Fabulous cafe with friendly staff, a lovely atmosphere and really tasty food. Lots of options, including vegetarian, vegan and gluten free. Everything is made fresh and it really shows in the taste. Dog friendly as well, which is always a bonus. Will come back for sure!

Craving egg and chips, I was enticed by the posted menu into Wilfrid’s for breakfast. We were cheerily greeted like old friends and treated like valued customers. The egg and chips were perfect, and we went away with full stomachs and smiles on our faces.

We visited on Saturday and the lady who served us was lovely and very welcoming. It was great that vegan and gluten free options were advertised. My friend had the coronation chicken sandwich and said it was one of the best they’ve ever had!

Had a lovely and very tasty festive lunch time meal, staff were very friendly and welcoming. Very good Covid safe measures.

I poped in for a coffee at this cafe last week and was delighted with the friendly, personal service. The coffee was good too !

We called here on a Sunday last month. Although it was only half an hour to closing the staff were lovely and sorted us out with some tasty sandwiches and hot chips. Everything was very clean the tables were well-distanced. Lovely poster in the toilets about taking care of our mental health in these times was a caring touch.

Three of us called in here for lunch on a Saturday. Right from the start you can see the staff are very conscious of their responsibilities regarding corona virus. As we sat down we were told the table had just been cleaned and sterilized - which is very reassuring. Our meals were well presented and delicious to eat. I opted for a bacon sandwich, which had plenty of juicy bacon in it, and for dessert I had the lemon pudding with custard. The staff must be aware of the law (my law) that states all desserts must be served with custard. The staff are very meticulous in their hygiene routine. They came across as being very friendly and courteous. Give this place a try - you won't be disappointed.

A very friendly cafe with good, tasty food. Just round the corner from St Wilfrids. A lovely area to walk around. The owners have taken the Covid restrictions seriously with a sign in book and gel and wipes for the customers' use.

Fantastic late lunch followed by coffee and cake for 5 of us. Good choice of drinks, fab menu and wonderful cakes and puddings too. This was our first visit and based on this experience we will definitely be back. As we had such a large group we were sat in the snug, which made it even lovelier. Friendly staff and excellent service.

First visit to Ripon for quite a while. Up near the Minster and looking for a spot of lunch called in here. Got last table available. Prompt friendly service, both of us had cottage pie and peas. Really tasty meal, inexpensive. Recommended.

There are many places in Ripon where you can find lunch, but during these Covid times would you want to squeeze into a pub without booking a table and trust that the regulations were being followed? Of course you dont!Joan and I have eaten here once or twice before and found it very pleasant. Today they excelled. The food was great, clearly cooked to order, the whole place was spotless, wipes provided on every table, and the staff were just lovely. The young waitresses was an absolute star - give her a bonus!!pYes, we would return another time in the future and would thoroughly recommend to anyone.

We viisted Ripon for the first time and used Trip Advisor to find somewhere to have a spot of lunch, we had a look at Wilfreds and met Wendy the Scottish lady I had the cottage pie, it was lovely and hot and tasty Wendy was a very good front of house, would go back again in the future

What a great, beautifully decorated cafe in the centre of Ripon, just along from the Cathedral. Brilliant menu offering an excellent selection of GF, vegan, vegetarian and traditional meat meals. A children’s menu is also available. The desserts are delightful, and a good range of coffees and tea are offered. The proprietor was very friendly and offered lots of local information.

Fresh scones, cream & jam. A large pot of tea with extra hot water (just as it should be).Lovely friendly staff. The menu looks great and we hope to come back to sample it soon.

We visited on Saturday with friends and our puppy. Really friendly staff. Lots of room for our pooch to get comfy out of the way of others. Our friend is dairy free and was given a wide choice. All our food was lovely, coffee was tasty too. We will definitely make this our regular haunt.

Called in with our pooch on a Saturday lunch time. Lovely spot, great menu - all very reasonably priced. I had the lasagne chips and salad, partner had sweet chilli chicken wrap. We both very much enjoyed. Great girls serving, definitely recommend.

Lovely café with accommodating, friendly staff which is reflected in its atmosphere. We stopped by for a coffee and a cake on a whim whilst strolling by and were pleasantly surprised by this little gem. I would 100% recommend to anyone in Ripon.

In a change to my usual haunt for breakfast when I visit Ripon, I had a Yorkshire Breakfast from Wilfrid's this week, minus the egg and mushrooms, and with added black pudding.

We had lovely fresh sandwiches and panini’s here for lunch, good that they all came with salad too. Tasty and fresh and very reasonably priced. Great that’s Wilfrid’s is dog friendly too

À typical English tea shop. Nice to see that the tea comes with a separate jug of hot water. Staff friendly, rather reliant on school kids. Hot food good, such a breaded fish and a steak pie (rather an anaemia sauce), good value. The posh cordials were also reasonably priced and fantastic.

Just across from the cathedral well worth a visit. Lovely cup of tea and fruit infused chai lattes. Friendly staff very welcoming. Well worth a visit don't think you'll be disappointed. Very reasonably priced.

