Best place in York, service is great, always attentive even on the weekend. Staff are amazing will always make cocktails ‘off’ menu. Can’t compliment them enough!

Bobos was a great night out, myself and quite a few friends came in on our night out. We were welcomed by lovely members of staff, especially George the bartender who made an amazing ‘Zombie’ cocktail. We also indulged in the 2 for 12 cocktails which were great value for money as a student myself.

Was a propper night out with the lads, staff are very nice shoutout to Jamie looked after us .

I’ve been to many shisha bars over my time….this is awful. The shisha has zero flavour, from my experience this is due to uneducated people incorrectly packing my shisha. Waste of time and £20, I smoked water vapour for 5 minutes then left.

Called for a drink on Saturday went to the ladies open the door went flying step right next to door so dangerous legs and arms killing me arm got bruises very dangerous be careful if you go in

Here for a friend's 18th and had an amazing night. Drinks were very good and affordable compared to other places in the city. Staff were amazing, nice and we and some nice chats. Service was that good we came back the next day and we will definitely be back in the future.

I walked downstairs with my messy bun. Harry styles was making out with my friend Holly. Louis Tomlinson approached, vigorously gyrated towards me. He implied and bellowed " Holly and Harry you're making out too loudly, SHHHH!" Holly, looking up from Harry's lips, whispered "Arthur, you're for sale to One Direction". Louis and Harry hit the dab in jubilation, 'Yipee! She'll do" They wrapped Arthur up like a moth ready to turn into butterfly, like a silkworm about to be boiled and turned into silk. And they bundled her out the door and rolled him, into the back of their tour bus. Food was great !

Decent cocktail menu at reasonable prices. Before 6pm on Sat they have 2 for £12 offer. The watermelon margaritas were fab.

The shisha is not prepared correctly, it tastes burnt and very harsh, when we spoke to a staff member about this, they didn’t have a clue. Staff as a whole are rude, the 2 for 1 cocktails would be great, that’s if they didn’t taste like watered down juice. Don’t bother visiting!

Revisited during December 2023. Still as bad as ever. The bar staff and doormen were more pleasant this visit, but the manager was highly volatile and inflammatory when engaging with me. Wont be visiting again and my advise is to avoid this bar. Plenty of other nice places to visit Door men who discriminate. Used to occasionally visit this place for staff parties, birthdays etc and enjoyed. My last two experiences involved being asked to leave on one occasion (no reason supplied) and then being refused entry for a 30th birthday five months later. So my advice is to avoid or be mindful of that draconian way they conduct business and that you may be asked to leave arbitrarily.

Got diluted cocktails, 2 for £12 so not bad, but nothing great. Paid in cash for table service only and took 30 minutes to get change back after repeatedly asking and ended up having to stand at the bar to get the rest of the money which is a bit odd..but not the end of the world. overall nothing bad just other places doing it better for the same price. Would still return as I like the outside area and the people are friendly.

Worst cocktails. Ordered an espresso martini and was served something that looks like dishwater for £10! Server refused to re-make, re-order or refund and said this is what an espresso martini should look like. He also said he was the manager so there was no one else to resolve the situation, so I was £10 down and left with this undrinkable attempt at a cocktail. Also made someone else in our group’s spirit and mixer with the wrong mixer, he did re-make that with the correct mixer but made a big point about it, as if he was going above and beyond by doing that. Tip - Kennedy’s is a few bars up the street, the cocktails are nicer and cheaper

I have been here before and had such a good time. This time was very different. I was refused entry because I was on my own. I have never experienced this in my life and I used to work door security in nightclubs in Newcastle. I understand the logic but discrimination is not something I take lightly. However I have to spoken to the manager in bobos and I can completely understand with their policy if it prevents things happening. I was allowed in the following day on my own (daytime) and having a great time. Thank you

terrible shisha experience. The bar tenders and waiters are super super pushy, asking if you want a drink every 2 minutes (not exaggerating) and then snatching your drinks away half full when you do have a drink? Terrible vibe and I felt like we were being forced to buy stuff the whole time we were there even though we were paying customers who paid for Shisha and a few drinks. I wouldn’t recommend.

With very little else that we knew in the area open, we stumbled into this bar and were pleasantly surprised. The cocktails were just ok but the staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly, which makes all the difference in my opinion. A nice atmosphere and very friendly prices. We would be back again.

Cocktails are okay, with some fun novelty ones, and they have the standard kind of deals for York on weekdays (the cocktails are incredibly expensive otherwise, as are the fun novelty ones which aren't part of any deal). There's an open rooftop section with heaters, which is nice enough, though it overlooks back alleys with bins, and that's all the view you're getting. Been several times but was turned away today, I suspect the hottest day of summer so far, for my casual shorts. This place's casual, mid-brow vibe does not justify that kind of dress code enforcement at all. I'm a bit curious now looking at other reviews talking about discrimination at the door, and I tend to think weird, arbitrary dress codes go hand-in-hand with that.

