Nice to See You in York

Visité recientemente para tomar el té y pastel y nos alegramos de que lo hicimos. El té estaba bueno y el pastel era impresionante. Mi esposa tiene el pastel de queso vasco mientras yo tenía el pastel de queso pistacho. Ambos fueron excelentes. El restaurante está muy bien situado cerca del Minster, el personal es amable y la cafetería es cómoda, limpia y acogedora.

Visité York en nuestro fin de semana en Yorkshire y esto parecía un buen lugar para comer y no nos equivocamos! El personal amable y la comida era increíble. Un ambiente encantador y sin duda volveremos en nuestra próxima visita a York.

Salgo a caminar con los sabuesos después de una mañana en el río. Preciosa bienvenida y gran selección de hojas sueltas de té con un delicioso pastel! Me encantó!

Es un placer verte es un café polaco absolutamente encantador dirigido por personal muy amable y amable. Durante nuestra visita a York tuvimos ganas de alejarnos de la misma comida de siempre y probar algo diferente. Pedí las salchichas polacas y mi compañero tenía el croque madame. Las salchichas eran absolutamente inolvidables, ahumadas y carnosas con un delicioso chasquido y el pan de ajo queso y las cebollas servidas con ellos hicieron que el desayuno fuera un verdadero placer. Mi compañero describió a la madame croque como perfectamente equilibrada, supurante y deliciosa. Tomé el té Earl Grey que era muy sabroso, servido en una tetera que cómodamente permitía dos tazas y mi pareja disfrutó de una refrescante limonada de maracuyá. Los precios eran realmente razonables y tuvimos que convencernos de no ir una y otra vez porque realmente queríamos probar algunos otros lugares también, pero fue una de las estrellas brillantes de todo el viaje - enorme gracias por el personal que dirige este lugar y trabajar tan duro para asegurarse de que el cliente se vaya feliz y bien alimentado!

Mi hermana y yo nos alojamos en York durante dos semanas y nuestro apartamento estaba a la vuelta de la esquina de este pequeño café encantador. Rápidamente nos convertimos en "habituales. " Los huevos escalfados con salmón en tostadas de aguacate los hice cada vez porque era así de bueno: un frotis de rábano picante y un chorrito de algún tipo de condimento mágico con pimienta lo hicieron increíble. Mi hermana probó varios artículos diferentes de desayuno / almuerzo y cada uno era delicioso. Sin embargo, su favorito fue el pastel de chocolate, que dijo que era el mejor pastel de chocolate que ha tenido (y viniendo de ella eso es muy elogioso de hecho. ) Pasé unas cuantas veces a recoger croissants para volver al piso y también estaban deliciosos. Muy bonito lugar, personal maravilloso, y precios estupendos. Recomiendo encarecidamente este café!

Lovely cafe that is pet friendly and has very nice coffee The food and cake all look really good, very clean inside and very helpful staff

The nice looking place across the road was closing so stopped here instead looking for a cake and a drink. We ordered soft drinks which were nice enough, skipped the cake as they were predominantly mass produced-not particularly tasty looking, and there was only one vegan option for the vegan in the group. The cafe is nice enough but in need of some attention, lots of lights out, the table was sticky and the bathroom filthy. Wouldn’t come again.

If you’re in the city and have your little ones with you but you’re belly is telling you it’s breakfast time then this is your place. A good array of tasty options and a play area where your kids can happily play whilst you enjoy your coffee and eggs. The staff are super lovely. Enjoy!

Visited on a really busy Sunday afternoon at the end of November.Had to wait a short time for a table but staff were incredibly efficient & polite considering how busy they were.The hot chocolates are outstanding as are the cakes. Delicious and well priced.Will definitely visit again.

My wife Margaret and I visited your restaurant on Goodramgate on Saturday. Although very busy your staff found time to find us a table and offer us quick service. The staff clearly are a close working friendly team and it shows. Nothing too much trouble for them. The range of food and quality was second to none. Definitely will become regular customers- they all work so hard and polite and go out of their way to remember and deliver your orders all at the right time. The value is very good. If you got little ones and fancy a sit in coffee and possibly a bite to eat too then this is your place in York city centre. Ask to be seated at the back, which has an adjacent play area for kids with books, toys, play kitchen and drawing equipment. Leaving you free to eat, drink and observe. Mine loved his very own babycino too. Top tip: the kids pancakes with banana and maple syrup is definitely substantial enough for your kid and you to share.

