Gorgeous little find with good service, cosy atmosphere and great range of continental beers.

Had a lovely day/night out in York for my friend's birthday on Saturday 18th May 2024. Was told good things about this place, so went to visit. They wouldn't even serve us, they claimed we were too drunk and we weren't welcome. We weren't drunk, we walked in respectfully and politely ordered our drinks. We weren't talking loud, and I had politely asked if I could borrow a chair from another table, which the people of the table were fine with. I think the barman just didn't like the look of me, my wife and the birthday boy. The birthday boy has stubble and long hair and can look intimidating at times, but he's a top guy. I'm a big man with a beard, who always wears a flat cap (which I took off when I came in) and Heavy Metal or Wrestling T-shirts. My wife was wearing heavy metal clothing too. I felt it was discrimination, which Is sad, cause we were looking forward to trying this place out. But if you're gonna be discriminatory in this day and age, just because we don't look like your usual punters, then forget this place. I will never return, and I will never recommend to anyone. Never come here if you don't want to be discriminated.

Really good bar, different to the norm, smart mix of old and new, stylish to boot. Enjoyed a glass of Delirium Tremens on tap, not seen it in the UK before. Lovely lady served us. Window seat with a great view

Well, well, well....how do I describe this bar ...Quirky, European feel .....are the first words that spring to mind…..it’s in my view a unique York Bar…and for those that follow me....you'll know I am not normally short on words....so bear with me ...here goes...atmosphere a very easy five star....it's got local regulars 'in the know' and savvy switched on tourists...it just feels so laid back...nice selection of Belgium and German beers,...the hosts are very nice, friendly and informative ….well worth a visit….can get very busy indeed….I hope this helps ...👍💯👍

Just the best spot in York for an intimate drink. Amazing selection of drinks, ran by a couple who cannot do enough to help, and a barman who truly knows his beers and cocktails. Only open at the weekend, but drop in for a drink if you can - not something you will regret!

Lovely place, really relaxed classy atmosphere, staff/owners were nice too, stopped in for a muled wine, best ive tasted. Will definatly visit again.

Vistied on a whim. Absolute rip off. £7.80 for a pint of 5% regular draught beer. Wish I'd have walked out when I was told the price. Really rude, dismissive service too. Please avoid this con artist establishment. There are so many awesome pubs to go to in York that don't rip you off. I know to avoid this place now!

I’m giving three stars for the selection of beers. This is the second time I’ve been here. The first time I found the owner to be rude. Nothings changed there. Draft beers are hugely over priced. I regularly go to specialist beer bars and don’t get ripped off like this. I swear the guy just makes the prices up for each customer. I went to use the toilet and changed my mind.

I mean, they have Kwak on draft. So, yeh 5 stars. Expect to pay extra for those tasty imported beers however (£15 for 2 pints). On the downside, it’s not super easy to order an actual pint. The bar area is small, with people sat on stools. You have to kind of “find” the bartender behind all the busyness. Adds to the quirkiness I guess. But I can imagine some people would get annoyed.

Expensive, unfriendly, rude, judgemental, liars. After waiting at least 15 minutes for service, my friend was told by the bartender they don’t accept groups when there was only 4 of us. There were groups of 5+ in there at the time, one of these groups harassed us as we were peacefully leaving the premises for absolutely no reason. As a local there are much friendlier and nicer places in York. Do not recommend unless you like being judged.

Lovely little bar in the heart of York serving some brilliant German and Belgian beer on draught. A particular highlight being Paulaner Hells Lager on the tap - quite unusual to see and very delicious. The friendly owner was happy to give me a few bits of Paulaner merchandise too. Highly recommended!

Lovely place inside. Definitely on the pricey side so only stayed for one beer. Mens toilets were an absolute disgrace compared to the effort gone I to the rest of the bar.

Lovely little bar close to the minister..... read minister views for those of you who are there early. Sure it’s a little more expensive than some places but the view is worth paying for alone!!

We love this place normally. Great for a spot to watch the world go by and with a terrific view of the minster. However, £7 for a pint of IPA? I would like to be warned in advance if I chose a beer that expensive. They have a huge range of Belgian beers but you could expect them to be pricey. Keg IPA not so much!

Looking for good German and Belgian beers, look no further, not a bad gin selection either. Great little place, a stone's throw from the Minster. Lovely staff. The downsides and the 4* review is down to 3 things, a ramshackle of handwritten signs that cheapen the place from the outside, awful male toilets located in a shed with no lock, your better off heading across the road for your number 2..... Access to the bar.... Little can be done sadly but on a busy night, I would turn heal and exit, from the locals literally blocking the whole bar, to being 4 or 5 deep with punters, the waiting would kill you. Fortunately I have taken a liking to the place and at the right time it's perfect. If your like me and love a cosy beer, go check it out!

The gentleman at arm's the pub is very helpful it's a nice little pub to have a quiet drink or a coffee during the day we can get busy in the night time.x

This is an excellent place for a quiet drink end the range of spirits is excellent. Try a chocolate martini awesome....

A rare fine for people that want a more refined friendly bar experience than the local pubs. Quality drinks served in polished glasses.. Good vibe. We love it.

Love this bar to bits! Fantastic place to have a pint and chat to the locals. Brilliant selection of gin and fantastic draught beers. Must do when visiting York just before a Ghost Walk.
