Staff very helpful especially helping with my wheelchair access and seeing us to our seats in the comedy lounge

Woah. Been to many taprooms all over UK, Europe and US. This is what you would call a 'good one'. Big choice of beers from this decent brewery and others, several casks too, and Korean street food including some delicious vegan options. Love it.

Solo el lado negativo era la aplicación de alimentos para entregar a su mesa. No funcionó correctamente, así que ni idea de si la comida era la mitad de buena que la cerveza.

Go upstairs! The ground floor only has a small selection of beers, but upstairs has tons of taps to choose from!

Selection of drinks and food is a big thumbs up. However, disappointed they don’t accept cash for payment, although not unusual these days. As a cash alternative, maybe visit one of the other many wonderful independent public houses and eateries around the market.

So many beer options at various sizes so you can try a bit of various drinks. Busy upstairs but still kid friendly. Great staff with quick bar service.

Always a favourite place when in York. Very busy on Sunday night for the quiz, but still pretty quick service at the bar. Food good too.

Great venue and beers for all tastes

The place is huge, it has a huge variety of beers and the food is very good.

This was number one on my list of places to visit in York and it does not disappoint. An excellent space, a great range of beers including guest beers, and the food is exceptional. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Have been to this place a couple of times now and love its vibe, this place is pretty huge with two floors and a beer garden too. This second visit I found the room upstairs with a vast selection of beers then downstairs they have a the Tap room where you can even go on a tour of their working brewery. This is a very popular venue and well worth a visit if you in York.

Brew York is a fantastic place to enjoy a relaxed drink with friends. The atmosphere is always buzzing, and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They have an amazing selection of their own craft beers, so you're sure to find something you like. If you're not a beer drinker, they also have a great selection of cocktails, coffee, and soft drinks. I highly recommend checking out Brew York if you're in the area.

Good location. Great venue. Loads of different rooms with a different vibe. Endless selection of all drinks not just ales. So big I think you'll always find somewhere to sit. And the food on offer is incredible. And one of the best, (albeit small) beer gardens hidden out the back by the river.

Pheonominal, a must go place! I want to live here! 🤣 You've done the Jorvik Viking Centre and York Minster. You've walked around Shambles Market. So you need a place to unwind. Brew York Walmgate is the place! A staggering 50 taps, super friendly helpful staff and delicous Yuzu East Asian Street food all under one roof.

Time travelling taxi is the best beer I have ever had, and I have had literally thousands. It is pure beauty. Perfection. Excellence. When I die, place my body on a raft and sail me out over a paddling pool filled with TTT. Then set fire to me. And serve the beer at the wake. People honestly won't mind it is simply that good.

One of the nicest bitters I have had for a while. Loads of seating downstairs with viewing into the fermenting vessel area or out by the river side.

Well worth a visit. Has a range of spaces: noisy beer hall, chill brewhouse-feel downstairs (large vats are literally in arms reach), lounge area, outdoor spaces (some covered). Loads of beers and options to do a flight of tasters. Good Asian street food options. Kids and dogs are allowed in too. Should be on every beer lovers plan for visiting York.

Bliddy loved the place. We stumbled across it and was blown away by the huge beer hall. The stouts were amazing. Came home with two bagfuls of cans from the shop. Staff lovely and helpful. Will be back.

If you like beers and ales, you will love it here! There is a huge amount to choose from, plus wines and cocktails for those who like other drinks. This review is based on one pint and one meal, but I do plan to return. My IPA was delicious and I got 15% off with the blue light card. My Hoisin Duck Bonburi was also very tasty, fresh and full of tender duck. There was 10% off that too. All of the staff were friendly, helpful and smiling - which I think is always a good sign. I only didn't stay longer because I was on my bike and my IPA went down far too well! I will return. There is also a shop selliing merchandise and beers!

