Had experienced the wonders of their burgers at spark so was really looking forward to visiting them in Castlegate. Overall my anticipation was just that and I was left feeling a little bit frustrated with the experience. Value wise, it's not cheap and the quality just felt a little sub-par. It's hard to explain, but it's lost some of it's charm.

Accidentally stumbled into this place and have not stopped thinking about it since! Easily the best meal I have ever eaten!!

As a lifelong consumer of fried chicken and being from North America I can honestly say this was some of the finest fried chicken I have even eaten. No grease, crispy coating, and a spice that didn’t hit you straight away but kinda sneaked up on you and left your tastebuds dancing. The fries were a great partnership for the chicken but the Mac n cheese stole the show. Creamy and thick, not dry and with Parmesan and bits of crispy chicken crumbs on the top. This place smashes all comers.

Mouth wateringly good menu and fried chicken to die for. We also had the buffalo wings (best buffalo sauce I think I’ve had!) and Parmesan truffle fries. It was all super tasty and our waitress Hannah was really attentive but not over bearing. Nothing was too much trouble. What a great find in York!

Fantastic all round. The service was spot on, the staff were very attentive and welcoming. The food arrived within 15 minutes of ordering. It was very flavoursome and well presented. We shall definitely return!

Really great, yummy food. The service was quick and efficient. My only complaint was that we were sat at the back near the kitchen and our clothes really stank, I even had to wash my coat, hat and gloves when I got home! Maybe they need to install some better extractor fans?

Great place! Staff is so friendly and welcoming. Chicken was so fresh and crispy. Loved the menu options - there’s something for everyone. I had the Buffalo Blue and my husband the Dean Martin and we were both so impressed. Loved it all!

Fantastic food. Great price. Attentive service, exceptionally friendly and interactive team, Emi and co. Can’t fault the food, the locality and ambience.

Order the chicken from this place when we visit spark and it’s absolutely exceptional every time. Don’t leave spark in York please. You make the place what it is.

Really delicious chicken, juicy and crispy and cooked to perfection. Great chips and lots of sauce options. Would highly recommend

The newly opened restaurant in Junethis year is going from strength to strength ,was dining on the newly launched revised menu ,,and wow what a menu full of flavour and quality ingredients , the chippy Tea meal was brilliant and brought back some memories the side order of hash brown with parmsan custard and parmasan tuille was magnificent. the staff were very attentive and the chefs definately knew what they were doing . the small restaurant was filled with a happy atmosphere . will definately be going back as soon as I return to York . Great Food, Great People and Great Value

Absolutely amazing chicken burgers, batter was still crispy & chicken tender & juicy. Sauce ratio & toppings etc were on point. Rosemary chips as well were just spot on. Ordered via Deliveroo, arrived in just under 30 mins from point of ordering, well defo try again 😀

Called here whilst visiting family in York. Ordered the Nashville Hot, the Dean Martin and a kids chicken strip meal. Firstly I couldn’t fault the staff, the two ladies were great and made us very welcome despite not having a reservation. The food and drinks arrived fairly quickly, however, I was disappointed that the Nashville Hot isn’t really hot at all. In fact, not sure it’s seen any form of hot spice? That said , the chicken was crisp and juicy. My wife had the Dean Martin which was the better of the two. My daughter’s meal was expected, basic chicken strips and chips. Couldn’t fault it. One thing to be aware of is that the extraction of the chip fat smell is poor, we came out stinking like a deep fat fryer and had to wash our clothes as soon as we got home, so steer clear of seating near the back kitchen area if possible! All in all though I would give this place another go, as long as I’m not seated near the kitchen.

This place is fantastic. It has a great vibe and the staff are so attentive, nothing was too much! The food is so tasty and very good value for money. So glad we found this!! Thank you!

Limited menu, but had a very tasty Dean Martin chicken burger with a side of classic fries. Would reccomend as it's quite a taste sensation

Hands down the best chicken burger I have ever had! I had the rodeo burger and loaded bombay fries. Both absolutely delicious. My partner had the royal burger - also delicious.Cannot recommend enough! Next time I am back in York I will be back!

Just great! We were looking for something a bit different and this was it! Great staff, great vibe, great chicken ‘n’ beer! A hidden gem - don’t miss it!
