Cafe Sono in Glasgow City

The lady working was lovely but the breakfast was awful; cheap sausage, no haggis or black pudding, one mushroom, toast had been waved in the direction of a toaster and not particularly cheap. I love a good greasy spoon cafe but this isnt one. And there were chips on it which I've never had as a breakfast item.

Popped in for dinner and was not disappointed, lovely friendly service and delicious food. Absolutely stuffed when we left.

Our first visit to cafesono today 23rd October 24. I had donner kebab platter with salad and chips. It was my first donner kebab platter. It was nice abit too much meats for my liking. My friend had pot of tea only. Otis's sister served out. Lovely clean and bright cafe.

Lovely place, delicious breakfast. Just come in and eat.

We just had a very tasty meal in an unusual atmosphere, a mixed grill plate was enough for both of us. It was decorated decoratively. The service was impeccable and the price-performance ratio was good. An absolutely recommended location.

I always totally LOVED Cafe Sono, until my last visit where I was shunted into the shop next door that Cafe Sono has taken over. It lacks any sort of character conpared to the original cafe. It has about as much imagination as caravan site. If that's IT, I will never go back. It has about as much soul are the junkie infested McD;'s along the road.

Haven’t tried their mains / dinners but had the breakfast. Friendly staff and affordable prices. Nothing amazing but it’s decent for the price paid. Conveniently located outside of Glasgow Central station too, believe the standard breakfast was around £8

I have been here a good few times before- great food! And normally amazing staff! But today I went and was “welcomed” by the most ill mannered woman her attitude was absolutely disgusting and the way she spoke to customers was disgraceful. I mentioned I did not like her attitude towards me and she proceeded to tell us to leave. We did. And will NEVER return here again. Management did not deal with this well as we walked past again and they were talking about myself! How “professional” of a company? Today was my first day off from being a nurse and I thought I’d take my family to my favourite spot in Glasgow and was treated like rubbish. Keep this in mind- if u plan to visit here! NO ONE deserves to be spoken to like that!

This is one of Glasgows hidden gems. Food was absolutely delicious and staff very welcoming. Will be back next time I’m in Glasgow

Round the corner from Motel One, and opposite Glasgow Central. Perfect for breakfast, lunch and the late night munchies! Great service. The kebab meat is to die for! And the flat bread! And all at the most remarkable price.

Love the vibe of the small shop. You can sit up stairs at the back and take in the eclectic (Steampunk?) decor. Reubens Grilled Sandwich is good and the bacon and egg rolls are perfect. They now have a larger seating area next door! Had the Grilled Breakfast for £7. Had all the necessary items and would rather give them my money than Weather spoons. The large latte was nice and strong too. 👍❤️😎

Had a really great doner wrap here and the people working were very nice and pleasant to talk to. Highly recommend! We did takeaway so can't speak to the table service.

Friendly staff. However! When we ordered two mixed platters (consisting of doner, chicken and salad) - we were told it came with chips. Suffice to say after we'd paid, and on querying where the chips were - we were told "chips are extra". Also one of us asked whether we could have garlic sauce (as opposed to chilli). The server said "yes". When we got back to the hotel, there was one chilli wrap and the other was plain without garlic sauce. It was, however, tasty BUT a lot of grease dripping out the bottom of the wraps. Will not return.

Went in for lunch and the waitress took our order then came back to say basically none of it was available as most staff are on holiday

Cafe Sono is my favourite Glasgow eaterie. Today, 11th July, I popped in for a mixed kebab, beef & chicken, and an Americano. They have taken over the shop next door as a restaurant area in addition to their normal shop that did takeaways and had limited seating. I really enjoyed the food and the coffee but struggled to finish the kebab. Their Americano is the best in town IMO. If you are visiting for the first time with a friend, could I suggest you share a kabab and buy two coffees. Once you do that, I'm sure you'll be back for more!