Was expecting a run of the mill tour but the guide was great fun and there are some expectionally good beverages to be had! Highly recommended

Fantastic Shed 7 Homecoming IPA and asian street food that you can order by just scanning a QR code that was great. Really busy when we called but staff were great and helpful would recommend if in York call in and give them a try well worth the visit.

Really delicious food and incredibly kind staff. Went with my young dog who was very excited to be there and let out a few barks, another customer asked them to make us leave and was incredibly rude to us and the staff, he made me feel really uncomfortable for being there. The staff apologised for him being so rude, brought my dog some chicken and gave us a dessert on the house, I was so overwhelmed by their kindness , my dog never let out another bark, turns out she had better manners than him , thank you Brew York 🐾

Absolute belter of a place! A great range of delicious beers, served very efficiently (even with a busy bar!) by friendly and polite staff. The food is incredible too, also served very promptly. Superb spot on the river. Absolute gem.

Beer, location and setup is all fab. Would have been 5 star if not for the rude young man serving who seemed to have some sort of chip on his shoulder. Suggestion, don't get a job in hospitality! Thankfully, the young lady took over the order. Total polar opposite! Good job! P.S. the stout is lush!

One of my go-to places in York. Brew York has a huge selection of drinks that you can buy in 1/3 pints to try as many as possible. The beer hall has a great atmosphere & there is also a beer garden outside. You can order yuzu street food there too which is delicious. I’d definitely recommend this place for food & drinks.

Absolutely loved the venue. The bar staff were incredible, lovely and had a great taste in music! Considering we were in a Beer Hall, the cocktails and wine choices were also amazing! Similarly, our tour guide James was very informative, engaging and knowledgeable about the craft beer industry. Being non-beer drinkers, the tour was very enlightening and gave a nice array of tasters (which were presented amazingly by Jack who changed the taster to better suit my taste). Can highly recommend the Beer Hall for a good drink and some nice street food from Yuzu!

Beer is great but I find it annoying when people their young children in and allow them to scream and tap dance their way around the bar. It can feel like a creche at times.

We go back here time and time again. Fantastic food on site (Yuzu's is amazing) as well as a great selection of craft beers. Pet friendly, seating inside and out, and overall just a great atmosphere

Hauling ourselves across the city from the gate at Lawrence St up Walmgate on the hottest day of the year so far I feared we wouldn't make it to our target destination (rather mundanely Holland and Barrett) without dying of thirst on the way. I'd already forsaken the Rook and G in passing and my other half was clearly much more hydrated than myself so I needed to devise a way to distract her attention so I could craftily install myself into an available hostelry to shelter from the beating rays. Ah! I said, I need a new inner tube, and swung a right into Recycle York. After a few steps we happened upon what appeared to be a small retail unit selling ales. What's this place then? I asked, ignoring now the bike shop.... and so my (our) boozy odyssey at Brew York began. It reminded me of the 3 engineers tap (Winterbourne in Bristol) but on steroids and in town. Charming staff, amazing confections, very convivial atmosphere, sun on your face.... what more do you want? Knocks the big boys into next year. Wayne and Lee have a great place here - try it and see.

Great place for a big gathering. Outside/inside sitting. Good variety of beers. And some cool Star wars themed cans of beer with very unique flavors. My favorite one was the Mangolorian.

Wow, what a selection of beers. You could get into a whole heap if trouble working your way through the taps. Not the comfiest of seats but the beer does make up for it.

Fab beers... we order online for home delivery but as we were in York decided we had to visit the bar and it didn't disappointment! Great beers and atmosphere. We had already eaten which was a mistake as the food looked amazing!

