The best restaurants in York Yorkshire and The Humber

Had dinner here on Saturday. Service was truly dreadful. Waiter friendly but service far far too slow. There were clearly not enough staff on. Food lovely when it arrived.

Wasn't that impressed with the food as it was basic and very basic. Duck pancakes were served cold for instance. Goodish value though. Excellent customer service though a little slow at times. Would eat here again but not up there with the best Chinese's I've visited.

really lovely and clean hotel, great staff and a lovely view of the museum gardens. perfect location (5 min walk through the gardens into the city centre) would recommend to anyone and would definitely go again

This is a good dining experience. The waiter's attitude is very good, and the delicious food makes me very happy.

We have had the most delicious meal, fresh food really tasty and original - Loved the chickpea Sushi and seabass crudo. Rose our server was a ray of sunshine and so helpful. Highly recommend. There is a saxophonist wandering around now - great fun.

Fantastic take away brilliant kebabs and really nice Greek salad. The fried chicken is pretty good as well 👍

Beautiful place and the food is excellent, especially the jacket potatoes.

Surprising and happy find. Looking for a curry near our bnb we cane across Woodthorpe Spice. We had the Prawn Patia and Samosas for a starter - both excellent, the prawns in particular - followed by Nawabi Lamb and Tangail Lamb. These mains were really well spiced, very tasty and highly recommended. If we lived nearby, I would work through the entire menu - everything looks good and are all so well described.

Perfect chips. Love them so much. Irish curry is gorgeous. Great staff. Hard working attentive staff. Clean. The only reason I give 4 not 5 is they come in polystyrene boxes which makes the grease pool, batter steam and is horrific for the environment (illegal since Oct 23) and the Julian Sturdy flyer. But overall fish and chips here are a brilliant choice.

All my savings go here. It's tragic. Please take it down so I can stop spending my everything there. I love it there 😭

The most astonishing takeaway, in York oh my goodness, is how kind, thoughtful, and lovely they are. I haven't seen anything like that before!
