Takeaway. Salt and Pepper Chicken. 10 out of 10. This was the BEST chinese food that i have ever had. It was fresh, hugely flavoursome, andna great amount of chicken. Definatley got my money's worth. I will be returning. Absolutely recommend.

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant when I was studying in York. The owner is very nice and the food tastes very good.

Very filthy place. The shop owner is super toxic. I have seen him used his dirty hands to prepare food straight after the toilet without washing hands. Some illegal immigrants too and some poor Chinese students told me they have been mistreated by the shop owner. The owner has some mental issues, too. Be careful.

Great food, cool owner, homely meal.

The food was great, wrapped up nicely with no spillage or mess, it was prepared quickly and the guy seemed nice. Encouraging to see Chinese people coming here to get food too. It's a bit messy inside though, and there is a lot of crates of soda cans and other mess taking up space in the very small waiting area. That could be improved to make it a nicer place to wait.

Very dirty filthy place Got told by the employee as she got bullied by the shop onwer saying she is illegal migrant and got paid £5 per hour cash in hand. This is disgusting! The food is horrified, if you wanna get diarrhea, please go ahead.

Very disgusting food please avoid. The chef doesn't know how to cook apparently. The worst Chinese food ever, very disappointing. There are so many choices in York, I would never come back to this shabby takeaway.

Visited China town today along with my friend, the waitress was not responding properly and the food was very late. The taste was bit good but had a bad experience the first time

The most authentic Chinese food I’ve had outside of China! If you want to experience real Chinese food then this is a must.

My first order and will not order again. Beef chow mein, the meat was terrible difficult to cut up even worse to chew. Had to chew and chew and the beef would not break down too gristly, yuk.

Unlike the previous China Town Canteen (which closed and became a Thai takeaway which then closed and became Chinese again but under new management) this is not Chinese Chinese food, it is English Chinese food. The food is perfectly acceptable and well cooked if you like that sort of thing.

10/10 - food slaps and lady gave me free prawn crackers even tho I only bought egg fried rice and soft noodles

Ordered through uber eats and unfortunately our order never turned up! Tried calling multiple times but there's never an answer! Very frustrating! Our order has been on its way for over an hour...

This takeaway has changed hands a number of times, but now it's hands down best Chinese in York! 5 of us have absolutely devoured our beautiful food. Very impressed! Well done, will be telling our friends and we will be back soon! Thank you :)

Amazing authentic Thai food. Everything was super tasty and fantastic portion sizes. I think sometimes their website says that they’re not taking orders when they actually are. So worth ringing up to check. Highly recommend trying Thai Orchid.

Excellent authentic Thai food, very delicious! I highly recommend to those who like to enjoy authentic Thai.

Ordered online, advised collection time, went to collect, after the time to find it was late... (Took just short of an hour, which I would not mind if the food was good) When I collected, on the receipt it stated that the food was ready at the correct time (foodhub receipt states order time and collection time), which it was not.... I would not say the food was authentic apart from the Pad Kraprow, which was better than ok, but not perfect. The Gai Tempura (Tempura fried chicken) was more like Chinese fast food breaded chicken. The batter was far too thick. The duck yellow curry was so-so, too much palm sugar. The rice was not jasmine rice which is a standard for any Thai meal, it was a shorter grain. Overall very disappointing, as this place is also a Chinese takeaway, It maybe that these staff are not Thai, but trying to cook Thai. I personally prefer more authentic food. Lots of good options in York, so just try another place.

Had a takeaway from here on Saturday night and it was by far the best Asian food I’ve ever had. Everything was authentic and reasonably priced will be ordering from here again.