Got chips cheese and donner, cost £10. With it being £4 for chips and cheese, I cant fathom the difference. Food good though

This was our favourite breakfast spot anytime we were in Glasgow and after a bit of a night before I was looking forward to breakfast, starving wasn't the word. We were greeted by a few familiar faces who were quite happy to usher us into the new sitting area. It's nice, don't get me wrong but it's more generic than the cute, niche atmosphere in the original cafe. The waitress seemed to have difficulties understanding us and a few other customers when it came to ordering. We waited over 20 min just for coffees and at this point there was only 3 other tables of two in. We had both ordered the grilled breakfast and when it did arrive it was so over cooked it was hardly edible. The lorne was burnt and more like a breakpad than breakfast sausage. The chips over cooked and solid, the tomato was just mush along with the solitary mushroom. The egg was solid and the bacon burnt beyond crispy. When asking for orange juice, you're now given a bottle of kids fruit shoot. We did manage the sausage. The cutlery has been changed too, the forks are now square edged and blunt and the food just falls off, making trying to eat what is edible a task. We tried to get the waitresses attention but another table had had their order messed up three times and was trying to pay their bill to leave. The waitress then began huffing and puffing that they wanted to pay by card as it was an effort to get the card machine. The young guy came through and could see our plates and faces but made every effort to avoid eye contact with anyone as even he seemed to be getting it in the neck from the older cooks. We still paid full price for the plates although they were left full. Hopefully it's teething issues with the new sit in bit but I don't think we'll be back as it's expensive way to go when there only one thing edible on the plate. Really disappointing but I do hope the quality comes back as the smaller cafe was excellent.

Worst restaurant in Glasgow. Bad food, bad service, the employees are angry. The food in the menu not same as it was in plate. Finally, there is no carbonation in the soda.

Tiny shop with great ambience and good food. In the tunnel under the train station there are rotisserie dishes / kebabs. Price performance is excellent. The service too. However, there are only 3 tables. The facility is worth seeing. Recommendation!

Had dinner tonight and all I can say is wow. They prepare their kebab meat fresh every day. Layers of lamb and layers of chicken. Superb salad and the best chips that I have eaten since being in the UK.

Fabulous restaurant! Had the mixed shawarma platter for late breakfast and will be satisfied all day. Friendly service, generous portions, reasonable prices, and delicious food… a winning combination!

Way overpriced for possibly the worst doner meat. You are better going to Lazord around the corner next to Mataln retail store. Much better quality, competitive prices and friendly staff but they take cash only or bank transfers (no card machine)

A brilliant little cafe just under glasgow central, excellent kebabs at a reasonable price, take-away service is extremely quick making it the perfect little spot to get something to eat before your train.

Located underneath the Glasgow Central rail bridge, this was a small café oozing character which to be honest, I’d known nothing about until my workmate informed me of the decent Breakfast boxes on offer. The cost of the Breakfast was £7.00 (not too expensive for the Merchant City). It was divided between two boxes (we were taking it away) and pretty much all done on the grill plate, cooked to order as we waited. Positives - the Bacon was cooked well, the Toast was grilled, bonus additions of a Tattie Scone and Chips (again, cooked brilliantly), tasty Squared Sausage and obviously, the value for money in terms of business location and quantity of food. Negatives - a real lack of Mushrooms given (I genuinely had one small one in my box) and, unfortunately a real dampener for me in any Breakfast, sub-standard Link Sausage. Overall however, a valiant 4/5 rating. The staff were friendly enough and the food was enjoyed back at the office. Just a couple of setbacks that couldn’t let me give the full 5/5.

Went here last night with my husband, the cafe looked lovely the staff are awesome. We got a chicken kebab wrap with salad and it were honestly the nicest we have ever had! Only down side to this place is that it is in Glasgow and we live in Middleton! We will definitely be going back next time we are in Glasgow for a visit! Give it a try... you will not be disappointed.

What a lovely gem this place is, I was in Glasgow treating my mum for mother's day and saw this place had gleaming reviews and wonderful photos, Small place just at the underpass but wow, what a lovely atmosphere and amazing service, the food is phenomenal! Easily some of the best I've ever had!

Lovely fry-up, big portion at a reasonable price, great service, nice coffee. Really nice, busy little cafe and takeaway. Kebabs looked good too but didn’t try one.