1st time I came here I got take away and it was great; polite staff, good price, tasty food/drink. This visit we decided to eat in. I don't think I'll repeat the experience. Ordered tea and the cup was dirty (hadn't come out of the machine completely clean- which happens from time to time). I asked a member of staff if I could get a replacement cup. He took the cup and wiped it with a sponge that was on the side behind the counter and returned the cup to me. It was dirtier than it had been before. As a result I had a pot of tea but nothing to drink it with. I paid and left thirsty, don't think I'd eat in again.

Popped in for a pot of tea and some scones. They were the biggest & nicest scones I've had for ages & not bad price for a city centre cafe.

great cafe. we were there with the family for lunch. the food was very good, fresh products, fresh fruit, delicious coffee and the best cheesecake I've had in my life :) we will definitely come back there often! I highly recommend this cafe !!!

We each had a delicious Croque Madame for lunch and it was so filling that we didn’t have room for a meal that evening! The ingredients were top quality and we felt they were excellent value. There was a great atmosphere there - partly because the staff were so lovely - and we’ll definitely go back there next time we visit York.

Excellent food, more than enough for your money. Very good quality and excellent service. Well worth a visit, can't recommend it enough.

Stopped here for cheeky late afternoon drinks and cakes as the cakes in the window were too tempting to pass by! They have a good selection of True Tea available (a Harrogate company) and all the other usual drinks. Plenty of cakes/scones on offer. The Oreo and the honey and cinnamon cheesecakes were one of the best cheesecakes we’d ever had. Totally amazing!!!

I visited the cafe today thinking we didn't really know where to go I was with my mum and daughter who is 2 1/2. So we went in as it was going to rain and I'm so glad we did. The food was lovely and the coffee was amazing too!! The best bit was it was so good for my daughter great little play area with a kitchen and lots of toys the menu was simple but was enough. It was great how much they thought about the children. I will 100% return.

I went here on a recommendation yesterday but they were closing up an hour earlier than they advertise. I found somewhere else but you may want to ring ahead to check they’re open if you’re planning a visit.

As wonderful as York is it’s not always easy to find somewhere to sit down in groups of 4 or more when it’s busy. We were very fortunate to pass this place at the right time.Service was very pleasant and there was a large selection of drinks as well as a huge selection of cakes, scones and other light bites. The cakes were all on display and I opted for a salted caramel and chocolate fudge cake - I didn’t really look at anything else after seeing it!We all enjoyed the variety of cakes, coffees, hot chocolate and tea as we relaxed in the pleasant surroundings.

We are on holiday and after walking around the Minster we decided we needed a coffee. After looking around, we spotted Nice to see you, what a great name! It looked good, especially the cakes. I also spotted the proper coffee machine, one of those you find in places which make proper, real coffees. We got inside and sat at a table near the counter. We ordered coffees and cakes. I had the Pumpkin spiced latte and my partner a flat white. He had the cranberry and orange scone where I had the cinnamon cheesecake. What can I say? Apart from the logic it was delicious, but not only that, it was fascinating to watch the team work. They just don't stop running, all the time. They are super efficient and lovely. What else do you need? Just go there and try their amazing food. Not only the sweets but the savory too.

Just to thank all staff involved yesterday especially Patrycja for making my daughter’s Baby Shower a success. The food was excellent and so well presented, especially the personalised cupcakes.Nothing was too much trouble, a very friendly vibe.This is my go-to cafe when in York.

We called in here for some takeaway cake which was delicious.So went back for breakfast the following day… amazing. I had the Croque Monsieur which I would recommend.My only disappointment is that we don’t have time to go again before we leave.In respect to cakes I would highly recommend the millionaire shortbread and any of the amazing cheesecakes. Lovely roomy layout and friendly service make this cafe a must visit.

On Monday the day of the end of lockdown, we visited Nice to See You which fortunately is back and is just as good as before. The soups and so tasty. On Monday I had the Tomato soup with Parmesan which was thick, tasty and so nourishing. But my friends selected the leek and potato soup which was also very tasty. So today I went back and had the leek and potato, which was excellent and the basque cheesecake with an oat milk flat white. Thank you, both top quality.