Went into this bar last night on a rare night in town with a few friends. We had been in about an hour when staff told me I had to leave because a woman in the bar had complained I had been staring at her. No ambiguity, this did not happen. We were a self-contained group, sat by ourselves and sober, simply talking amongst ourselves. I'm sure the bar's CCTV footage will bear this out when it is reviewed. I was completely and utterly shocked and left without issue. Having slept on it though I believe further action is appropriate because I have been left utterly embarrassed and ashamed with absolutely no justification. The doorman on duty was incredibly rude and bolshy. I hope he was wearing a body cam so I can review the incident. The bar staff, to their credit, seemed embarrassed to be asking me to leave. I'm a middle aged man who goes out incredibly rarely nowadays. After this incident I shouldn't imagine I will bother again. The hospitality trade is dying and until last night I thought this was a real shame. Now I'm not so sure.

When the bouncer trys to snap your ID you know a place is a dive, wouldnt dare spend a voucher here let alone my hard earned cash, boycott this place till they can sort out their bouncers. Like I understand you have a job to do, but if you had either scanned my QR code on my ID or just taken a UV light to it to double check you'd have seen it's a legal ID that is ENDORSED by the same people who gave you your badge.

Don't go to this so called cocktail bar if you really appreciate good cocktails. They're basically serving sugar with alcohol in nice glasses. It looks good though, I guess it would make nice selfies (for those who care about it).

Bar staff are liars!!! asked one simple question before ordering a drink to be lied straight to my face from 3 different members!

After a negative experience with a rude, aggressive bouncer this weekend I won't be going back to Bobo's. Been going years and the door staff here are usually great which is a shame.

Cocktails a little expensive but well tasting, good shisha

Waiters were poltite, however waitied 50 minutes for our drinks. The Shisha tasted awful? The waiter we had, offered to top our Shisha up with some flavour. It came back exactly the same (not his fault). Carried on waiting an extra half an hour for our drinks, the drinks were lovely when they arrived. Then after complaining twice; we got charged for the Shisha we didn't use 😂

Disgraceful bouncers and management.

Went out for our first time in York, we were celebrating my friends Hen weekend. We were buzzed but not drunk. Bouncer refused entry to the only guy in our group (who was clearly gay and was also the most sober of us all, speaking on his phone perfectly fine). They said he was “swaying all over the place” which he was not. He obviously wasn’t the right ‘sort’ for them. Kind of ruined our night. DO NOT go here if you want a LGBTQ friendly experience. Such a joke.

This place is really friendly and has great cocktails at good prices! The shisha was a good experience, had a great night here. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting York!

Has a good night bar staff were friendly, my friend had had a little too much and they refused to let us stay to finish our last drinks, tried to reason with the bouncers but they wouldn't hear us out. There main issue was he looked tired. Slightly irritating.

It is certainly right what you read about the door staff. At this point they are a city wide joke and just genuinely nasty when confronted about any of their malpractice. Good drinks though decent vibe nothing special but good memories here.

Slow, bad service. Honestly wouldn't come in here again now after this experience. I don't understand why it was so hard to get served and for York being a hospitality hotspot and when extra (£20) was paid for a shisha. I always see the best in places as I live in York, but in this case, their attitude is sincerely appalling especially on the roof terrace. I received my shisha 30 minutes after ordering it and the staff on this night were less than acceptable and unwilling to carry out their jobs with any etiquette or even a smile upon their faces. Sad to see that a good looking, well maintained place is dragged down by its staff. Unfortunately poorly managed on this evening (2nd August 2022).

The most awful experience that completely ruined my birthday. Bobo’s wouldn’t let my three friends inside at around 3pm as they weren’t sure if our party inside (that had a table and were all sat down with three spare seats) had 5 or 7 of us, so the doorman refused entry. As always with these things, we really aren’t sure why they were refused entry when we were all sober and it was the first place we visited, and they couldn’t give us a reason (other than exercising their big old power I imagine). The staff and supervisor were no help at all. Completely upset and heartbroken to have such a special occasion ruined so quickly. Won’t ever be coming here again!

Last but certainly not least was Bobos Cocktail Bar on our seriously epic pub crawl of York! By this time the previous 1000 beers and cocktails were really kicking in and I'm not ashamed to admit that I hit the dance floor hard! The vibe here is excellent and fun. Plenty of different areas to do your thing! Great party tunes long into the night. Definitely recommend if you are in York.

I've been coming to Bobo Lobos for years but early on Saturday evening, I went to walk in but I was stopped by the bouncer who asked me if I was by myself, which I confirmed I was. He then told me because of that, I am unable to enter. Given the way he spoke to me, I decided it would be best to leave. On my way back, I stopped off at Slug & Lettuce and I told him of my encounter at Bobo Lobos, he just laughed and said never, he then invited me in.

