We had planned to stay at Jorvik house. Unfortunately our 6 month baby, who was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis, had to spend the last week in hospital due to illness which meant that we could no longer stay. We asked under extenuating circumstances to move our booking to January (not to cancel it) so they would have still got our money. We offered to provide a hospital note. The hotel stood behind their cancellation policy and refused our request meaning we now lose nearly £300 and we can’t afford to book another trip for January. This is just mean and puts undue pressure on us in the run up to Christmas.

Loved staying here and would likely do it again in the future, the room was tidy and nicely decorated, with lots of options in the mini bar if we fancied it. Unfortunately there was a lot of construction work going on so it was hard to relax when we first got in as there was constant banging but it was silent through the night. When we got in at night we had a question to ask about the time for late checkout as we'd either forgotten or not been told on check in. When we approached the desk we did say hi quite loudly a few times but the elderly gentleman watching the computer screen couldn't hear us at all so we understood he may be deaf, I've deaf family so tried to speak loud and clearly but when I asked about late check in he had no idea what I was asking so we had to just leave it and go to our room. Apart from that it was a great stay 😅

My wife and I stayed at Jorvik House for one night in September 2024. It's a lovely little guesthouse in a great location. We were able to schlap from the train station, with all our luggage, in a very short and pleasant walk. It's very close to the picturesque river walk, and literally across the street from the absolutely magnificent Abbey of St Mary. We were really lucky with the weather, so walking everywhere was very enjoyable. No need for a car. The staff were really friendly and helpful. We were able to drop our luggage off early while our room was readied and we explored the city. We were up and out to grab breakfast in town next morning so we did not take advantage of the room service. Our room was up a couple flights of stairs - fun with our suitcases, but manageable - and was really clean and modern. Overall its well designed boutique style is very welcoming and comfortable. Our room had no windows (hence the 4 stars), save for a skylight (complete with remote control blind) but it was fine for one night. The room also had all modern conveniences like snack bar, fridge (with drinks, we enjoyed some wine) TV, etc. I'd certainly stay here again. York is a wonderful city. Fell in love with it the minute I stepped off the train. I can't wait to return.

Not a boutique hotel, it's a guest house at a push. Beds dipping and offering no support, no offer of a traditional breakfast & certainly not cheap. Finish not good, door sticking, asked for a room with a view, given a building site view. Angel was lovely and helpful. Perfectly located & that's it. 😞 would definately visit York again but this place needs some attention & thought.

Cosy and beautifully decorated. Perfect location directly opposite the museum gardens but away from the busy centre, so very peaceful. Lovely to walk into town through the gardens and along the river. Highly recommended for a mini-break in the beautiful city of York.

We had a great stay at the hotel. The location is great, it's pretty close to the river and on the opposite is a park Entrange. Such a great location during summer. To the city center it's not far, just the park closes at 6pm, and we had to walk around it. Which is fine, you won't lose a lot of time. The staff is very friendly. They aren't cleaning the room every day, except if you ask. I prefer a not everyday cleaning policy. No lift, so don't make your luggage too heavy.

Small, quirky and very comfortable hotel 10 minutes walk from York Minster. Large room, well equipped and a bathroom with a fantastic shower. There's no restaurant but continental breakfast can be served in the room. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Would definitely return

Really cosy, nicely decorated room with a clean en-suite. Perfect location to walk into the city of York, and not far from the train station.

The building is really beautiful, the room was lovely, the bed comfortable, and the staff very pleasant Downsides: 1. If you stay on a Wednesday, expect to hear a LOT of church bells from 7:30 - 9:00 - Bell ringing practice, and they REALLY need the practice. They were quite out of time. And tune. Admittedly, not the hotel's fault but they could have warned us 2. The rooms aren't very soundproof so if anyone in the hotel wants to drunkenly say goodnight to their friends, 54 times, at 1:30 am, you're gonna hear it every single time (they were also very loud when checking out quite early, again with 43 "See you soooon"s 3. The minibar / sideboard are both full of (expensive) alcohol which isn't great when your companion is a recovering alcoholic

The room was lovely and literally had everything you could want or need in it. We went for Mum's birthday and they arranged champagne on arrival and I also had flowers delivered to the room as well. The hotel is located in the quieter side of the town but within 5 minutes walking distance of everything. There is a car park just around the corner and for just under 24 hours it was £18. The hotel was booked by my son for a gift but I would definitely return. Staff are friendly and the communication is excellent. Highly recommend xx

Excellent location. Rooms are large and modern. They use a bit too much Dettol to clean and the front room windows could be sound proofed, but otherwise a fabulous stay.

An absolutely beautiful hotel, clearly a 4 star hotel and in my opinion borderline 5 star. Great position to the city centre and one minute walk from the river. We didn’t have a breakfast as they only offered a tray in your room. The only spoiler for me. I would definitely be returning in the future.

Lovely park, not covered in much goose poo as I had read. I enjoyed meeting up with family here today.
