Lovely relaxed Friday evening meal. Just the right bit of food to fill the gap after a day walking around York seeing the sights. We had a lovely table down the back, relaxed and quiet and Kinga who looked after us was really super. Very attentive and friendly 👍

Ordered a couple of cocktails… swapped out pure for sugar syrup (pina colada) but what we ended up with were pints of ice and pineapple juice with a hint of very sweet coconut. Theres better cocktail bars in York… I’d avoid this in future.

Best bottomless brunch, make your own mimosas and offer a new BOTTLE of Prosecco when you are half way through the one you have. Food was lovely aswell with a good selection of drinks and food on the menu.

We ordered 2 cocktails for 1 and were charged for 2. The bar man said these weren’t in the offer. My husband is hard if hearing. Barman had a starred drinks menu different to ours. False and confusing advertising. Not sure where it says in the menu that it is only certain drinks.

We went here for an engagement party music was way too loud no one could hear on another and it wasent allowed to be turned down , some people food was cold by the time we got there , any other restaurants would serve a none alcoholic drink to a 17 years old but they took mine away even tho it was none alcoholic, if your kid wants a mock tail here I strongly advise you do not order one you will be questioned and it will be taken off

The service was great! Our waitress Lucy was kind, polite, funny. The foods and drinks were really good. The whole atmosphere and the DJ's playlist were perfect for me! Thanks!

We came for our engagement meal and granted it being Saturday at Easter but it took us 20 minutes to get a drink when we arrived. Once everyone arrived and we sat down in our corner we asked if it was possible to have the music turned down a little due to having older people in our group who couldn’t hear us over the tables and apparently they couldn’t (only wanted either 2 speakers turned off in our booth or turned down slightly and the dj was right there controlling the music) Ordered a mocktail for our 17 year old child and someone came over and rudely took it away from her. When questioned why, we was told because it would taste like alcohol even when it had NO alcohol in it, and yet was allowed a strawberry daiquiri? Once our pre orders was confirmed and food arrived the food was mildly warm, this ranged from nachos to the curry’s and even children’s meals, it was 10 out of 14 meals that were barely warm and it spoiled it, We won’t be returning, what was supposed to me a lovely celebration turned into a stress.

Came here for my birthday yesterday and I couldn't have asked for a better time! We had a lovely table with view of the river, the staff were absolutely amazing and fun!!! They even brought a sparkler with our drinks! The cocktails were delicious... and the food... we had 10 tapas dishes and the quality was so very very good!!! We will definitely be back :) big thank you X

Nice venue tucked away by the river. Very quiet on the day we visited so choice of seating. Nice menu, we had lunch from nice selection and a couple of cocktails. Staff were very friendly and helpful. All in all a very pleasant couple of hours

Laura was top dog, came in for 2-4-1 cocktails and made us some awesome pina coladas. Come here when it’s sunny!!!

Wow, just wow. What a guy jack stone is. He sure knows all of his stuff, can’t fault him other than for being too perfect! Ha LOL! Hopefully see him smashing out those pints in the sun one day again soon!

We found this gem on the York restaurant week website. Not somewhere we would have found by accident because it’s a little hidden away but we’re really glad we did. The staff were all great and the food was amazing which was a pleasant surprise as we were just expecting simple pub grub. Highly recommend.

Had a table booked for 15:45 and upon arrival at 15:41 there was no one seeming to seat us at the door, after hovering for 6-8 mins we made our way over to the bar area where we asked the bar back for some information regarding getting seated for our booking. After hovering for another 10-15 mins a waitress or barmaid came out and forced some people off a table in order to get us seated for our booking. After finally getting seated for our so called booking, the table was sticky and loads of rowdy lads leaning over our seats and table irritating us. We ordered 2 pints of Peroni and a cocktail where the pints were incredibly flat but the cocktail was nice. We ordered a few bits of food as we were starving and to our surprise the bang bang cauliflower was very delicious along with the chilli beef tacos. All in all, the food was decent but the service was very poor and the management/manager very obviously doesn’t care about the guest experience. If we didn’t want to be seated comfortably then we wouldn’t have bothered booking a table. It’s very unprofessional and uncaring.

Advertisement 2 for 1 cocktails outside when you go in there is a choice of 3 . Not served correctly due to lack of accompaniments such as fruit . It was our honeymoon and fancied something special .. popped outside windows filthy . Nachos ok . Attentiveness with food was better than asking for a drink . Felt ripped off . 1 cocktail of choice 1 pint nachos £30 !

I have Eaten in restaurants all over England, The Food was excellent as was the Ambience, The service by the member of staff called kinga was exceptional, a lovely Demeanor personality made the eating experience for my friend and I even more enjoyable, Thank you Kinga

I ordered a small glass of wine. After trying it (very nice service to offer a taster) i didn't like so i took another. Both wines taken from open bottles on the bar. When the bill came it was over £10 for the glass. I challenged it, bar man said 'not my fault'. I asked to see the pricing in the bar menu. Wines started at £6 or so for those priced by the glass. The wine I was served with wasn't priced by the glass, only by the bottle, so no way i could challenge. Unfortunately only realised this after the bill was paid. Total rip off.

We asked a lot of questions and both the waiting staff and bar staff - Tasha and GP - were so friendly and knowledgeable, it was really relaxing. Food was good, all hot.