I've been here a few times and the staff are great. The cafe is lovely and cosy with plenty of tables. Service is fast too.

A wonderful, modern coffee shop. Excellent service and delicious food. So good we went twice ! We had coffee and cake on our first visit and lunch the second time. All very well prepared, very friendly staff and food is attractive and delicious. I would highly recommend the pancake stack mmmm. We will definitely come again!

Pedimos tortitas y fueron excelentes.No me puedo quejar de nada. El lugar estaba impecablemente limpio y nos pidieron nuestra información de seguimiento y rastreo que se ingresa directamente en la caja / computadora para que sea segura, a diferencia de los lugares que la escribieron en un papel.

We had a goat's cheese sandwich and a croque Madame: very generous portions and delicious. The prices were very reasonable compared to other cafes in York. The service was also excellent and everything was Covid secure. We highly recommend this cafe and will definitely revisit.

A really nice cafe for lunch or coffee and cake. Cheesecakes looked amazing but too full with a delicious croque madame to be able to sample the selection. Excellent service and friendly, helpful staff.

Estábamos en York con amigos y nos topamos con este lugar a la hora del almuerzo. La ciudad estaba bastante vacía en comparación con lo que esperábamos, así que no tuvimos problemas para conseguir una mesa. El personal era amable y los precios competitivos. Podemos recomendar el Croque Madame, sabroso y contundente, acompañado de un batido (todo lo cual nos devolvió a nuestros días de infancia, lo cual no es malo en estos tiempos de prueba actuales).

Comida encantadora y personal amable, PERO estaba embestida. Por lo que pude ver, las mesas estaban dispuestas de forma normal con muy poco distanciamiento social. Solo la puerta principal estaba abierta para ventilación y el personal no usaba ningún equipo de protección personal. No se puso en marcha ningún rastro. Mi amigo y yo pagamos y nos fuimos rápidamente porque no nos sentíamos cómodos ni seguros. Los exhibidores de comida estaban abiertos y no cubiertos. Haciendo cola dentro de la tienda para llevar también. Mal organizado en el clima actual.

Quality well cooked food, absolutely gorgeous. This was nicer than the evening meal we had had the previous evening at a restaurant. Well worth treating yourself here.

Large and bright restaurant/ cafe. Very popular amongst young families when we attended. Good choices and nice coffee. Certainly worth considering when in this part of york

We visited for lunch on a busy Saturday afternoon. The place was very busy but we got a table and we were served quickly. I had a sandwich from the specials board and the other half had a croque Madame which he tells me was delicious. We then had a generous piece of cheesecake each, which in hindsight we should have shared Loved the place so much that we nipped in for coffee a day later before heading home.

Tried to eat here twice prior, finally managed on the third try. Had pretty big expectations, but they weren’t lived up to unfortunately. Their pumpkin spiced latte was lovely, however poached eggs on sourdough were cold, overcooked and just lacking in any flavour. Which when equating to a £10, just wasn’t really worth it. The Italian opposite Bottega is better I think for breakfast/lunch, with a really flavoursome poached eggs etc. Nice but wouldn’t return.

I always ask if it’s ok just to have a drink, and yes it was. The lovely lady serving was very friendly, other people eating had amazing looking food, I just wish we’d have been hungry 😋 Will definitely return on future visits

Really smart, modern coffee shop. Lots of tables in a bright environment. The Roost artisan coffee is fresh and well made and the cakes are delicious. Try it if you're in the area.

Pricey but good brunch and one for the gram. It was super tasty and the service was nice. Loads of good choices. Also a great selection of cakes and baked items which made it so difficult to decide! Definitely one to try if you’re looking for a brunch spot in York.

Passing by and got drawn in by the massive scones. Excellent value with cream and jam at £3.25 for York city centre. Pleasant surroundings and friendly staff so will definitely pop back

Lovely lunch. Seated without delay. At first sight the menu is quite limited, but we each found something to enjoy. Price-wise, not cheap, but reasonable for the quality. Very popular eatery. Cakes looked terrific and the coffee was great. Two words: French toast.AMAZING. Warm Brioche with cream and caramelised apple pieces. I’d go back this afternoon for more if I wasn’t busy.They also put fresh banana slices in the hot chocolate which tasted awesome too. My girlfriend had avocado on toast. Looked good! Good vegetarian menu as well as bacon and sausages. The homemade cakes in the window looked lovely also. Good value for money. I’d come back !

