Have been to Chimes before on visits to Ripon and always enjoy it. The owner is a really nice man who was rushing around but always makes you feel welcome. Best ham salad sandwich with salad and crisps I've had in ages. Owner told me off for putting too much salt on my food (like my husband at home) but all very good humoured. Lovely spotless quaint and pretty tea room. Looking forward to going back in the New Year and will be taking some of the gorgeous scones home with me too.

Fabulous cafe with friendly staff, a lovely atmosphere and really tasty food. Lots of options, including vegetarian, vegan and gluten free. Everything is made fresh and it really shows in the taste. Dog friendly as well, which is always a bonus. Will come back for sure!

Visited Ripon and The Yorkshire Tearoom, cannot recommend this place enough. I had the chicken curry with rice followed by apple and plum crumble with custard. Jill had a bacon and brie ciabatta melt followed ice cream strawberries and squirty cream, absolutely delicious. Good portions and value for money, Warm welcome with great customer service and fantastic place to visit and eat. Thank you again Yorkshire.

A wonderful find. Spotlessly clean, very good range of food priced appropriately. The spinach, spiced cauliflower & lentil pie was delicious. Staff cheerful and friendly. Lovely original decor with good attention to detail ( there were scissors provided at the table to cut the individual condiment satchets).

The restaurant itself is a nice, cosy place, a bit crowded, a bit noisy. All staff members kind and helpful, quick to respond. I recomend it for a quick dinner, families or friend groups, maybe not the best for couples, but this is only my opinion. We were pleased with the tagliatelle carbonara, it was good and tasty. However, the lasagne disappointed us. It should be based on pasta layers, with tomato and meat, covered with cheese. We recieved a huge bowl tomato soup-lookalike thing, with cheese melted on the top of it.The pea leaves an interesting but not authentic extra as vell. Try to fix that,or call it something else please.

Once again a large group of us enjoyed New Year's Eve in Mario's Restaurant. As usual, we could not have wished for a more enjoyable evening. The food was excellent and the service was great even though the restaurant was so busy. I would recommend you give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

We had booked a table for 6.00pm prior to attending a concert in Ripon Cathedral. We arrived bang on time. After more than 10 minutes sitting at a table that we were indicated to use in an offhand manner, we had neither been given a menu or the opportunity to order a drink, let alone be served one. The restaurant was busy, but the front of house gentleman appeared to be in a little world of his own. We simply got up and left, our leaving was not noticed. We went to The Royal Oak, also busy, where the food was decent and the service superb.