Just like the other negative reviews, I've been a regular of Brew York since day one. We visited last Friday for some food and a few drinks, 8 of us, it was only 8pm and 3 of the group were not even drinking. We didn't even get near the entrance before we were turned away by the security, all in 30's and 40's. Simply ridiculous and such a shame for Yuzu. I will follow up with an email. *** Update: No reply to my email, which would suggest they are not as bothered as the reply suggests ***

The reputation of this place was great, so decided to patronise. We were a large group, enjoying a few beers locally. Unfortunately, the dinosaur on door patrol decided we were troublemakers before we had even entered the premises. We'd had exactly 2 beers each at this stage, and were not looking to do more than peruse the fridges and perhaps enjoy a beer before heading out for dinner. Unfortunately, we were not permitted entry. I'd avoid for this reason. The management should not be discouraging business.

If you are beer and ramen lover, this is a must go place. Start from 12 pm to 9 pm for food - ramen, gokzi, chips, ... And 40- choices of beer!!

We booked a table. Then, months later, got an email saying our booking was cancelled because they don’t take bookings anymore. Then, got turned away at the door because we didn’t have a booking.

Amazing brewery, taproom and shop serving their own and guests beers. If you love craft beer you’ll love it here! Dog friendly. Huge taproom and beer garden with a small beer garden out back facing the river.

Loved this place. A wonderful place with a good atmosphere. Large hall and brew room with a great choice of beers and ales, with good selection of glass sizes and taster options. Yuzu eatery can also be found within the hall which complements the brewery perfectly. Nice selection of tasty food with good service. I will definitely be visiting again on my next visit!

We visited this fab place twice in a couple of days, both were a great experience although having just read some other reviews, didn't realise there was a downstairs tap room as well as the upstairs beer hall! A good excuse to go back! Excellent selection of their own beers and a guest beer menu. Our first visit there were only 2 cask beers in the beer hall, but 6 cask on the next day. Seems some other reviews suggest there might be more cask in the downstairs tap room. Food was Korean style Asian and yummy, they also had an offer this week for free kids portion with an adult one but this wasn't advertised anywhere. Fab place and experience, we've visited quite a few tap rooms and personally this was up there with the best. We'd return for sure 🍻 🍺 🍻

A great visit with a large selection of drinks. The beers were great from sours and IPA’s, to ales and stouts. There is a shop downstairs where you can buy some of your favourites in cans. There is food available from Yuzu which offers a fantastic selection of Asian food. The atmosphere was great, toilets clean and there’s plenty of seating.

Love this place .. had yummy fries and great beer! Service was amazing, the beer was cracking- Coney. Ventured onto the dark lager … ooooo delish! Great to be on beer garden again!

Sadly matey boy on the door wouldn't let a group of us in. Mid thirties group looking for a quiet drink (something our friend was really wanting) who really wanted to come here, but because tomorrow was a stag, not allowed to come here. Honestly. Absolutely nuts.

Couldn't get in because I turned up with a group of other men, so the bouncer was "suspicious" we were on a stag do. Somewhat baffling to kick out a bunch of mid-30yos talking about their kids, but I suppose I don't understand the danger we posed

Cool and quirky venue with a buzzing atmosphere, wide beer selection and great accompanying street food. Your around the small brewery was also great, with a very friendly and informative guide.

Incredible selection of different beers.

Great selection of beers here (I would have loved a couple more guest ciders, but the 1 they had was nice) and a really cool venue. Unfortunately a couple of the taps weren't working so some of the lines we wanted to try were off. The atmosphere was a bit dead, but I appreciate we went on a Thursday so it wasn't going to be super rowdy! A good place to spend an hour or two with friends.

Great product, some fine ales at reasonable prices. The place was packed, lots of kids running around, very noisy. Not the usual ambience of a tap room.

Very rude staff in here couldn't believe I was insulted at the bar before I even gave my order! Haven't been back, it wasn't for me anyway I didn't enjoy their beers at all.

Wonderful venue offering a great range of interesting beers. We were made to feel very welcome by the staff. Nice and unusual to have a spacious venue in the centre of York for bigger groups. Can’t wait for our next visit

Been several times to this bar! Great atmosphere, great selection of beers (big words from not a beer lover) but also cocktails and other drinks etc. The staff are great fun and friendly, and the beer tour is fab - James conducted the one I was on. Funny chap and knowledgeable about his beer.

