Wow, the food was absolutely amazing and the staff were so warm and welcoming on a chilly autumn evening. The smoked haddock soufflé was unforgettable! The restaurant has a lovely, cozy, pub feel but the food is absolutely top notch. So unexpected at the bottom of a windy road. I hope one day to make it back to experience it all over again, just wonderful.

We were booked in to stay here but there was a booking.com problem which meant that the booking had somehow got cancelled. They had no spare rooms… however they got us booked into a nearby hotel with dinner at no extra cost. They dealt with a problem not of their making in a proffesional and courteous manner and went beyond what I might have reasonably expected to put right the problem.

We stayed at this hotel on a B&B basis. We had made reservations for dinner in the bar on our first night and in the restaurant on the second night. Either way did not really matter, as the menu was the same in each - and what a wonderful menu, with first class service and hospitality. On our second night, we decided on the seafood platter, with an additional lobster - fresh from the sea into the kitchen and on to our plate thermidored. Service by a couple of staff, both of whom were exceptional - was a great experience. Sammy, the youngest and newest member of the team was/is the difference that made a truly wonderful experience of the fruits of the sea

We just went for a cup of tea and scone, jam and cream to share some time there with our daughter. We didn’t stay at this hotel so can’t say more. The scone with berries and clotted cream got a thumbs-up From all of us. The tables were rather bare - functional rather than attractive but the venue is lovely.

We had an uncheduled due to some campervan technical issues. Restaurant promises Seafood heaven an in some respects it did not disappoint. Wonderful location and superb interior. In var area with our dog and made very welcome. Very attentive staff. Food was superb but expensive. Mussels had no bread or accompanying side and the Monkfish was awesome but two tiny portions which would have been fine it was £20 or came with sides.... sadly it didn't as it was £30 with nothing to save the embarrassing portion size. Overall lovely place but they need to put more on the plate or change less!¡

Great meal at the "new" Pierhouse last week. After a 2 month closure for refurbishment, The Pierhouse reopened with new kitchen facilities, and we were joined by friends for dinner. The menu is "compact and bijou" and, as explained to us, by a very competent server, is designed to allow flexibility of choice I.e. you are not confined to the traditional "starter/main/pud"model. We had, variously, the crispy lamb, whipped gruth dubh, Cullen skink, burnt hollandaise grilled fish, bouillabaisse, dark chocolate tart and apple tart with custard. All excellent and imaginatively executed and presented. My grilled fish with the hollandaise sauce and crayfish was truly superb. All the staff are not just knowledgeable but keen to help and enhance the whole, very special experience that dining at The Pierhouse is.

I have dined at the Pierhouse on several occasions now, both as a hotel resident and walk-in. The food has, on every occasion, been some of the best I have experienced. The cosy yet tasteful decor combined with the stunning panoramic landscape views provides an immersive experience of some of the best seafood that Scotland has to offer. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The menu caters surprisingly well to vegetarian/vegan diners too, with the chef clearly giving as much consideration to these unique dishes as to the meat and fish. All in all, one of my favourite restaurants that I always look forward to revisiting.

I cant praise this wee gem of a hotel highly enough. From the super friendly staff to the fabulous food..it adds up to an incredibly relaxing indulgent experience. Being a returning customer I could see the improvements and renovations being carried out both in the bedroom and public areas. The beds are still just as comfortable and guarantee a great nights sleep. Rooms are spotless and lovely welcoming touches are appreciated. The star of this hotel tho is the food..best seafood to be had anywhere and the cheese soufflé and cullen skink is to die for. Menu is varied and there is something for everyone ...have tried most of it during our many stays and now find it difficult to chose a favourite dish. Servers are great at talking you thro the dishes/flavours and very informative about seasonal changes. Breakfast is cooked to order..just the way you like it and has a good selection. Very clear to see why Pierhouse is in the Michelin guide and winning excellence awards for their food. Dogs were very well welcomed and catered for with towels biscuits and bowls. Cant wait to go back in better weather to sit on the new deck soaking up the views watching the world go by. Highly recommended

