Tobermory Bakery in Argyll & Bute

We came to Tobermory on a very wet day on an organised tour. We were looking for somewhere to get a hot drink. Everywhere was full due to the weather. After a walk around we noticed a table was now vacant and my husband sat down. I went to the counter to order a cappuccino and a hot chocolate where it was chaotic. No hello or greeting just told how much they wanted from me. My hot chocolate was very lumpy with powdery bits all at the bottom of the cup. I paid cash and was given no receipt. Dreary interior. Left feeling like a nuisance and when saying goodbye no response. My husband and I got the same treatment from other places in Tobermory and other people we were with said this place doesn’t like tourists. Well fair enough we will never ever visit again. Good luck just serve the locals and don’t dare be polite as looking at reviews you get a robust response.

What a lovely bakery. We popped in before lunchtime and there was an extensive array of tasty looking pies, baguettes, cakes and filled bagels. It was busy but we were able to eat in and had the venison pie which was very tasty. Nice tea and coffee. Polite staff, thank you for the great service on our first visit to Tobermory.

Am a regular visitor to Tobermory over many years. Popped in here at about 3 pm Tuesday, ie after lunch time, having visited for food with friends a few weeks before and found the food and ambience good, What a contrast. It was not busy. I waited with another family for 10 minutes at the counter to give my order ( as instructed by a sign) while 5 or so staff ignored us. Eventually the older staff member who appeared to be in charge grumpily asked if I had ordered. I said no and started to give her my request for a coffee and cake. She interrupted me brusquely and told me to queue a metre to my left where a pleasant young man would take my order. He mistakenly provided me with coffee in a take away.I pointed out that I did not want a takeaway and perhaps he should have asked that question first. I was then accosted by the grumpy senior who invited me to stop complaining or leave. I left.

The Scottish Breakfast is top notch. Really good quality Lorne, Haggis, Bacon and Black Pudding. We wnet to fuel up before a Distillery Tour! The lunch sandwiches are good too but go early, they sell out and tables fill up quick. It's only a small place. The staff are lovely. Thank You!

Delicious food and coffee. Breakfast was beautiful. Nicest black pudding. Gets busy. Eat in or take out. Great selection of cakes, pies, sandwiches, bagels etc.

Cakes were absolutely amazing, coffee was a tad weak for me personally. I could have easily have ordered all the pies/quiche/cakes/toasties in there! Shame they shut at 16.00 else we would have stayed a little longer.

A must visit when in tobermory! The food (especially cakes) are.lovely! We stopped off for brunch. Hubby had a breakfast, and I had a toasty, both lovely. I would suggest avoiding lunchtime ( 12-2pm) as queing out the door. They also have a very limited seating area, so may have to wait for a table if wanting to eat in.

Came over to Mull for the day. Weather was filthy. Had brekkie here at the bakery - bagel/egg/avocado for one. Scottish brekkie for the other. Very tasty. Quick service. Friendly staff. Lovely hot chocolate and mocha. Reasonable price. Clean and tidy. Returned at the end of the day for another hot drink before catching ferry back home. Rolls and bread also very enjoyable. Would recommend.

Visited twice whilst in Mull. For coffee & cake. Tasty cappuccino with wide selection of scrumptious cake & friendly service recommended

A Day Visit to Tobermory and this place stood out and how glad we went there for lunch. Probably the best infividual steak pie I have ever ate accompanied by mash potato. Enough space left for a home made cake. 8 tables, so you may struggle to get a table. Go you won’t be disappointed. Oh and service great!

Only in Tob for a quick visit from Iona, Happily found this place for a bite to eat. The homemade steak & gravy pie was delicious, worth the 3am start for the owner as we found out. Partner loved the toasted baguette. Lovely coffee also, and what an array of cakes and tray bakes. Boy oh boy do they give a large portion, huge bit of brownie and caramel shortcake hit the spot. Well worth the drive from Iona but if you’re on Mull definitely worth a visit. Staff were lovely and knew all about what they had on offer. Catering for all dietary needs, spotted Gluten Free and Vegan options available that day. Definitely will be back.

Absolutely loved this place! We were on the Isle of Mull for two nights and visited this bakery twice - once for a snack, and once for breakfast. The selection of both sweet and savoury is amazing, it’s so hard to pick just one thing. Service was quick and friendly. Would highly highly recommended visiting.