During a 3 night break, we ended up coming here 3 times in total, my partner had the chocolate cheesecake 3 times, poached eggs on toast twice and I enjoyed the orange & cranberry scone, a croissant and loose leaf tea, it was our favourite place for morning coffee / tea before starting our day of sight seeing, Many Thanks.

Stumbled upon this gem amidst the onslaught of York beverage establishments. Great cake - honey and cinnamon cheesecake and a coffee and orange layer cake. Lovely authentic flavours - we could taste the care and skill of the cook, which made for a happy eat.

We had a late breakfast here and really enjoyed the food and service. The pancakes were fantastic and the coffee very good too. The choice of cakes in the window and by the counter is varied with pastries, tray bakes and gateaux. Lovely place

Hi there fellow Trip Advisors - Dan came to York to visit his mammy today - looking for refreshment we came across this place and we were impressed- a nice welcome by the staff - sit where you like and table service. We enjoyed a tea and lovely large tea cake at a reasonable price. A nice menu as well for the more hungry - but also fine for just a cup of coffee. We would think this place is fine for disabled people including toilets- can recommend x

This was by far the best coffee we found in our ling weekend in York. The staff were really knowledgable about allergies, and bent over backwards to help cater for my milk and nut allergic child. Cheesecakes were amazing!

Really friendly staff in a very nicely appointed cafe. We had the avocado on sourdough with bacon and egg and a cranberry scone and shared them between myself and husband. Very generous portions and very good quality food. My husband is pretty picky about his coffee (grinding and blending various types of beans) and he thought the coffee delicious - as did I. We noticed that it is supplied by a local roaster and clearly a lot of care has gone into its selection. We enjoyed it so much that we went back again and repeated our order. I also mark them highly for bringing a decanter of tap water and glasses to the table without being asked.

Ducked in here during a bad rain storm with a friend and her dog for lunch (drawn in by the delicious-looking cakes in the window). Waitress who greeted us was very nice! We sat down and ordered two grilled chicken sandwiches from the specials board, as well as a tea for my friend and a hot chocolate for me.

Ok ambience and quite good mild coffee but cakes rather pricey and dry-tasting, so overall not as good as we hoped it might be

Stopped here yesterday, we all had something different, the lemon loaf cake according to my 8 year old was the best ever, 3 of the others had bacon and cheese toastie which were thoroughly enjoyed. Not the cheapest place to eat but you get what you pay for. Would definitely go back.

We passed the window with the cakes. Very attractive and appealing. So we popped in on our way way back from the city tour. We had coffee and cakes. They looked really great but I was still a bit disappointed by the taste, expected them to be more moisture. Also coffee could be slightly better in taste - so no 5 star but good 4.

We called in for lunch after shopping in York. Very pleasant staff who were helpful when asked about the menu. Food was very tasty. Pots of tea were a little on the small side for Yorkshire people.

We decided to give this place a try as it has not been open that long. We met family and decided on coffee and cheesecake. Three of us had the white chocolate cheesecake and the other person had the Oreo cheesecake. The pieces that arrived were enormous but tasted amazing. Service was very friendly and not too slow seeing as it was very busy. The other cakes on offer also looked good!! Will definitely be going back.

Called in for a mid afternoon cuppa and cake and we loved both! We had the winter tea, non alcoholic mulled wine, pistachio banana bread and the oreo cheesecake. All fab, especially the cheesecake, best ever!

My girlfriend and I decided to find a cosy little café to stop for our first lunch in York and we decided on Nice to See You... we made the right choice! The customer service as soon as we walked in was second to none and the food was beautiful! The portions were bigger than we predicted too, which is always good!

Visited this cafe a few times and loved it every time, very friendly staff and delicious fresh food, but still affordable my new favourite coffee shop in York!

Stumbled across this place on a busy Saturday... Even busier for the surprise sunshine.