Just called in for a coffee and bacon/ egg bap. Service so friendly and plenty of bacon cooked exactly how I liked it. Looked at the menu for lunch and it looked delicious.

We received a warm welcome on a cold day. A good selection of baked potatoes, panini and sandwiches. Our dog was recognised on a return visit and so received a special welcome.

This is our 5th time and we keep coming back for friendly service. Excellent food and great value. Bring on next time

Visited Wilfrid’s on a recent visit to Ripon with our dog. Superb service, very dog friendly. Lots of choices on the menu.

Travelled to Ripon for Remembrance event. Due to distance we had to travel didn't have chance to get breakfast at home. Called in on the off chance. The service was great. Yorkshire breakfast good quality ingredients. Couldn't fault it. Will definitely be back when in the area.

We have visited for multiple times for both lunch and coffee/cake. We have always been impressed by the quality, value and service.

Found this gem when we visited Ripon. A warm welcome and a haven from the dark, cold drizzly day. Although we went in for an early lunch we were in time to order breakast and we were not disappointed, it was plentiful and delicious. Menu was substantial, alcohol available and it was also dog friendly.

Have loved breakfast at Wilfred's in its original home in Duck Hill and now in Kirkgate. Always delicious. Friendly service. Excellent coffee. What's not to love? Warmly recommend.

We have been a few times now for an early breakfast and have to say each time it's been delicious and can not find fault at all.

Never visited this cafe before so thought we would give it a go and we weren’t disappointed, we chose the sweet chilli chicken wrap which came with chips and side salad, it was delicious and well presented, the staff were very polite and the cafe was lovely and clean, we enjoyed it so much we went back the next day for Bacon sarnies & sausage sarnies, they definitely fill the bread bun, again delicious food,

MY family and I had Brunch here today. The staff are friendly,helpful,attentive and hard working. The café was spotlessly clean and the food was freshly served and very tasty.

From outside the cafe looks small but it's very decieving , the food is amazing , the cafe is clean and the staff are so friendly, you will want to stay .

Visited Wifrids today for lunch after a delightful walk around Ripon. It was very busy but we managed to get a table in the cute snug area.

In Ripon today for the Arts Exhibition in the Cathedral. Discovered Wilfred’s by chance, and what a wonderful surprise. Have become an unofficial sampler of coffee and scones, and the home made scones here are wonderful. The atmosphere in the cafe is comfortable, clean and lovely. Staff friendly and helpful, couldn’t be better. Menu looked great too, and as we intend visiting the three museums in Ripon, will be taking lunch at Wilfred’s. Thanks so much, you made our day!!

Stopped here for a breakfast which was very nice and good value for money. Service was within good time and the staff are always very friendly. This cafe offers free WiFi as well and is dog friendly. Great selection of food and drink on the menu as well as specials board. We will return again in the future.

We popped into Wilfrid's for a morning cuppa, on arrival in Ripon to attend the Services at the Cathedral, especially as they were being sung by the Choir of King's Lynn Minster, in which Choir our son and daughter-in-law were singing. The welcome was very friendly. Later, we had lunch there and the food was excellent, good, wholesome cooking. Can recommend the Cottage Pie particularly. The staff were very friendly and made us very welcome. A gem of a place and we will return.

Called in here today and had a wonderful and very reasonably priced lasagne. Service a little slow but that is because everything is so fresh worth a visit

A lovely little place, would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area. Lovely staff make you feel at ease and the food is great. They have plenty of gluten free and vegan options available and the coffee is lovely. We come every year and bring our dogs and will continue to do so for many more.

We called into Ripon on our return from the Lake District and stumbled upon this little place purely by fluke. In search of an all day breakfast we had no luck of anywhere which accepted dogs, then as we were walking past Wilfrid's we saw that dogs were welcome and the lovely gentleman inside said he would cook 2 breakfasts (it had just struck 11am and most places had finished by this time). Not only was the service brilliant but the food was amazing! One of the best breakfasts we had in a while! Definitely worth a visit! Thank you :)

Sandwich using ordinary sliced bread (possibly Hovis), OK scone but nothing to get excited about, drinks should have been colder on a hot day, not water out of the tap. Just an underwhelming experience, when other places have done the basics better.

we stopped for a light lunch. wonderful service and great scones with jam cream and tea. all local products. pets allowed but not too many. only 2 when it busy. understandable looking at the room they have. very nice.

We popped into the cafe for lunch whilst on a break away in Ripon as the sandwich board outside said that they catered for gluten free and vegan diets. We were greeted and seated by a lovely Scottish lady who explained what was suitable and checked with the chef what options were available. My partner ordered the vegan burger which was served in a gluten free bun, with vegan cheese and vegan mayo and a large portion of chips. The food was cooked fresh, piping hot and delicious. I had a sandwich and chips, also delicious! There was a lovely looking selection of cakes on the counter, unfortunately we were too full to indulge, but if we visit Ripon again we will be sure to leave room!