Bar staff lift full drinks from tables when approached they are cheeky and argumentative. The DJ and music was good shame about the owner and the staff.

Would give it zero stars if I could. The venue is just like any other cocktail bar nothing special. But the door staff at this place are a disgrace. Very aggressive and rude, what a joke. Save your money and go to an establishment more deserving of your custom !

The bouncers at this place are an absolute disgrace. Randomly decide who they do and don't let in. Discriminate against others if you don't fit their 'culture'. One of the worse experiences I have ever had trying to enter the bar. Avoid at all costs. The management of this place should be ashamed.

I went to this place yesterday with some friends. The bouncer let the three boys in our group in and left us girls out. When we asked why, he replied that in reality we had just met those guys (but they actually our colleagues). So we insisted that he was taking us for liars, but always very polite and without making show. He then got very irritated for no reason and told us he would let us in if we showed the ID, we didn't have the ID but we are 30 and no one has ever asked us for the document before, including bobos! In the end we called our friends and went to the next door where we had a wonderful evening. That bouncer should change jobs, very rude. By the way it was my friend's birthday and this almost ruined the evening.

Lively little venue and good atmosphere as it's chilled and not pretentious.

Great cocktails, friendly customer service and value for money. The bar has a modern and funky style but a music playlist to suit most tastes. It was also nice to have a wide selection of nonalcoholic cocktails that were good value for money and extremely tasty to boot! Nice shisha bar with table service on the roof terrace, not too overcrowded or loud which is good.

Great bar staff and venue - horrendous door staff who let the whole thing down.

Enjoyed the drinks but front door staff were extremely rude. Also refused a friend's entry because they had dark trainers on at 1500 in the afternoon, which prompted us to leave.

Really enjoyed a few drinks here. Think we timed it right getting there about 7pm on a Saturday night as it was quieter so we got a table, very busy when we left. Table service upstairs was good.

Drinks, music and bar staff are fine, but they need new door staff. As others have said the door staff are aggressive bullies. A friend got dragged out for throwing drinks (something that simply didn't happen) and when my other friend questioned it with the doorman he grabbed her by the throat and pushed her into the middle of the street. Both doorsstaff then refused to show any identification that we could use to raise a complaint. From what others have said it seems like they enjoy throwing their weight around and/or threatening people with off camera beatings regularly.

Came in on Saturday the 12th of March, enjoying a couple of drinks, when 1 of the doorman,told me an my friend we had been shouting and disprectfull to 1 of the bar staff (which we hadn't), spoke to the bar the bar staff who confined it wasn't. us , and he had got it wrong, upon leaving I had a polite word with the doorman, to say it wasn't us, and his response to that was to take my friend around the corner where there was no cameras, won't be visiting again if that's the kind of doorman that is employed there, aboustly disgusting behaviour,

Bouncers think they're something they're not - rude arrogant and jumped up, who ask for covid passes to get in lol! Don't deserve the custom. I hope this club seriously reconsiders the door staff they have working for them. Discriminating people if they haven't had a vaccine!

The venue is good, but the bouncers let the place down. They are a danger to the general public and completely unprofessional. Picked my friend out of the group and kicked him out, completely unprovoked . When my friend challenged why he had been kicked out, the overweight, roided up bouncer decided to grab him by the neck and said he would send him to the hospital. This is assault! There was no reason to result to violence. Pathetic door staff.

Lovely little bar, good prices and great staff.

Cocktails were fab and they were 2,for 1 . Played some great music too. Wasn't over busy like the other bars so managed to get a seat so this was a bonus.

The venue it self is pleasant and the staff were polite. Toilets are up three flights of stairs and narrow which isn't great when you have had a few drinks. Cocktails are reasonably priced and they do have a happy hour where it's 2 for 1 but annoyingly it must be the same cocktail. We tried 5 different cocktails at this place and only really enjoyed 1 out of the lot. The long Island ice tea here was a let down, tasted more of lemon then anything else. It's not a terrible place but at the same time it's not the best place, it's just an okay place, I would still tell people to go and try it out because everyone as different tastes.

Would only let people in with the NHS app on phone. No phone so couldn’t go in.

Discriminatory place, only allowed to be served if you have some NHS app.....avoid, one hope the business goes bust.

Disgusting service. Tried to enter and showed my covid pass on apple wallet only to be told that this isn't good enough because it needs to be shown through the NHS app which i do not have access to. Very dissapointed.

First door staff said you need covid passport or negative lft, first night me and my wife have been out following new baby, return with negative lft and passport- not enough for second short bouncer both needed passports all of a sudden, exchange then finished with him saying something derogatory about my mum, weird guy, hope this place goes out of business

Came in over the Christmas market, very friendly staff and quick service too, Shisha on the roof bar with the cocktails deal was great!
