Homemade roasted vegetable soup with granary bread was delicious. Could have eaten a bucket full! My husband had egg/cress/black pudding sandwich and said that was fab too. Great location, fast and friendly service. Would recommend 👌🏻

Why can it be so unpalatable, super salty! I won’t eat there again in the future Taste of MSG

We booked online for a bottomless brunch. We got there early the table was set with crackers and hats to wear..we travelled from Newcastle for the Christmas market but it was cancelled with the storms..we were soaked through by the time we reached the pub. The pub was welcoming cozy and warm! Our server was Taylor and we can't praise her enough. The drinks were brought out quicker than we could drink them which from previous bottomless brunch at a different chain pub the service of the drinks was so slow, not here ! The cocktails were lovely my favourite was the green sleigh cocktail (recommend this if you like after eights) Taylor came every few minutes to check drinks and that we were all Okey. My only thing was the Nachos didn't have alot of cheese sauce etc but everything else was absolutely beautiful. We are rebooking next year for hopefully the Christmas market and another bottomless brunch. Fully recommend this pub if your in York !! Amazing !!

I live in York went into town shopping Stopped off here as we wanted a drink , come in a lot for food etc , Went inside to the bar and was told its table service only Ok not a problem but that was for outside , one problem no tables , looked inside there was plenty empty … one problem again Can only sit there if you order food I don’t know if this was because it’s Christmas Market month But what I do know is I won’t be giving you my custom in January or any other month now when trade goes quiet you need locals and tourists alike to keep your trade

10oz rump steak was delicious. Lovely cut, cooked perfectly. Quick friendly service. Would highly recommend.

Called in here shortly after arrival at the nearby Naburn Lock Caravan Park. We ordered a cajun chicken burger and a classic beef burger. The order took a while to arrive, which was surprising as the place was nearly empty, but at least we knew it was cooked fresh. The food itself was delicious and plentiful, the chips were proper thick cut homemade chips, we both struggled to clear our plates and were really satisfied with it. In summary, friendly staff and excellent food, only slight criticism was the slow service, but we would definitely return and will be recommending to family and friends.

Great afternoon tea and wonderful food. The sandwiches were a little bry The room was very well decorated. But the constant people use this area. To move laundry and housekeeping stuff, it was not relaxing the door to outside opening blasting cold air didn't help we loved the place and the tea and staff We will be back

A really nice, quaint pub just outside the city walls of York. The decor is beautiful with plenty of seating inside and out. There are plenty of drink choices and the staff are really friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend visiting here when in York! ☆☆☆☆☆

Usually a huge fan of Costa. But not layerthorpe. Hot chocolate was disappointing. Nothing to it. Staff not acknowledging anything that was said. Won't return.

Service was quick and staff pleasant. They did not come to ask if we were OK and did not offer any grated cheese for the very dry cannelloni.