Liked the look of the Tobermory Bakery and as it was a cold day decided to pop in for a hot lunch. All the tables were occupied but we didn't mind waiting. Unfortunately we waited and waited. We could see that a couple of women were sitting at a table with just cups of tea or coffee and sat chatting to another woman at the next table who seemed to be just there for a chat as she didn't have any food or drinks on her table. We assumed that as they were all finished eating or drinking that the tables would be available soon. How wrong we were. They looked at us knowing full well that we and others were waiting for a table but they just carried on chatting. Eventually the woman on her own left the table for four that she had occupied on her own and we sat down and ordered our food. Service was not the best and the soup was only lukewarm. I asked if it could be heated and it was taken from me without a word. The roll that accompanied the soup was quite tasty but was served without butter. We vacated our table as soon as we finished as we knew others were waiting for a table and it was only good manners not to keep them waiting any longer than necessary. We went to the till to pay for our order. There was no proper queuing system at the till and people who had come in for takeaways were being served while we were being ignored. Not a smile or a thank you from the girl taking our payment. Terrible service. It's as if they don't want visitors and only have time for local customers. What happened to Scottish hospitality? We won't be returning to this bakery / cafe on our next visit to Tobermory.

Personalmente abbiamo provato la steak pie e la Lamb and potato, assolutamente squisite e con carne di buona qualità. Variante vegetariana consigliata la cheese and onion pie, molto buona anche in questa versione

Just the thing for breakfast with a mug of decent coffee, served by smiling staff. They had a fantastic range of cakes, pies and pasties, too.

My son claims the Nutella filled 3 day doughnut may be the best doughnut he’s ever eaten! We also had jacket potatoes and bagels in our party which were tasty and fresh.

Great choice of breads, cakes, pies and sweet treats. We stopped by for lunch and were lucky to get a table as there are only three or four inside. It was deservedly busy and lots of people were doing takeaway as a result. We ordered a baked potato with haggis, black pudding and cheese which also came with salad and coleslaw and this was given thumbs - generous portion, tasty and filling. We also ordered a three cheese macaroni pie which was also very good and filling though it didn't come with any sides which would have been welcome. For 'afters' we have a light and fluffy lemon drizzle muffin - yum! - and a slice of cookies and cream cheesecake - double yum!! We also had coffee which was average but fine. Despite sitting in, everything was served in takeaway cups, plates, wooden cutlery, etc. which wasn't great but it may be that they don't have the facilities on site to wash crockery/cutlery etc. As a vegetarian it'd be nice to have an egg mayo option for the baguette, baked potatoes and so on, but this is a small suggestion! We'd definitely recommend the Tobermory Bakery for a bite to eat!

We ordered the custard and rhubarb donut and two carrot cake muffins. Simply perfection.As a baker and a liver of small bakeries I recommend frequent visits.

This place is heaven for anyone who like cake, pastry, bread, coffee… basically all the good stuff. The fresh bread and doughnuts are incredibly good and the prices are very reasonable. We were in Tobermory for 7 days and visited the Bakery almost every day!

This is not a sit down breakfast with plates cafe - but a take way or order at counter and enjoy at one of their tables. Friendly and helpful staff, fantastic light and airy croissants, and perfectly balanced bacon and egg roll! Good strong coffee rounded off a great start to our day!

Während unseres Besuchs in Tobermory (übrigens ein Bilderbuchort), hatten wir dort gefrühstückt. Leckere Kaffees, leckeres Gebäck und einiges mehr. Empfehlenswert.

This is a truly wonderful local bakery. Good Scotch pies, fabulous cakes and pastries. Not cheap, but the quality is excellent so great value for money. My only complaint is that the shop closes on Sundays so we had to go without that day. We didn't eat in but you can. The first time we went we had to queue for a fair time, but that's just because the food is so good. Go first thing in the morning just after it opens to avoid queuing.

If you want an amazing doughnut, this is the place, love it. Lots of selection of filled rolls, pastry and bread and so much more, highly recommend

Tried a cake from the bakery, and wasn’t expecting much because it was cheap. However,to my surprise it was delicious and even had a second slice. I’m not sure what the other cakes were like, but they looked well presented.

A lovely loaf and a nice smile - it’s all you could want from a bakery. They sell other nice stuff too. Everyone in the shop looked happy.

