondering why there is no sticky toffee pudding left in Scotland it is because my mate Nick has eaten it all..so grab that if they still have it.

We booked Luigi’s months ago as we read it was popular. Great atmosphere and menu with excellent service. Mussels and Halibut were superb.

Luigi's was not what I expected. My son was keen for pizza. There was no pizza, but we were in for such a treat! The food was exquisite, the staff were welcoming,helpful and friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed. I'm so glad we found this place. Absolutely faultless

Couldn’t get a table for a special occasion but Amy phoned back the next day to fit us in unfortunately I had already booked somewhere else but made a booking for a different night. Loved it so much we made a booking for the next night! The service was good, the staff all pleasant and the food superb. Orkney crab, Shetland mussels, linguine with scallops prawns and chorizo and lobster so fresh and wonderfully cooked. My mouth is watering writing this review!!

Luigi’s is by far our number 1 dining spot in Dornoch. Relaxed, friendly understated atmosphere. Food choices all Scottish and varied. Quality over the top! And a quality selection of enjoyable reasonable wines chosen by the owner on trips to Italy, Spain, etc. I have always enjoyed our evenings here, just my husband and I … or with other couples. You definitely need to book ahead, especially weekends. We are in Dornoch about a month a year, so look forward to our Luigi’s dinners! Lively atmosphere, brisk service, wide range of choices. Overseen by the owner this is clearly a popular restaurant with locals, with whom he interacts, to ensure everything is to their satisafction.

Excellent team running this place. The food is excellent and so well cooked. It was a bit quick for me (all over in less than an hour) but I can’t fault the service or the quality of the food so I’d recommend if it you have the budget.

Wonderful experience from the moment we walked in the door! Attentive wait staff, with decor that had a sea flair and amazing food from the cheddar soufflé to the mussels my husband enjoyed and his lobster tail the meal did not disappoint. If visiting Dornoch, highly recommend Luigi!

We went here for dinner and all the food looked fantastic. We had hot smoked salmon terrine followed by crispy duck salad and orcchietti with tuscan fennel sausage. All dishes were very interesting and beautifully balanced in flavours. It was a real treat. We also recommend the Thistly Cross Scottish cider. Highly recommended, and you probably need to book.

We were a little apprehensive as the “ sample” menu outside didn’t seem to offer a lot of choice if you didn’t eat shellfish but we needn’t have worried. We all had plenty of choice and each of us had a delicious meal. The cheese soufflé was superb and even better we didn’t have a long wait! Duck salad, scallops, cod, linguini and Orrecchieto all pronounced gorgeous! Not cheap but nowhere is nowadays and the portions were generous.

Amazing!! Had the fresh mussels with cream wine and garlic, the crispy duck salad and crumble cake for dessert. Service was friendly, helpful and engaging. Some of the best food I have had and have travelled quite a bit. If you in Dornoch, I would highly recommend going here. Delicious.

Excellent lunch and coffee restaurant. We visited as a group of 6 and all enjoyed a delicious lunch. Lots of great choices. My duck salad was outstanding. Friends loved their salmon risotto and crab cakes. Relaxed environment with very friendly service.

Not as good as previous visits, Crispy Fishcakes were mainly mashed potato, asked to share a dessert but it came with only one set of cutlery & was just plonked on the table. Very expensive for lunch given what you get& the poor service, staff arguing at the counter as another tables order had not been sent to the kitchen, we are local & won’t be going there again.

The prices were greatly increased from those on the website so it was very expensive. About £50 per person. My food wasn't well cooked as I'd asked so I had to send it back.

Phoned in on the off chance of a table and managed to get one courtesy of a cancellation. Warm welcome, friendly and efficient staff, offered a choice of two tables. Despite restaurant quickly becoming full service was brisk but unhurried. Great menu. Superb food.

Lovely restaurant in Dornoch. Excellent food and service. The evening menu had great choices and nothing disappointed. The main courses were exceptional and the plum and almond desert was stunning.

We ate here 2 of the 4 nights in Dornoch. The menu is great and food is amazing. Chis is wonderful with all of his guest and spends time visiting the tables to make you feel like you are having dinner at his home. Hands down best meal we have had in Scotland to date. Food was superb as well as the service. Very attentive but not overly in your face. Food was fresh and well prepared. Mussels as an appetizer was very taste and well done with the garlic cream sauce not overpowering. Chicken Risotto was tender and delicious. Desert of course was sticky toffee pudding ( we are in Scotland) was very tasty. Wish we found it earlier- would have sampled their entire menu….

This is not our first visit to Luigi and certainly won't be our last. Chris and the front of house staff are all wonderfully attentive and welcoming without being intrusive or overbearing. But the real star of the show is the excellent food. For once I resisted the enticing crispy duck and watermelon salad and went with a beautifully fresh and zingy crab starter followed by rigatoni with sumptuously slow-cooked beef cheeks. Both were delicious. All four of our party had something different and none of us was disappointed. If I have one complaint it's that I wasn't fit to take on a dessert. I cannot recommend Luigi in Dornoch highly enough. Surely the best food in the Highlands.

Staying local for the evening so decided to go for a stroll to stretch our legs after a day of travelling. My wife had read the reviews online and suggested it would be a good option.....Well truely impressed. Service - fab. Food - awesome👍 I had the Scallop, Prawn and Chorizo linguine whilst my wife had the Salmon risotto, both were truely top notch. Great wine selection as well.

Luckily we’d book well in advance for a party of six on a Saturday night. Full with visitors and locals enjoying superb food in a welcoming atmosphere. Well worth a visit.

Last minute booking so were offered outside table. Weather was good so we went for it and we had a great meal, way surpassing our expectations. We stayed with seafood and fish for both courses and everything was excellent. as a result we could not overlook a desert course and had a first rate creme brulee and bitter chocolate tart. excellent food, wine and service.
