What a bummer. Having done tons of research trying to find some vegan options for my trip, we’d been looking forward to breakfast at Glasvegan for months. I double checked the hours and both Facebook and Google stated they opened at 9am, Google even said the hours were confirmed by phone a few weeks prior. When we showed up, the place was closed & dark - no sign on the door, no post on their social media (and no website). Another traveller showed up around the same time and was also disappointed to see the dark restaurant. After looking into some news articles, it sounds like their inconsistent opening times was a blessing in disguise. Head chef up and quit, employee complains against owners, treatment and working conditions, and steadily declining food reviews. Good riddance I guess. They haven’t even responded to my inquires on their social media sites.

Great wee place in St Enochs square a little cramped for seating inside. Shared two gluten free sandwiches on the menu out of potentially three gf options. Before ordering they warned us that because of the small kitchen that cross contamination was likely. Had the coronation chickpea sandwich and open pesto sandwich both really nice and filling. From what I understand all the items were home made even the pesto which was lovely. When busy you may need to wait a little longer for your orders to come out. We waited maybe 30mins because of the high demand of orders but was kindly gifted free soft drinks on the house.

We were visiting from Australian and both being vegan looking for a good spot for some plant-based food when we found this place. There was a bit of a wait on the food as I think they may have been understaffed the day we went, but once the food arrived it did not disappoint. We both ordered wraps which were substantial and delicious, we did not leave hungry. The staff were also very attentive and apologetic for the delay, offering us a hot drink on the house while we waited, and even taking our first drinks off the bill at the end.

Came here on a sunday for brunch and had a really tasty full scottish breakfast. I especially liked the vegan haggis. The staff were very friendly and accommodating of my friend who can't eat gluten. We arrived at about 11:30 and it wasn't too busy, we managed to get a table for 4 without reserving. The only downside of this place is that they don't have a toilet, you have to use one in the shopping centre across the street.

Nice place. Staff really nice and good atmosphere. Used to come here often and make a point to visit when in glasgow because the breakfasts were amazing, however food quality seems to have gone downhill somewhat. Scottish breakfast missing haggis, black pudding and square sausage. Scrambled tofu and sausages were off the shelf from tesco. (Tofu co scrambled and richmond i think). Unfortunately half of the breakfast menu was unavailable (no sweet or savoury crepes, no smoothies). The only items available were the full breakfast (missing two items that were unavailable, no substitutions offered) or a roll with any of the available items or burrito with breakfast items. Honestly not the best. Nice that it’s fully vegan, but the food is plain lazy and basic. Most vegan breakfasts from non-vegan places are better, and I can definitely cook better myself. Spotted staff coming back from Tesco with the veggie haggis, which illustrates the issue. Wholesale is often cheaper than retail so you could offer better vfm too. Didn’t have square sausage or black pudding, yet didn’t offer to substitute in bacon or any other element of the breakfast instead, so I paid full price for 2 of the elements to be missing. Disappointing place to bring non-vegans, hope you can get more creative in the kitchen. If you’re going to be lazy about it, at least have all the ingredients in, and make it the best meal you could possibly make.

We waited 1 hour before someone came to get our order (some staff was too busy smoking outside the entrance), we waited a further hour before our food came and it was nothing special: raw carrots on a bagel (how did it take so long to make?!), the salad that came with was a basic salad from Tesco (we saw someone from the staff heading to Tesco opposite and came back with a bag of salad). Smoothies and Milkshakes were on the menu, but none of them were available. Don’t go.

Previously gave this full 5 stars, but sadly after two new owners it's really struggling - the food is still really nice, but a very limited menu now - I've been three times since it's changed hands and had to wait and average of 45mins + for a lunch order, a wrap with crisps the soup is never ready for lunch period, It's a shame, it really had a great reputation, but has struggled with the transition to a new team. The staff are very friendly and have kindly comped our drinks a couple of times to apologies for the wait - but I don't see us coming back in a rush. Coffee is still great btw, I hope things sort themselves out.

I hate to put a negative review for this cafe as I want people to eat vegan food. The ambience is lovely but the food is bad. My daughter had a burger which was grey, tasteless and horrible texture. Accompanied by half a plate of tortilla chips. I had the gangsta granny haggis sandwich on sourdough bread. The sourdough had nothing resembling sourdough bread - just white bread. the haggis was flavourless despite caramelised onions and apple. Again another half plate of tortilla chips and a sad salad. The food tasted like the most cheap products they could get . No flavour. If you want great vegan food and are anywhere in Perth -Rascals, George street is brilliant !!!

The Glasvegan is a must visit for all veggies & vegans. Other than the perfect name, the food is always really satisfying. Although it has changed hands, the new owners are carrying on its legacy. Sadly for me, it was overpriced and as a vegan (painful to say as I want to support local businesses) I should just have gone to Greggs here food is at least hot and you can sit and eat it indoors, plenty of venues to do this in the city centre.

This was my third visit to Glasvegan and we specifically went today because of previous visits knowing how good the food was. I have many and varied allergies and it’s great when I find a place that can cater to all of these. Today, the poor guy was run off his feet through staff absences so we did have to wait a fair while for our food. However, despite that wait the food was delicious as ever. Also the coffee was really, really nice! The last time I was here I was actually looking for porridge for breakfast which they didn’t do so I didn’t actually stay. However, once I’d left, the guy I’d spoken to came running out to tell me he’d remembered another vegan place that would probably do porridge for me. How helpful was that? Only in Glasgow would someone be that helpful! So, all in all I’d recommend this place to anyone. I’ll be back the next time I get to visit Glasgow!

I don't normally give negative reviews - but I went for lunch with high hopes for this place. This is what I sent them after a terrible meal. My response from them...absolutely nothing - clearly don't care about customers "I rarely complain about food but felt I really should draw attention to the shocking meal I had today. I had heard a lot about Glasvegan and have visited most other vegan places in Glasgow so was glad to have a chance to grab lunch there today. I initially ordered a hot dog only to be told some time afterwards that there was no hotdogs (place was very quiet so not clear why it took so long). I then ordered a burger with a "chicken patty". What I got was a cheap stale roll with six chicken nuggets inside, some pickle and three pieces of pineapple. It broke up when I tried to lift it as it was so dry - there was certainly no award winning food on offer today. When I asked where the toilets were was told by the waitress - anxious to get back to talking to her pal - "over there in the shopping centre". No specific directions - which was surprising for a cafe with no loos. When she wiped my table she wiped around a dirty tissue which she left on the table. Honestly the whole experience was decidedly underwhelming. If I'd been served that meal as a MacDonalds Happy Meal I would have been disappointed but at £13 a burger its fair to expect both the service and the food to be a bit better. Not sure if this was just an off day - but I guess I'll never know as I certainly won't be back

Staff were friendly and nice. Food was a mushy, messy disgrace. Flavourless wet chicken burger, gloopy disgusting cheese (cold cheese sauce) sandwich. Hate to leave a negative review but this really sucked.

The manager and the especially the chef are really nice people. Which made the food even better. Delicious!

The matcha bubble waffle and the mango bing su were so delicious. The cafe itself is nice and clean and they have a good amount of tables. I would love to try out the other flavours next time I visit.

We're always greeted by a warm, friendly atmosphere and the lovely staff, who will go above and beyond. Great menu and stocked bar, the Smiddy is a well loved Southside pub. Highly recommend for a few drinks or a nice relaxed meal.