We enjoyed a couple of trips here for takeaway cakes. There is a cafe to sit in but we didn't use this on this trip. The first visit we had a selection of brownies and traybakes, which were really tasty. On our return we tried the doughnuts, which were lovely and fresh but the jam and custard ones needed more filling.

Unfortunately average at best. Very limited selection. Especially of pastries. They are more set up for savory breakfast. We tried two of the quiches which were good. The coffees were average. Nothing special.

We stopped in Tobermory during a sailing trip and picked up supplies . The scotch pies from Tobermory bakery are outstanding - not to be missed !

Before heading of with the ferry me and my father had breakfast at this place. I would definitely recommend the breakfast roll. Overall: friendly people, great coffee and food!

Where to start !! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was lovely, an amazing spread of cakes, bagels, bread and other produce for sale. The 2 girls serving were beautiful, mannerly and friendly. And very efficient. Be there early as the food was flying off...

We enjoyed the freshly baked savoury and sweet delights. A great selection of vegan and vegetarian pastries, cakes, bagels (filled), sandwiches, pies, quiches and good quality coffee. My husband enjoyed the breakfast bap and I really liked the goat’s cheese bagel.

Popped in here to grab a some takeaway lunch before walking to the lighthouse. Amazing selection of both savoury and sweet. All the cakes and pastries looked awesome was so hard to decide!? Also had fresh bread and hot drinks to purchase. Would highly recommend....

Visited for some take awake cakes, they were good however the service wasn’t the best , in keeping with the majority of shops we visited in Tobermory it seemed like they didn’t want tourists or visitors

Visited the Bakery just as it opened at 10am. The lady who served us was lovely (not sure her name but was on 11th August), she said that they are only doing takeaways due to government regulations. We had the quiche which was delicious and some cakes too! They also had oat milk for takeaway drinks!

The Tobermory Bakery tearoom is now operating an excellent service. The staff are well trained, the cakes are delicious and the other food is second to none. The view is lovely over the bay and you will be taken care of friendly staff.

Ich war mit Freunden auf Isle of Mull zu einem Besuch in der Tobermory Distillery... zufällig haben wir das Cafe entdeckt...Super leckeren Kaffee, selbstgemachte Suppen, Quiches, Sandwiches.... rundum der Hammer .... Wer Tobermory besucht sollte hier nicht nur. Dran vorbei laufen... auch viele Einheimische sind an zu treffen!

Bit peckish wandering round Tobermory in the rain, so popped in to see if I could grab something. I was delighted to see they do vegan sausage rolls. I munched on it merrily as I carried on to the end of the pier. On my way back I had to have another one they were so delicious! If you love sausage rolls (and let’s face it, who doesn’t) you must try one!

My first stop on the Isle of Mull was to the Tobermory Bakery .. An absolute gem of a place with lovely friendly and helpful staff . I had .... What I can only say as the most beautiful ,delicious warm goats cheese salad with a beetroot and toasted pumpkin seed Ever !! . Every mouthful was an absolute pleasure as well as being the best version of this I have EVER eaten !! . As someone who loves food but has diet restrictions I was so pleased to see there was plenty of choice for me to have a really lovely homemade healthy lunch .. An absolute must for any traveller to the island wanting delicious bakery products as well as exceptionally good home made food x I would give more than 5 stars If this was possible ... sooooo delicious I’m still thinking about it and am going to attempt to make it myself tonight as I am craving for it now I am back home x

A busy wee place with takeaway and sit in, worth waiting for a seat. Friendly staff. Great choice of breads and cakes. The full breakfast hit the spot. 👍🏼 They have an interesting child management policy too.

I pop in every couple of weeks when I'm over with work. They always have a few vegan options. The humous is home made and absolutely lovely. The coffee is very nice. The vegan sausage roll is good to have as an option for when you need something quick to eat on the go but wouldn't be my go to (doesn't really taste of anything). Staff are very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. Such a nice find when you're away want somewhere warm with an affordable tasty lunch.

A cold breezy day so we took shelter for a spot of lunch in the bakery.Toasted sandwiches and a very good cuppa coffee/tea. Can't say anything bad about it. Plenty on the plate and a cappuccino with lovely coffee.Also took away some lovely cake for later too.Will be back in February and can't wait.

