Sadly now run by a chain and set of accountants dictate m the menu rather than a chef. Not sure if it’s lost mmm renamed as far badger now or still lamb and lion. Food and service ok but portions sparingly measured
This place has hugely gone downhill over the past few years. The cafe has absolutely no atmosphere - no Christmas decorations, no music and no soul. Staff are not welcoming or friendly. No one told us to order at the counter so we sat for 20 mins waiting to be served. We ordered afternoon tea for two and it was very very average - thankfully we had a voucher, otherwise I would have been fuming to pay £37!! I ordered a kids toastie and asked for a few crisps with it (willing to pay) but was told this is not possible, despite adult toasties coming with crisps. The toilet was absolutely disgusting and had no soap - I mentioned this to the waiter and he said "yeah I know".
We cannot recommend this cafe highly enough! Very well set out in view of covid rules and regulations- very clean - super friendly staff and a jolly good selection of snacks/meals. Coffee really good. Toilets are on the same floor with excellent facilities.
This Big Mac experience in the heart of York was largely positive! The food was, as always, delicious 😋. I was also impressed by the cleanliness of the toilets. The security personnel were a welcome presence, making me feel safe and were also very polite and helpful with my questions. Additionally, the staff were all very helpful. The only minor downside was that the first floor was a little messy and could have used some tidying. Overall, a good visit!
Visited today and what a lovely tea room and lovely welcoming service. Came for afternoon tea and the food was delicious. Had a great selection of cakes to choose from with a nice cup of coffee. The staff were very nice and friendly with excellent quick service. Would highly recommend 😊
Doesn’t matter what you think of the policies of the owning brewery as this is an unusual, old, special pub. Yes it can get stupidly ‘rammed’ in good weather but at other times it’s a treat to visit.
The Roman Bath Pub is a great city centre pub that always a joy to drop into.
This is a really interesting looking pub,interior is superb,an island style serving bar,great decor and furnishings,tv's to enjoy the sport and plenty of seating options,the most distinctive feature of the pub is the great artwork around the walls depicting scenes of Roman life alluding to the Roman museum in the basement ,it's a proper chill out pub.
We were here on a Monday evening,pub was busy,we ordered John Smiths Brewery bitter ,served in pristine condition,we just kicked back and took in the great pub we were in.
I enjoy a good bitter,a much underrated beer style but when served iced gold as in this pub it's a totally refreshing brew.
We both really enjoyed our visit here ,only stayed for one each before we moved on.
The Roman Bath Pub is easy to locate on St Sampsons Square.
Opening hours are;
Monday to Sunday,open from 11am.
Well worth a visit if you're in the area.
I ordered 3 pizzas a few weeks ago and they never arrived. They took £30 out of my bank account, I tried calling them and emailing them but they never replied. Do not order from here.
Fabulous mojitos 😍 Next to the Hilton. Very smart. Very clean toilets. Lovely bar staff. Definitely having drinks here again before I head into the town centre.
When in York, you simply must try their yorkie wrap - a roast in a Yorkshire pudding wrap,
They have a legendary concept, though my wrap had virtually no meat. Suggest more meat for a meaty roast experience.