No ones going to have any sympathy for hospitality businesses when they're treated like they are here. 8.45pm and we're loudly told its last orders before 9pm rolls around and it's bellowed that we've 10 mins to vacate the premises. The place has 40 plus people in here, assume brew York are doing well and don't need people about. Nice last ten minutes whilst the two staff stack chairs like they're trying to break the world sound record. Won't be back and makes you wonder how plenty of better tap rooms have already gone bust.

Jorvic spotted this venue, one we have never visited before although we have had their beers elsewhere. Disappointed that there are only two real ales amongst a huge array of fizzy beers. Went for a half of Gyle at 4.9%. A hazy Pale Ale. T'other beer being 5%.. OK but no cash accepted. Similar for interesting Korean food selection. Beer Hall popular with families. ( Some sugar rich sweets on the menu.) Paulicarus likes the loud music, me not so much.

Unquestionably the best location in York for trying craft beer. Fantastic and informative tour. Beer garden with all round good vibes. Went with a mixed group as part of a visit to York on the recommendation of a friend and wasn't disappointed. Everyone had a good time. Greeted by cheery and welcoming staff who look the part, and seem to know everything about brewing. Beer selection was solid, even for fussy drinkers. Would recommend to others and will go again next time I'm in York.

Went to visit with a friend after getting a recommendation. Loved the atmosphere and friendly staff. Not much of a fan of beer usually but was wonderfully assisted by one of the staff James who pointed me towards a sour beer that I actually really enjoyed and gave me some recommendations for others. Definitely going to make a return visit.

Visited on 3 Feb with my BF and a friend for beer and food. Cool place, was lucky enough to get a booth seat which had become free. Beer was great and reasonably priced. The food was insanely good (I had the chicken and veg gyoza and chicken fried rice) Will be back on next trip to York

Terrible visit this time. Normally good and enjoyable. We sat down on a table with movable benches as we had our 2 year old with us. After ordering on the app for the food and using our table number. Some absolute idiot that was the organiser of the speed quiz came over to the table and placed a reserved card on it for half past six this was at 20 past six after ordering our food at quarter past. There was no spare tables to move onto upstairs. I asked the quiz master in question why he would reserve the table we are sat on without coming and speaking to us and his reply was it's always the quiz on a Sunday and then walked over to other members of staff and gave us funny looks and pointing. One of the brew York staff came over and told us we needed to move for half past and there is tables down stairs. Don't go down stairs as it's freezing down there even with the patio heaters on. Although the food is not the same company. This was poor and had to be returned all frozen food and the first attempt had to be returned as it was cold. The beer was good but for the price you would expect it to be. Think the venue needs to look how they interact with the customer and advice the quiz company that it's not their reputation on the line after bad interactions. Such a shame that I won't return as I really enjoy the beer. REPLY thanks for the reply I appricate your time. We were offered seating after being asked to move the second time by the quiz master not in a tasting room but down stairs and although they are heated by the means you are saying they are still cold maybe after some time being on they get hot but I've been down there many times before and i don't feel it would have been suitible but understand that's down to opinion thankyou. I spoke to the food team on the day they apologised straight away removed the food and remade the order straight away. Dealing with the review and Rectifying the issue directly by replacing the full order. I'm my opinion good quality customer service to make the customer happy and feel happy to spend their hard earned money with them. Thanks for your response I don't review to upset owners I review to help them and help people understand the quality of the establishment and owners respocnes to problems they they know what to expect. Didn’t get within 20 metres of the place. The bouncer shouted that we weren’t welcome and to turn around (there was 6 of us). Didn’t give us any option to understand what his issue was and the bar lost out on £150+ of business. Wouldn’t bother trying ever again. Shambles of a bar, would give it no stars if possible