Had the most phenomenal night as always - unforgettable service from the truly amazing staff here! I want them to come to my wedding - they are THAT good! I’m particularly a huge fan of Laura and Chloe! Katie and Abi are also truly amazing - beth could use some work but also the standards are so high and she does fit right in with the high-class excellent atmosphere that under her leadership has been cultivated. Forget the minister - a must visit for all York Tourists and locals alike…

Had a lovely lunch with colleagues today. Great food and service, particular shout out to our host Aaron for being super attentive and a great host.

On Salsa tuesdays there is always a rush to the bar. Laura and Jack were great serving everyone very efficiently and always with a smile. Sadly as everyone these days pay by credit card, tips are few and far between and a lot of the punters do not appreciate the really good service. The venue upstairs is great for dancing and between 50 and 70 people turn up for the lessons. Hope this can continue forever as it is a great social gathering on a tuesday night. 5 stars for staff and venue.

My husband and I recently visited the pitcher and piano for a pre meal drink and had a great experience. We just had drinks but they where great. The location was beautiful on a cold but dry york day. The staff where great and very friendly too. Will be back.

Absolutely outstanding Christmas do here! The chef did an amazing job to serve 16 of us everything came out in good time and was hot. The brilliant service continued throughout the food was delicious and well presented. Huge well done to Carl and the rest of the chefs! Our server tended to our every need a didn't miss a beat making sure we were well looked after. 10/10 would recommend :D

We stopped for lunch and despite the staff shortages, we were well served. Kinga looked after us, she was lovely, friendly and efficient. Aaron, the other member of staff was just as helpful. We enjoyed our lunch and will go back.

Just found a review card from last week! Wanted to thank Lucy for her brill service, kindest young lady!

We went on 16th December for an early lunch/brunch and ordered cold drinks, coffees and food. It was 11:30 and still very quiet. The table was dirty and we had to ask for a cloth and spray to clean it ourselves. The food (10 tasting plates for £58) came out before the coffees, which it turns out they'd forgotten about. We started on the fish and veggie plates which were lovely, but I kept getting a whiff of something unpleasant. We had a few chicken wings which were covered in a marinade and though they tasted awful, one of our party used to work in catering and thought maybe they'd been fried in fish oil with the fish tacos. Then one of us picked up a chicken skewer and realised before it even went into her mouth it was completely rotten. None of us had ever smelt anything like this chicken and we've all worked in restaurants/bars. I took it to the kitchen and suggested to the staff member (who was wearing chef pants/jacket) she smell it, but she said she had a heavy cold and couldn't smell anything. This could explain why it left the kitchen when it was clearly rotten, though the texture when it was raw should have given it away. Five minutes later a young girl came over and asked if we would like anything in place of the chicken but at this point we just wanted a refund of the food because we understandably we didn't want to eat anything that had come out of the kitchen, we were all feeling decidedly green. Another 5 minutes later the card machine was brought over for the refund (this whole time the manager stayed nicely out the way leaving the young girl to deal with it). She said she'd return with our refund receipt. 10 minutes later she was clearly off processing other people's orders so the member of our party who had paid went over to the work station and asked for a receipt, and after some faffing was given a payment receipt for 2 cooked breakfasts. A day later the refund still hasn't come to her bank. I'm inclined to think that's something else they haven't managed to do properly. If I had to sum up this visit in three words it was shambolic, unprofessional and dangerous. I can understand people's tastes can vary and customers can be fussy on taste/seasoning. I can even understand undercooked food when a kitchen is busy but there is never be any excuse for sending out rancid meat, it's simply poor kitchen management.

I traveled to York for the Christmas markets with three of my girl friends. We headed straight to Pitcher and Piano York from the train for lunch and drinks. It was quiet when we arrived at 11.30. Sat at a table which was sticky and dirty. Asked for a wet cloth and some cleaning solution to clean the table which we did ourselves. Ordered food (mini plates) and drinks (two coffees and two cold drinks). The cold drinks were brought back from the bar with the coffee to follow. The food arrived with the coffees no where to be seen. Had to chase it up a few times before it they arrived. We tucked into the food and noticed the chicken wings tasted odd. I then picked up a chicken skewer and nearly vomited from the smell. It was clearly beyond its used by date and even after cooking smelt like death. We gave the plate to a server who commented they couldn’t smell anything as they had a cold. A female employee was sent over to us and we explained the situation and that we were not confident to eat anything else after smelling that chicken. For chicken to smell that bad cooked it must have been smelly when raw and cooking and for a chef to be okay serving that is not okay. The server said they would refund the food and went away for a card machine. We waited for a while for her to return. She then said she would come back with the refund receipt. After 10 minutes my friend went to find the server and get the receipt. She was presented with a receipt for two full English breakfasts which she pointed out to the server. She was told the receipt couldn’t be found. The refund is not shown on the card. I wouldn’t recommend this venue at all. Even the basics aren’t there in terms of service but more than that the cleanliness and basic food hygiene aren’t there and someone will end up very poorly.

Drinks and food with work colleagues , good catering and the bar staff Gabi and Chloe were really friendly and made sure everyone had a great afternoon.

Popped in not 100% sure what I wanted but jack was super attentive and gave great advice about which cocktails we should give a go. We will be making another visit soon!

The food was ok but a bit bland, if it was not for the excellent service we received from Kinga the young girl that served us then this review would not be here, she was very good at making us feel comfortable and tending to us. This girl is a great asset and i am sure with her attitude she will have a great career in whatever path she follows in life