Chicken wrap was amazing. Very tasty and filling but I would have been greedy and bought two had I known how delicious they were.

I’m glad I went there. The owners were welcoming so were the regular customers. The regulars told me I made the right choice and I will come back. They were absolutely right. The chicken kebab tasted delicious. I had cheesy chips with it as well. I just wanted to treat myself with food properly cooked food. For £10 I just couldn’t go wrong. I just wanted proper food down my aching body. I didn’t feel too good in the morning but this place along with a few others really cheered me up. Thank you Cafe Sono for the brilliant service you’ve given me. When I return to Glasgow I know where to go for my evening meal! 👊🏽🩵

Such a quiet little spot, I’d passed it multiple times curious and stopped by today, well worth it! I had the Chorizo sandwich and it was DELICIOUS. The staff was lovely, jovial, and doting. Seriously, do yourself a favour and stop by.

Loved the Vintage Turkish vibe of this place❤️ this cafe is cool i felt like i was in Istanbul 🫠 was feeling low in the end 9f the day but this place changed my whole mood Turkish food+Turkish music+Rain= Aalaa Will definitely visit again Insha'Allah.

Nice kebab, interesting decoration and very friendly owner in the cafe, this is a gem for hot quick food.

Where to start. Quirky look with old styled individual decor. From the sprinkler system pipework lighting to the suitcase wall coverings. Service was fantastic and the food was amazing, cooked right in front of you was all fresh and very tasty.

Like a fellow customer who has written a review, the young guy is fly with the card machine, I do agree I should have checked, can of juice and kebab wrap charged £13. Will not return. Menu has £5 for kebab and £1 for can of juice. Just be careful could be doing this to another of folks.

This a beautiful cozy little place! Staff are lovely and food is super tasty as well as their hot drinks! My only complaint would be that a lot of the menu options are no longer available, which made it difficult for a person like myself who's fussy.

Best breakfast in Glasgow city centre. It’s situated under Glasgow Central train station so you here the rumbles of the trains but to me that added to the good experience.

Google will dich in den Bahnhof führen, Café Sono findet sich aber tatsächlich in der Unterführung. Sehr eigenwillig eingerichtet mit diversem Kram, versprüht der Raum doch einen besonderen Charm. Zumal, wenn man von der Empore den Köchen bei der Arbeit zusehen kann. Wir hatte zwei Wraps, eine Pie und Chicken Wings. Alles frisch zubereitet mit besten Zutaten und wirklich lecker. Empfehlung von mir!

Found this online and had a great traditional Scottish breakfast. I hear it's a classic place enjoyed by locals.

A small and cozy cafe serves delicious food. It's tugged within a row of small shops and cafes, all right below the train platform of Glasgow Central Station. Rumbling sound from passing trains, quirky decor, and warmly lit interior make this cafe stand out in an otherwise darkened area because of the overhead platform. Besides great food and a cozy ambiance, Cafe's highlight, for me, is the super friendly and welcoming owners. "Uncle" proudly showed me the backroom kitchen where he prepares the massive shawarma early in the morning, everyday. Highly recommend.

This is a fabulous spot for breakfast (or probably any meal)!!! We were staying at a hotel around the corner (which I do NOT recommend, especially for breakfast!). The reviews seemed good for this place. It is under the bridge of Central Station, so the trains create a bit of noise. We didn't mind it. The food is hearty and prepared well. Good cappuccino and a proper full Scottish/English breakfast ("grilled breakfast"). The owner or employee serving us was friendly and so helpful with bus information! I get the sense that she is a sweetheart! Here I am in the photo with her. I would eat here for a hearty unpretentious meal anytime!

Had just finished playing my first gig with my band and was STARVING, we walked around and found this place and the atmosphere and smell immediately caught our eyes, the flavour of these wraps was unparalleled it just melts in your mouth and you just feel amazing, best wrap I have ever had. If you ever read this go and eat and support this business I beg.

Overpriced kebab, poor quality bread, tiny amount of meat. Over priced drinks, not even cold. Would never go back
