The best Sunday Roast in York, if not England, if not the WORLD!!

A really nice, quaint pub just outside the city walls of York. The decor is beautiful with plenty of seating inside and out. There are plenty of drink choices and the staff are really friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend visiting here when in York! ☆☆☆☆☆

Only one person was working so he was trying to do everything and all the work surfaces were extremely dirty

Awful food, please do not waste your money here as the dishes are tasteless and if you know the real taste of Indian food, you will know it's a scam. Please visit a restaurant which is authentic and prepares quality dishes. The owner strolls about in casual clothes with a morbid face like a smile will cost him more than a portion of his disgusting lamb chops!

My wife made a telephone booking for a family group of 15 as a birthday treat for me, a Sunday carvery. That booking was made in August, the table was booked for Sunday October 27th at 2pm. When we turned up, we were told that they had no record of any booking for our group and could not accommodate us for over an hour. We had travelled from York, Scarborough, Ripon and Easingwold to meet for this occasion, so to be told, in a disinterested manner that we couldn't be served was very upsetting and annoying. We were then told, after several protests that their sister establishment in Haxby would be able to accommodate us, but only with a standard menu, not carvery, which is what everyone wanted. Reluctantly we went to the Cottage Inn at Haxby, which had staffing issues, the wait was almost an hour for what was disappointing food. After speaking to the manager, my wife and I were offered a free carvery at the Red Lion in the future. Everyone in our group agreed that after this awful experience we will not be returning to either establishment, nor will we be recommending them to anyone else. It is sad that I wasn't able to share a positive review, we didn't get to enjoy the food that has been given good reviews, which, after poor service from the previous owners, we were all so looking forward to returning. Our agreed opinion is that the booking system requires urgent attention, as well as the front of house manner.

Met with a friend for coffee .in this busy york Costa. They have added more outside seating .which will be nice in the warmer weather .didn't eat as .this time

£5 for a coke was a bit steep more than a pint of beer 🍺

Went yesterday for a meal with the family. Unfortunately a large disappointment. The portion sizes we extremely small, the food was cold and for the prize, very underwhelming!!!

My Favourite pub in York - lovely staff, great beer, wonderful fires in every room & games to play, come every time I am in town. Can't get anyone to answer the phone when I call, hope it is not permanantly closed!?

Worst so far , ordered on just eat, did not even attempt to deliver as we were on a camp site on holiday, when questioned where our food was , They replied left at gate no attempt to call even though they had plot number and phone number, AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Came for a takeaway on a Sunday night wehad a pizza, wedges and chicken nuggets. Food was ready within 20 mins and was absolutely superb, the lady behind the counter was lovely. 10/10 would definitely recommend. Thanks guys

Used Cathay twice now, quality ingredients. Quality food.

Short stop to have drinks and snacks. Everywhere nice and clean, service excellent.
