Rose Within the Walls in York

Fabulous mojitos 😍 Next to the Hilton. Very smart. Very clean toilets. Lovely bar staff. Definitely having drinks here again before I head into the town centre.

Places to eat in York were busy on January 1st because many were closed but this restaurant in the Hilton by the Tower was open albeit with a limited menu. It was quiet, comfortable. staff were attentive and very helpful. The food was excellent and prepared to order. Staff were exercising all the necessary Covid standards. Excellent.

Very good selection of gins and too many to choose from although this is not a fault. Staff very good and informative on their products.

No atmosphere, rude staff. It’s all dressed up with nothing to say for itself, like someone we all know. There’s places with real atmosphere scattered around the city and within a short walk of here so ‘walk on by’ would be my recommendation.

an opportunity to create something great has been missed. This bar is well advertised but will not deliver your expectations. it is over-rated, dreadfully over priced and has zero atmosphere. no wonder it was empty!! we only tried it because it was connected to the hotel. never again.

This is listed as a Gin Bar - but early post COVID lockdown it is also the evening dining at the Hilton. We had a perfectly serviceable fish and chips, good enough that there was nothing left. Staff were very civil and cheerful (as far as one could see behind a face mask). Favourite gripe of mine - why do we need pop pulp broadcast at annoying levels? Fine for a meal if staying - we did not take it as a drinking hole so no comment there.
