Scarecrow in North Lanarkshire

Popped in on a Sunday afternoon for a family lunch with kids. I ordered Lamb Rump and it was delicious. Kids enjoyed their chicken nuggets and macaroni cheese, whilst my wife had an excellent steak and ale pie. Great service, family friendly atmosphere and fantastic value for money. We will go back.

Food was lovely, the waitresses were very helpful. The only issue was the loud(ish) music, which was fine if you were not there for a chat. The waitress turned it down but it appeared to go back up automatically.

Sunday dinner treat @ The Scarecrow Bar & Grill is a must. The Sunday roast ( I chose the ham) was excellent. Ample serving too. This place deserves 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. The staff are so polite & attentive without being in your face. Thank you to the owner Andy for the 20% discount. So kind of you. So lucky to have such an excellent local place to eat, relax & enjoy. 🥂

We had lunch at Scarecrow today and I'm not well, had cesar salad. The croutons were soggy from cheep oil substitutes. This thing was also in the dressing. Chicken was ok but had no much tests to it. I eat less than half of this dish but still have super sore stomach and feel sick. The restaurant did smell of burned oil and it stocked to out our clothe and heir. I don't understand why people serve this nasty oil substitutes and think that's ok. Staff were nice but I would not recommend the food for now. And actually feel bad for not completing and paying for this salad.

1st time back in years, omg how it's changed since I was a youngster. Still the same cosy feel to the place, loving the new decor- menu superb, staff really friendly- whatnot to like!!

Popped in with my elderly mother for a coffee and a scone. I had a wine and cheesecake! Lovely place, staff very attentive and it's very reasonably priced too.

Scarecrow has lots of events on at weekends which are really good. Food is nice but I prefer to dine elsewhere for a better choice in menu. As a vegetarian I felt there wasn't enough options. The vegetarian breakfast is quite nice as is the vegetarian mixed grill other than that you have soup, macacroni, curry and mushroom tempura which is normally lovely, on occasions it can be very watery making the batter soggy. Atmosphere is ok but lacks a welcoming cosy feel. Lunch menu is average price but can be a bit over priced for some items.

Gluten free options think again... A very disappointing dining experience. Booked the restaurant my my gluten intolerant partners birthday. Turned up to the restaurant to find out the only vegetarian gluten free dish was sold out. After speaking to the waitress to try and pick another meal we were informed that the food infact is not gluten free because everything is cooked in the same fryers. Highly disappointing after their menu has many GF options, but on visiting this is infact very incorrect. Tbe restaurant seriously need to reconsider getting a new menu as it puts people with allergies at risk. I also opted for the nachos. These were some of the worst nachos I have eaten. Dry, hardly any topping and very disappointing. Waitresses were lovely. However, overall a very underwhelming visit and unfortunately we wouldn't revisit.

Booked a family meal for Easter Sunday evening. The food was fantastic and the staff were really friendly. My wife and I both had steak and ale pie and the kids enjoyed there meals also. The kids shared an oreo cheesecake which they both thoroughly enjoyed. Would highly recommend!

Wee took the dog for breakfast can honestly say we all had a fabulous time the breakfast was amazing and staff were so friendly and Skye loved her breakfast too thanks would highly recommend 100% even doggy biscuits if you have a dog and water bowl thanks to the staff you were all so friendly will definitely be back

I do like it, I’m local, but the music is always so bad. Basic ‘bar’ toss, far too modern and ‘dancy’ for the actual people in the place. Auto tuned dance hall influenced pop? For me and my lager and the others drinking mild and red wine with their dinner?…

Booked for Mother’s Day lunch - arrived to find out I had actually booked for the day before! Staff were lovely and accommodated us. Food was delicious - I had the sea bass and my partner had the pork, followed by sticky toffee pudding and biscoff cheesecake. Left feeling full and very content!! 👍🏻

Sorry Food Was Not Good. Had a lunch here firstly staff were great friendly and helpful. Food was almost inedible. I didn’t finish anything only tasted it. Veg curry was awful sorry need to sort the food a curry is easy to make. First and last time.

Absolutely brilliant day at their boujee brunch, the staff were amazing, very quick with drinks, wry accommodating and a great laugh! Food was fab, the dj/sax player were outstanding. Honestly, one of the best days in a long time

We went to the scarecrow today for the first time & first time taking our puppy out to a pub/ restaurant. The staff were so friendly especially the girl that was serving us, unfortunately I didn't catch her name but she is a credit to your company! We were advised it was busy and could wait a little, but it was fast, steady service. The food was great!! Nice and fresh. Also nice cocktails. We will definitely be back with our little pup!

Was really looking forward to eating in this place, and was very dissapointed, waited a long time for our food, soup for the Mrs & a cajun chicken wrap for myself, the food needed seasoning to make it better, I asked for No onions (as I have an allergy) and was given onions in the salad and in the coleslaw 😡, so the Mrs put the onions in to her soup to give it a bit of flavour which seemed to work, but my cajun wrap was bland and to be honest won't be rushing back, the place looks lovely and could be fantastic but my experience was not good, this is an honest opinion.