Lovely to find such a clean, friendly, dog welcoming place only yards from Ripon cathedral. Loved the idea of our little dog being welcomed in while we ate. Nothing was a bother with this lovely lady, we had coffees (decaf) scones and toasted tea cakes, all hot and tasty and fresh water for the dog. The menu board was comprehensive catering for both gluten free and vegetarian as well as lots of choice for breakfast, brunch, lunch and tea. Going back in two days for our market day coffee stop.

We visited Wilfrid’s for breakfast while staying near Ripon for a family break. It was a great little cafe with lots of fresh, lovely options for breakfast. The specials board looked to have some lovely lunch options too! The service was great and it had a nice warm atmosphere for eating with the kids. Would definitely go back.

My wife and I were in Ripon today just for the day and called into Wilfrid's mid morning, we both had a sausage, egg bap with tea and coffee. I don't often write any reviews but for decent food, good service and reasonable prices this wee cafe has the lot.

We always visit this cafe when we are in Ripon and have done so for the last three years. They are so friendly and can’t do enough to give you the best service. Dog friendly too so all the family can enjoy the day. The food is always fresh and delicious. Always happy to see you and make you welcome. Fantastic.

We popped in here for a cup of tea and sandwich and having seen the Specials Board had Steak Pie, Chips and Peas and Lasagne with chips and salad garnish.

A small cafe that welcomes the canine. Waiter/waitress service but that is wonderful as they are very friendly. Breakfasted there three times and each time a sausage was bought for the dog. Each time this was cut up and left on the side until it had cooled. Great experience.

As a vegan of over 50 years this cafe is my idea of heaven , What ever your choice of food Ismail the chef will be able to produce many meals to suit your tastes from Yorkshire breakfasts with black pudding to vegetarian or Vegan meals , A large choice of cakes to die for [ also vegan cakes ] ,Many types of porridge and soup , A special menu every day plus a waitress service run by Wendy who just loves people and her dog friendly customers , Just say what your choice is and Ismail will produce his magic

I popped in here with my friend on a lunch break as we were in desperate need of something to eat and drink. We had never been in before so didn’t know what to expect. We ordered a soy latte, a hot choc, beans on toast and some chips. The service was great and prompt and the food was lovely - really hot! Which is what you want. Couldn’t fault it. The atmosphere was very lovely and homey. I look forward to returning next time I’m in Ripon.

This is an amazing little cafe with all home made food and cakes. The waitress was just delightful and so friendly The food was hot , plentiful and scrummy. A must if in Ripon. Not expensive either

Visited on a Saturday lunch time with my son and daughter in law, plus their tiny dachshund. Lovely little establishment clean and tidy and obviously popular. Whilst we only had sandwiches with our drinks I had time to notice the cooked food being prepared and presented which in true Yorkshire style was plentiful and obviously fresh and appealing. My sandwich Mature Cheese in Brown bread for instance was fresh crusty bread and as stated mature tasty cheese. Highlight for me....I drink black coffee so am more taste sensitive than those who prefer to dose their coffee in milk, cream, sugar et al. Coffee here is spot on a really good brew. I would recommend this café to any visitor to Ripon.

Took my car for a service so had a couple of hours to burn in ripon city centre and had not had any breakfast so i decided to fill up here as i have been here before but only for a coffee. Had a full vegetarian brekky with toast & butter plus pot of tea and a pot of hot water . First thing on entering is that you are warmly welcomed and tea brought immediately. Veggie breakfast consisted of two veggie sausages,hash browns,mushrooms,baked beans,two glorious fried eggs perfectly cooked,and half grilled tomato.excellent quality breakfast that prince charles could not have faulted. Finally 4 halves of toast with ample butter that could have covered twice the toast ! Lovely position in kirkgate just up from the cathedral . Nice background music and pleasant attentive scottish lady waitress . There are lots of cafes in ripon but for me this is number 1 by a mile. I noticed that they also do veggie lunches and gluten free food as well

We visited Wilfrid's Café on a Saturday lunchtime. Unfortunately I wasn't feeling so great from a caffeine overload & the lady was so patient with me! We actually visited again on Sunday lunchtime the next day after I had just given myself a concussion & a nose bleed from knocking myself out on my Husband's van roof & a different lady was working. Again I was so well looked after & offered allsorts of help! Especially when I couldn't even string a sentence together to place my order! It was the kindness on the first visit that made me feel comfortable to go back in my delicate state the following day!

Pleasant cafe in the Kirkgate. Fantastic, friendly welcome for us and our dog. Simple menu, lovely coffee (strong and tasty) and superb staff. Had a bacon and egg roll for lunch and the bacon was lovely; thick cut and perfectly cooked. Highly recommended.

After having some problems finding a dog friendly cafe this one advertised on it’s sign that dogs were welcome and our dog certainly was. Lovely friendly staff and fabulous food. Simple menu extremely well done.

Wilfrid’s is a friendly cafe conveniently situated between cathedral and market square. I stopped here for coffee and a scone on a brief first visit to Ripon and would very recommend it to any visitor to this lovely town.

Popped into Wilfrid's on a cloudy Sunday afternoon - lots of tables free so had our choice of where to sit. Table service was efficient and friendly. We only ordered two lattes so can't comment on the food, but from what we saw we'd definitely come back to try their lunch offering.
