Well another lovely day in York with the girls - lunch at Byron was lovely however really struggled with the app - what happened to good old fashioned menus that you can read and decide - that was the only negative as staff attentive / polite and professional and the food was lovely - tasty - hot and just all round good value

We had a man server us for the majority of our bottomless brunch and a woman towards the end and they both was so so so lovely. They keep on top of your drinks and make sure everything is okay. I came here to visit my friend and we had the best time ever 100% will be back soon. We wish we could shout them out their names because they looked after us so well. One of the best bottomless brunches we have been too couldn’t recommend more.

I chose this experience after winning a bronze prize on DAYMADE. It was a nice excuse to come to York for the day. The tour and tasting experience was about 45 minutes long. We started off outside looking through the window into the factory area. So we were never actually inside the factory/production area. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. We only got to try 6 button sized pieces of chocolate but had water to help it go down. If I hadn’t of won this, its probably not something i would choose to do but not a bad experience.

I rarely post reviews on Trip Advisor (or anywhere else), but I need to call out this restaurant. It was terrific. The food was outstanding-- and my wife and I are very familiar with Indian cuisine. The service was outstanding as well. It's right outside the York walls so it had the added benefit of being a bit less touristy. Highly recommend.

AWFUL SERVICE! RUINED GRADUATION NIGHT. Went in on a Saturday night (27th July) to celebrate my sisters graduation, 7 of us. Went straight upstairs where the shisa terrace is and was told that it was all full and there was a waiting list. I asked how many people on the waiting list and was told 2 before we could be sat. The guy that spoke to us, Jamie, told us he could arrange a table inside in the meantime so we could sit and get drinks while waiting for our turn outside. So we agreed and ordered a round of drinks while waiting. 30 mins went by and when i looked round, realised multiple new groups of people have been sat at the terrace. When i confronted Jamie about it, he just apologised saying it completely slipped out of his mind. Then i spoke to the so called "supervisor" Mads and she just apologised saying "Jamie already apologised so what do you want me to do?". There was no offer for an alternative solution or other suggestion considering a group of 7 people bought drinks and waited over 30 mins to then be told "humans make mistakes". Of course we do, but, as a paying customer, I am also expecting you to fix your mistakes instead of shrugging your shoulders. Rude and clearly unable to run the place.

The restaurant as part of the hotel is in an ideal location within the shadow of York Minster. We booked a 2 course meal through Travel Zoo and we were not disappointed. The food and the service ( thank you Alison), were excellent. I can particularly recommend the smoked haddock chowder which was quite simply the best I've ever tasted! I had scampi for the main course which was lovely and the good sized portion meant that there was no room for dessert. All washed down with a really nice bottle of Pinot Grigio means that next time in York I think we'll be back.

The Exhibition is a grand old pub dating from 1702 that is situated on a very busy junction opposite Bootham Bar in York. As you enter up the steep couple of steps you are greeted by dark and atmospheric front room which is split by the central bar, it's a mish mash of Victorian and Art Deco with every single bit of wall space occupied with old photos, paintings, brasses and other Breweriana. There are wood panels, glowing yellow lighting and rich dark red ceiling which envelops you into the cosy space. There's so much to take in, especially the Art Deco stained glass panels and large fireplace, you'd almost be distracted from the offerings behind the bar. Which are not the most exciting but there's at least usually a couple of beers from Brew York, Black Sheep and Timothy Taylors, all priced at the usual City centre prices. Where The Exhibition really excels is it's outside space, if you follow your way around to the back of the bar and down a fairy light lit corridor it opens out first into a large conservator which is used for group bookings and then out into what is clearly the biggest and best Beer Garden in York! A beautifully secluded long yard with mature plants and great vintage wall art throughout. The only slight let down is the rather Victorian toilets which could probably do with a bit of an update but otherwise this is a very much overlooked pub that is superb in Summer and would be nice and welcoming inside any time of the year.

This cafe is decorated so amazing!! It's so family friendly and super instagrammable. The food is fabulous, in particular I love the rainbow bagels. It feels like such a safe and friendly space, I come with crafty pals, friends with kids/babies or to hang out and have a celebratory drink. Lovely, kind staff are always super helpful and they're incredibly allergy conscious which is very important to me as a nut allergy sufferer. Would recommend for any occasion!