Went for a visit on Sunday with my partner. Had starters then the Sunday roast. Omg! Food was delicious and portions were huge. One of best Sunday roasts ever. We eat out at weekend regularly so love great food. Staff and service great too. Friendly atmosphere Will definitely be back. 👌

Avoid avoid avoid. Little to no management control over staff who can take umbrage at being asked questions about delayed booking for Christmas. Please don’t dare question anyone as they will be immediately offended and have to call their “manager “ who will call your mobile just to have an accusatory argument with you to prove a point of who is in charge. Trying to mansplain to me how everyone is ill or not quite trained and aren’t able to assist. Very unfortunate as I was a big fan of this place. Really need new managers in and staff who can deal with hospitality and are efficient. Sad sad times.

Service was absolutely shocking

Friendly welcome from staff & being dog friendly made our first visit a positive event. We just had drinks & as far as drinks go it’s worth a visit. Next visit we will return for food.

Really would struggle to find anything negative here. The food has been utterly delicious anytime we’ve been in. We have tried a variety of different dishes from the menu and honestly can’t fault anything. Kudos to the chef ! Fabulous!! Then to the staff - what can I say? An utterly delightful bunch of people. All are so welcoming and helpful, polite, smart and nothing is a bother. Whoever is in charge of hiring is doing a fab job. You’re on a roll folks and long may this continue . We are loving the place!

Fabulous place, amazing generous sized portions of food, the fish cooked to perfection. Loved the steamed vegetables all well presented. The staff were highly efficient, attentive and very courteous. Overall a really wonderful experience for our anniversary . Highly recommend the Scarecrow.

We visited today for the first time as a family. Most of us had the Sunday Roast & both the beef & ham were outstanding. The other main was equally as good. Huge portions & very tasty. We all had various cheesecakes with ice cream which were homemade & delicious. Highly recommended

My wife and I ate here at the weekend and were extremely impressed with everything the Scarecrow had to offer. The young waiting staff were impeccable and extremely welcoming. The food itself was top drawer, beautifully presented and moderately priced. The ambience, from the oldy-worldly building itself to the background music was spot on. We both thoroughly enjoyed our experience and are looking forward to our next visit already!

My friend and I had a lovely lunch today. Menu is so varied and has something for everyone at very good prices. Cakes, desserts and wine were all delicious. The restaurant itself is very clean with lovely decor. It has a very comfortable to feel to it. Having said all that we would like to praise the young man who was our server, Taylor, so polite,chatty and well mannered an excellent asset to your business. We have already booked for next week. My partner was given the monkfish (most expensive menu item at £24.00) which was presented in a bath of oil and butter that came off too sickly for our taste and made my partner feel gross and sick. Plate was taken away with 1/3rd eaten. No refund/reduction of the bill was offered because "that's how it's supposed to be" ----- Edit: Received 4 missed calls from the manager over 1 hour expressing his unhappiness with the review and how devastating a review like this would be on a family run business. Realising that I was a bit harsh in the original review, I've amended to remove opinion based comments. They offered for us to come back for a vouchered breakfast or lunch which after some thought have decided we will not be taking up. If they had offered this at the time, then this review wouldn't even be here. Having worked in the hospitality industry previously, we'd get customers similar to us where the food just simply was inedible. It's always worth replacing/refunding on the basis that more profit would be achieved in the long term by maintaining a positive relationship with the customer instead of initially declining the refund and having to get the customer to fight for it or leave a negative review. ---- 2nd Update: Updating review again. When asked by the waitress if we wanted to order something else in addition, we said "no, because my partner feels sick." If you look at the photo, you can see the plate is swimming in oil and butter. The menu specially states "Chorizo & Caper Butter". There is no mention of the word "sauce". On the phone, the manager said that we should've kicked up a bigger fuss when in restaurant - we did, in which the manager declined (through proxy of the waitress) to remove the item from the bill. Contradictory, no? Even though I've amended my review to be much more polite and with a higher score, the manager is still determined to complain about the previous review instead of apologising for the experience and accepting fault. Whilst we considered returning in future, without any compensation, the clear hostility and defensiveness of the manager has left a sour taste in the mouth which proves that this relationship cannot be salvaged. I can't understand the need to air complaints about a review that no longer exists just to try to point out to other reviewers how bad a person I am? Either way, I am satisfied that we will not be returning. I believe this family run business has a chance at being great, and serves decent quality food. I think what we experienced this evening was just an unfortunate chain of events inflamed by anger from both sides. I would suggest other Google Local Guides making their own opinions of this establishment themselves.

Lovely setting, and fun to watch people cutting about the high street. Fish n chips was good and my wife's Sunday dinner was just right. Our kids ate free which was a big bonus; would've happily paid the full whack as it was good quality. Or as good as chicken nuggets get.

My husband and I popped in for a quick bite What a disappointment the meal was one of the worse I have had.was a regular customer at scarecrow but I’m afraid we won’t be back .and. £8 for a glass of Chardonnay was a bit steep

Omg I can't stop thinking about the soup 😍 butternut squash, chilli & pepper (I think that's what it was called), I just know it was amazing get if you have a cold lol.

Left booking the Santa experience too late which is why we were experiencing it in Nov haha Great place. Accommodated us after short notice. Duck special with malbec was excellent. Very child friendly, son thoroughly enjoyed his aero cake! Highly recommended.