So good we went back twice:) , brilliant food with plenty of choice, whether you want a pasty and beans as a quick lunch, toasted sandwiches, enormous soup mugs, salads and plenty if you have a sweet tooth. A very cosy place that locals and tourists alike use. It stocks local produce as well as the bakery goods.

Good quality food at reasonable prices. The rolls are freshly made to order and the cakes / pastries are beautiful.

Walked in a received a friendly smile plus a great cup of tea. They do gluten free muffins. My husband had a steak pie followed by a carrot cake slice. We were both happy with our choices and enjoyed sipping on a great cup of tea while warming up and drying off

Absolutely loved this place. The food is delicious. The coronation chicken baguette came on seeded crunchy bread and thick with chicken. Would also very highly reccomend the jacket potato and sausage roll. Went both days we were on Tobermory. Sensational lunch

Amazing bakery. Scotch pies are the best I have eaten, anywhere. All food is made on site, a fantastic range of goods. Well worth a visit for fresh, tasty, value for money baked goods.

Very good cakes and coffee but we only managed to get in once out of three attempts. Some staff can be a bit offhand giving the impression that custom is easy to come by.

We had brunch here and bought a whole selection of cakes. It was fantastic we thought the service and food was great. It is lovely to be in such a bustling local place. The cakes were awesome too!

We popped in here a couple of times for lunches and coffee and cake. The prices were reasonable and a good range of choices available. It does get very busy but there is the option to take away if no seats are available.

The three of us ended up in this cafe, looking for lunch before we set off on our Mull Charters Sea Eagles trip. Our main priority was finding something which would cater to all of us, which included 2 largely vegetarian diets and 1 vegan diet. This cafe was small and not much seating available. Menu catered to our tastes. My husband and our vegan friend had the smashed avocado option, which they both enjoyed. I had the smoked salmon and scrambled egg option which was accompanied by tea. We managed to occupy one and half tables but was continually interrupted in our meal by a local (I think) artist who insisted that other people coming into the cafe needed their own table and would I move? He was very insistent about it and it got to the point where it was annoying. He himself made no effort to move to accommodate paying customers.

Great food, extensive menu, efficient and pleasant service, very good value for money. Loved the sign in the window about children and behaviour. There were no badly behaved children present at all. It obviously works!

We visited on a day trip from Oban - and were surprised at how reasonably priced nice coffee and enormous scones were. Thank you!

Although we didn't eat in the bakery we did shop for fresh meat and fruit pies to take back to our self catering. We bought fresh bread most days and picnic items. We returned several times & the food was always as good

One sunny day this summer, we popped in for lunch and what a find. Small but perfectly formed, a wee bakery where you can sit and have lunch. It is take away or table service. A lovely mix of pies sandwiches baked potatoes etc. All our food was delicious and served by friendly efficient staff. My friend is vegetarian and enjoyed a spicy Moroccan pie. A variety of the usual drinks are on offer as well.

We bought sandwiches and cakes here a couple of times to take on day trips. The sandwiches were prepared to order and were very fresh. The cakes were delicious.

The food is always very nice here, they have a varied menu and the cakes are to die for! Love love love.

Stopped here after being at sea for 12 days for a delicious breakfast with friends. My smashed avocado was very tasty indeed. The choice of non dairy milk was very broad and the staff were lovely. The vegan sausage roll was good too.

The sign on the window says badly behaved children will be turned into pies. People walking by were commenting on it in agreement. Do parents need this stess and judgement. We didn't go in as a result and it made Tobermory feel unfriendly and intolerant.

This cafe on the principal street provides very good scones to go with coffee or tea. Good service, prices and toilets. The staff were friendly and helpful. This is the place to go for a quick snack if on Mull.

Visited here today for a takeaway lunch. We ordered cheese and ham roll, sausage roll, Brie & tomato and cream cheese with smoked salmon. Although they were very busy the service was quick and the rolls were delicious. Many thanks.

We enjoyed our lunch at the bakery, good value for money, clean and lovely friendly staff, also love the chiller cabinet where you can buy sausages, pies and other stuff made from local produce I especially love the venison pie 😋👍

All the delicious items were sprawled out and the chocolate eclairs looked homemade and they were. Never had one because I decided to try the Millionaire shortbread and another day the scones. Something for everyone! So much to select from. Friendly and kind servers.