Absolutely the best in the west The food at the Pierhouse just gets better and better. The seafood is mouth watering and there are delicious vegetarian and meat options for those who don't eat fish. But you'd be missing out on the freshest fish cooked perfectly. Desserts are to die for especially the sticky toffee pudding. The staff are brilliant, nothing is too much trouble and they are all 'on it', a very impressive team. On top of this, the location is spectacular with beautiful comfortable decor. Sorry to say we were disappointed. We stayed and ate here for 2 nights in November ‘23 then again earlier this week (March ‘24) ; hoping that after the refurbishments that the hugely positive reputation and eye watering price tag were well placed- conclusion? no, not really. Room lovely and comfortable but sadly only those without dogs qualify for the sea view option. Dinner: some really excellent dishes- although pretty small and very expensive. A few strange misfits: smoking potatoes really doesn't work - the very strong bitter flavour overpowering all else; also seasonal greens are great but another strong flavour and these were the only vegetable sides on offer, besides chips. Breakfast was very - surprisingly- disappointing: the only bread available was supermarket white sliced (peculiar after we had the most fabulous crusty homemade bread with dinner the previous evening). Otherwise, such an old fashioned offering (the orange juice and marmalade are excellent though). Just a couple of Kellogg's type choices of cereal. The closest thing to muesli and fresh fruit they suggested came as a soup plate full of plain granola and a second soup plate full of tinned fruit salad. hmm. Bacon thick and not crispy and eggs overcooked. Background music we felt was inappropriate with the same type piped relentlessly at all times of day: lots of early rock&roll and raucous R&B. However, the staff are all just lovely - we enjoyed meeting them all and lots of other guests; and the location is fabulous. We just feel that it doesn't quite hang together yet and really wasn't value for money.

This is my second review as is being redone after comments left by the general manager. My pal read it as well and explained the difference in experience from last time 10 years ago under different ownership. Put simply this place overcooks food, would charge you for the air you breath as an extra if it could, like others have said half of the food is over cooked. This is not to the same standards under previous ownership. No starters on the menu ... this is how far its gone down hill. The uncooked food ie oysters were great to be fair though. The tarte tatin was a joke. The proper custard ( I don't think they know the French words for it lol) was thin and clearly did not use egg yokes and a vanilla pod. If they did it was the worst version ever made. Service was hit and miss. We ended up with a tiny monkfish dish that was left on our table for 5 to 10 min, then taken away to another table after asking us had we eaten any lol we will not be back. Expect a gobby reply from the general manager saying how great they are and how perfect she is lol.

Full of high expectations prior to arrival. A beautiful setting - right on the waterfront. However the check In was completed in the middle of the bar which was extremely busy and it all felt very awkward. We had booked for dinner. The food is on the expensive side however it wasn’t the cost that was the issue it was the menu and the quality that really let it down. Not easy to navigate the menu as it looked like a menu of mains and no starters. Then the realisation that if you wanted any veg or potatoes you had to pay extra on top of what was already an expensive main dish. The mussels were dry and over cooked. The room was ok. Bed wasn’t that comfortable and mattresses past the sell by date. However the welcome biscuits were nice. Breakfast was disappointing. The sausages were bland and the brioche French toast was a large inedible slab. On checking out we were given a bill with items we hadn’t had. several of which had been consumed by another party before we had even arrived. What really angered us was the attitude of the ‘manager’ who was abrupt and cocky when the bill was challenged. Also watch out for the 20% service charge added without any consultation. We won’t be back despite the lovely location.

A lovely hidden gem! We stumbled across the Pierhouse on our travels as we needed somewhere to stop in to feed the little one (and get a drink!) Lovely interior, excellent and attentive staff. Well worth the short trip off the main road to visit.

We've visited the Pierhouse many times - usually for lunch or afternoon tea in their cozy bar. (We're local so haven't stayed at the hotel and can't comment on the rooms.) However, a couple of weeks ago we took some friends for dinner in the...

We were staying around 10 miles away but definitely worth the drive for a fabulous meal. The service is relaxed, view fantastic and of course the food was superb. Would recommend the fisherman’s pie and en-croute. Prices are very reasonable especially as they are clearly...

Great quality dishes, enjoyed by all. Front of house staff were warm, professional and helpful. Scenic location just added to the lunch. Thoroughly recommended.

My husband had had the Pier House Platter which was epic. We had a lovely table by the window overlooking the loch and the service was amazing. Both meals were excellent and the staff is very attentive. We would highly recommend.

Stayed three nights, it was as good as last time, the food was great and they made a special effort for my wife who is vegetarian, we will be going again!

Very late arrival to restaurant after a long day out driving around the highland areas. Tasty fish and chips, eaten looking at the most stunning sunset. Thanks to the staff for asking the kitchen to feed us 😍. Really appreciate you accommodating us.

Highly recommend a visit to the Alan Stevenson house restaurant, it’s a little tucked away at Hynish but definitely worth the drive over. Very well stocked bar, amazing service and excellent food. There was 8 of us including 2 kids, there isn’t a kids menu but discussing this at booking they said it would be no problem to rustle something up and they made maca and chicken goujons which went down a treat. We all had something different but every meal was delicious. The fish was too big for the plate!!! We were lucky that we had 2 drivers which allowed the rest to enjoy some drinks but Kris did say if we are back again and would like a drink but no way home he said mention it to them and they might be able to suggest a lift which was a nice touch. Maybe bear that in mind if you want to visit!! Very well stocked bar as I said

Just been announced that it is now permanently closed. The owners’ other 2 restaurants, a pizzeria and a tapas restaurant, are still open along the front.
