Tea Palace York in York

Visited today and what a lovely tea room and lovely welcoming service. Came for afternoon tea and the food was delicious. Had a great selection of cakes to choose from with a nice cup of coffee. The staff were very nice and friendly with excellent quick service. Would highly recommend 😊

Called on here for a cup of tea after shopping and the young lady asked if we liked our tea strong, so she recommended the Builders Brew. After a couple of minutes, two heavy cast tea pots turned up that contained real tea leaves in a strainer. The tea was nice and strong and we both got at least three cups each. The food looked good too.

Went in for lunch yesterday. Nobody else in at the time but still took 45 minutes to make 2 sandwiches. No apology from staff for the wait. Extremely overpriced for very basic sandwiches that a 5 year could make in half the time. Will not be back.

My mum and I had a scone and coffee & walnut cake. Both were fresh and delicious. The staff were lovely and polite and helpful to every customer whilst we were there.

I would like to say a massive thank you to the full team at tea palace, this was booked for my grandmas 80th birthday and she visited with her friends, the staff made it very special for her, all of them were astonished at the amount of food and also with the service from staff, josh especially went the extra mile and even went to get containers for the birthday cake, grandma and friends were very impressed with the amount of food and drink on offer for the afternoon tea, the team even decorated the table. Fantastic place and fantastic people thank you again.

Very grubby and neglected on the hygiene side. Stains and smears on table and a very unclean toilet. The staff were prompt if cool. The lemon drizzle had a shocking artificiality about it, suggestive of lemon dye. Never going back.

Called here in the afternoon on a Friday. Not busy at all. A lovely big pot of tea each with plenty of milk and a 'proper' sugar bowl. Scone with jam and clotted cream was lovely. Very pleasant staff. Filled up a bit after we got in but service still very good. A bit pricey hence the 4 stars but would recommend.

Looked nice from outside but dont go in if you are in a hurry. We got a table and after a long time we finaly could order tea/coffe and scones. Wait again, and then we got our our tea ( not our scones). Wait again. We then asked the staff ( there were 4 of them) about the scone and she said it should take another 5 minutes. Not ok. Tea was fine but not enough milk to use for all the tea in the pot. Nice toilets. We won’t be going back.

Besökte Tea Palace vår sista dag i York. Här finns totalt 8 bord och plats för maximalt 28 gäster. Fyra personal jobbade och innan oss kom tre personer, sedan vårt sällskap på fyra till. Det tog 20 minuter innan vi fick beställa, efter ytterligare tjugo minuter kom vårt te och kaffe… men våra scones skulle dröja Vid fråga hur länge till meddelade man att det skulle ta minst 5-7 minuter till innan våra scones skulle komma. Vid bordet bredvid returnerade paret sina scones två gånger under tiden vi satt där. Har du all tid i världen och vill vila benen samt använda en fräsch toalett, då ska ni ta Tea och scones här!! Toaletten drog upp betyget till en tvåa! Vi lär inte återvända!

Fantastic cup of tea, great staff and customer service. However the ham sandwich that I ordered had two slices of wafer thin ham that I couldn't taste through the chutney and bread. I was really disappointed that they would charge £13 for tea and sandwiches with such a paltry portion of ham!!

We visited this restaurant on three occasions while visiting York. The milkshakes are the best we have ever had, 4 scoops of ice cream, wonderful. We had sandwiches on each visit and were pleased that the side salad came with a dressing. We feel the bad reviews may be more due to not enough staff on duty when it is busy so table clearing can become a problem. We always were welcomed on entry and our table and cutlery were both clean.

We called at the Tea Palace by chance when walking through York on a short break to the city, looking for somewhere for a light bite and cup of tea. The café is quaint and quirky, staff were very attentive and everywhere was clean and well presented. There was a large range of choice of teas that came in individual loose-leaf teapots and of good quality. The food was freshly baked and tasted delicious. We will certainly call again at the Tea Palace if in York and would highly recommend.

We were very hugry just looking for a quick stop to eat something small. Prices were very fair and the place was clean. Staff were attentive and helpful.

After passing this place a few times we finally went in We were lucky and got the final free table I don’t know if they where understaffed as the girl seemed to be on her own and very busy Although busy she still was very polite and did a great job and managed to give our dogs a treat Fantastic service lovely little place dog friendly a disabled person might find it a problem Only little fault was maybe a bit expensive

A lovely tearoom that we popped into for a drink stop. The coffee was very good and a nice spice of cake too although it wasn’t very big. We sat and watched the world go by. The staff were organised and friendly but I did feel they needed their hair tied back as serving food. I popped upstairs to the toilet. The carpet was dorty and worn out. The toilets needed updating and the door paintwork wiping.

Nice setting. We ordered a pot of tea and a scone. Took a long time for the scone to arrive (no explanation). Tea was fine but not enough milk to use all the tea in the pot. Had to wait a long long time standing...

Really good superb service, beautiful food and a very attentive waiter (the tall guy with the deep voice) a lovely quaint little place will defo be back

Cosy little tearoom, very friendly. had a huge selection of teas, i had 3 different teas from all over the world, they were all delicious! The only negative is that i didn't have enough time to try them all lol.

Visited TeaPalace with my friend for bottomless afternoon tea. The sandwiches and cakes was lovely! A great little tearoom 💜 (served a lot more food than other places Iv visited) 👀 And of course the alcohol was great too! 🤣

Thought this was a premium place. How wrong were we. Food hygiene rating is 1 so close to being shut down. It's not long been open but the decoration is awful and scruffy. Looks like it was done by the apprentice's apprentice. Carpets scruffy. Chairs...

I would not recommend this place. When my husband and I visited we waited 10 minutes to be served when the cafe was quiet. No one came to serve us so we left. This is not a customer friendly place at all.