Myself and my husband visited this cafe. The food and cakes looked lovely in the window. We went in and it was very busy, which is great! We were told to take a seat, given a menu and they'd take our order. It was clear they were under staffed. After 20 minutes I went to the till to order our drinks, to be told to sit back down and someone will come. After another 10 minutes, our order was taken. It took approx anthoer 10mins for the items to come. The hot choc and cake was delicious actually, but the wait and service was appalling. There was no interaction from the staff to us, no apologies, no asking if we enjoyed our food/drinks. Such as shame for them, as there are so many other cafes to pick in York instead.

Modern cafe, catering for vegetarians and vegans alike. Food was ok, no skimmed or semi skimmed milk for coffees, which i thought was a little strange for a modern 'healthy' style cafe, but did serve alternative dairy free milk, almond, coconut and soya, ok if you like that sort of thing.

We called in here recently for a coffee and slice of banana bread, the staff here were really friendly and helpful. The banana bread wasn’t so good, but the coffee made up for it, one of the best tasting latte’s I’ve had.

We dropped in here by chance to get out of the January cold and have a bite for brunch. Ordered the Croque Madame which was absolutely AMAZING (especially the egg). Decent size portion. Other half enjoyed her Avocado Toast, bacon and eggs and winter tea aswell. Would definitely return (maybe tomorrow)

Fell into this place when walking round town on a cold day. Looked full at first, but then spotted a table towards the back, ad realised the place is far bigger than it looks from the street. Agree with another reviewer that it wasn't clear how to order. We picked up a menu form the counter and then a waitress said she would come and take our order, which she did (you can always open your mouth and ask!). I drink coffee only occasionally and often find it can be presented a bit lukewarm, but my cappuccino was hot, and the cakes were good. Would return.

Just called for a quick coffee and hot chocolate while shopping. Flat white was great and wife had lovely chocolatey hot chocolate. Cakes all looked amazing, we opted to share chocolate cake with raspberry and rhubarb cream. So good. Cake itself was a little fudgey and brownie like and the fondant cream was sweet and tart, perfect. Will definitely return.

My wife dumped me off here as a man-creche so she could wander round shops. Entered this busy cafe with waitresses and picked one of two tables left unoccupied. Couldn't see any indication of how the place worked - order at counter? Order at table? - so settled back to wait while reading my book.

Spent a day in York today with my wife and 2 boys,we stumbled across this cafe around lunchtime and were so pleased we did,the food,service and staff were all top notch,both our sons enjoyed the pulled pork dumplings which were devine,myself and the mrs had the bacon,Brie,asparagus,cranberry sandwiches on the sour dough bread which were lovely,really recommend this place

As an initial impression, the cafe was nice, food tasty and has a good children's corner. However, my daughter has a number of allergies, notably dairy. We informed the waiting staff and double checked about the items we ordered a number of times. It turned out that instead of a babyccino - effectively steamed Soya milk, we were brought something containing a dairy based chocolate powder, which was only apparent once the soya foam had cleared from the surface of the drink (picture below). Moments later our daughter vomited everywhere and her face was covered in hives. Waiting staff seemed largely clueless and didn't seem to appreciate the severity of having an allergy. They were also unhelpful, we cleared up the vomit with no assistance, a nearby table were far more helpful in providing baby wipes and offers to help. Finally, when we went to pay the parting comment from the staff was "oh sorry, we won't charge you for the babyccino".

All the staff we spoke to were lovely, smiley and chatty and really made our day! We had soups and hot chocolates which were delicious and good value. We also had a couple of cakes to take away, and WOW the honey and cinnamon cheesecake was good. We'll definitely be coming back some time soon!

We visited this little gem twice for lunch. Modern, bright and amazing food. The welcome was warm and friendly. Cakes amazing as was the delicious home made soup with sour dough bread. Clean and clearly a hit with both locals and visitors.

Visited today with my three children. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The Hot chocolate was the best (according to the twins, and their research has been extensive!). Excellent coffee. Lovely space. Thank you for making us feel so welcome.

I always look for small, local business owners with passion, because then I can enjoy not only the quality of food, but also amazing atmosphere. That place proves that my strategy is good :)

Came here with family and friends, for coffee and brunch. I also had my 3yr old with me. The cafe has been decorated simply but effectively, feels light and airy but also comfortable. Service was quick, the coffee and food lovely. There is a brilliant child area at the back with tables and toys etc which was just perfect to let my little one play so as not to disturb others in the shop. Early opening times too which is also fab. Will definitely be back soon as the cakes look amazing!!
