The Silva Bells in Harrogate

Our first time at The Silva Bells, and we were NOT disappointed! Delicious starters, large main meal portions and super service! We will be back!

the food is salty, the pie is not fresh, the service is very long,also the burger bun is industrial and not homemade, really a bad experience and it will be the last time there

This was our first visit to Silva Bells, for our wedding anniversary. Everything was perfect; the service, food and environment. We had our dog with us, who sat quietly on his bed. We love dog friendly restaurants! We had the sourdough flatbreads with hummus to start, followed by deep fried shrimp in filo pastry and a prawn cocktail. For mains we both had sea bass which was absolutely sublime. Wow! We rounded everything off with a nice bottle of wine. The prices are really reasonable. We had a good view of the kitchen through their servery window and they’re a well-run and professional, tight -knit team. As an unexpected bonus, our lovely server brought us two brownies with a candle and “Happy Anniversary” scrolled in chocolate on the plate. It was a really nice touch. Hats off to the interior designer too; it’s both stylish and really welcoming. I think we found our new favourite place. Do yourself a favour and book a table! 😍

Delicious lunch , great service and good value. Recomend the sea bass and chicken supreme, liver and pork chop. It is all delicious.

Went to have a Sunday lunch arrived perfectly cooked and plenty of it including cauliflower cheese which was very tasty, staff were very friendly and afficant, would definitely go back if we return to Ripon

We recently stayed in Ripon to visit relatives and found this gem close to the cathedral. It was a delightful experience from start to finish. The staff were attentive and very friendly, and our food was delicious. I absolutely loved the burger :)

Set menu very reasonably priced and with a good selection of dishes, food very tasty and good portion sizes. Staff very friendly and attentive, would definitely recommend it and we will be back 😀

I had the lamb shank, mine was not great, it was poorly presented, the gravy was very watery and had a hand full of peas floating at the top. The flavours were ok but you could tell this was precooked, out of a bag and had been dropped onto the plate. At £22 I found it disappointing. *On a positive note, my friends had the liver & sea bass and they enjoyed theirs. The service was slow, but the girls that served us were lovely.

Really friendly owner, left us in a few minutes before opening as the weather was so bad outside. Generous portions, highly recommend

We had such a lovely experience here. We walked in and had a small dog with us and was greeted very friendly. Throughout, the service was exceptional, seriously could not of been better! The food and atmosphere equally matched. Highly recommend!

It was super busy today, the waiting staff handled it well and were as attentive and friendly as they could have been. The food was really nice too. Unfortunately some of the other customers were a bit rude.

We were in Ripon for a stop on the way home to Shropshire and wanted lunch. The sign board outside Silva Bells told us two important things, dogs allowed and gluten free catered for. It is amazing how you sometimes have to actually ask about these two issues. Lunch was great. The staff were brilliant, food was well cooked and presented, the dog got a bowl of water and a bonio and my gluten intolerance was catered for in a knowledgeable way. The only small issue was the wait between ordering and food arriving which was a bit too long. Notwithstanding we really enjoyed our visit and if we go back to Ripon we will go back for another meal at Silva Bells.

We called for dinner on our way to Fountains by Floodlight. First impressions on entry we're that the decor had been done to a high standard and the staff we're polite and welcoming. The menu has plenty of options with most dietary needs catered for, there's also a set menu if you want to keep the costs down a little, the staff are pleasant and attentive without being overbearing, nothing was too much trouble. The food was well presented and tasteful, our steaks we're cooked to perfection, all in all well deserving of its ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ rating. The 6 of us we're really impressed and next time in the area wouldn't hesitate to book again, only being open for a few months but excellently run and the staff are a real credit to the business. All the best for the future but somehow I don't think you'll need it. Definitely see you all again soon.

Whilst visiting Ripon with friends (and 2 dogs) we were looking for somewhere dog-friendly to eat. Came across this lovely restaurant. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, bringing a bowl of water and snacks for the dogs as soon as we were shown to our table. A lovely touch. Our food was delicious. One friend had steak and ale pie, my other friend had the chicken burger and I had the beef burger. The portions were generous and the prices reasonable. Would certainly recommend a visit.

Great service friendly staff and great food

Just popped in here for a cup of tea but ended up ordering quite a bit more. Reasonably priced, varied menu and very tasty food. Staff were welcoming, helpful and attentive. All in all a great find!

Superb food, excellent service, what more can I say!

We went on a Sunday evening, it was very quiet, as was the whole city, and it was the last place we tried because we had a dog. There is a separate area for dogs, but just the same as the rest of the restaurant. I had a lovely salad, lots of it. The staff were very attentive and even brought a water bowl and bomio for the dog. Would come again.

Visited with some college friends for a reunion. Excellent service from friendly staff. Wide ranging menu with excellent dishes. My own calves liver and bacon was delicious and perfectly cooked. Good drinks choices with a fantastic wine list. Well priced for the quality of the restaurant. Highly recommended.

Went here to celebrate friends birthday. Food very well cooked and service was good. Will be back next year when visiting Ripon.

Excellent sunday lunch, Staff very good, A noisy party in spoiled the atmosphere a bit, screaming child, with no control.

Celebrated my wife's birthday here on Saturday with family We all enjoyed our meals of 3 courses the steaks were cooked perfectly All the food was freshly cooked and piping hot and served promptly by pleasant staff We all said we would visit again Thankyou for a lovely evening 😊

What a strange menu , obviously not trained chefs ,the choices were strange ,Pizza with Cumberland sausage as a topping ? 4 or 5 fish dishes 1 pork dish ,just a Mish mash of choices . Service was slow had a pizza but it was cold and barely cooked . It should be called Guys restaurant, as every waitress referred to us as Guys including our wives ,who are clearly not Guys ! Nice staff but need to stop calling everyone a Guy !!!

Lovely place, just by the cathedral. We had a lovely meal, my husband had the steak and said it absolutely perfectly cooked. The staff were friendly and helpful. Will definitely eat here again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

We called in today for an early dinner. We opted for the set menu which had a good choice we chose the creamy mushrooms, the pate & the soup of the day which was creamy broccoli they were all delicious. Our mains were BEEF STROGANOFF,Strips of beef steak and mushrooms,slow cooked in creamy mustard sauce,served with risotto rice. LASAGNE & THE SILVA’S BEEF BURGER once again all fantastic, great portion size we were pretty full but because the food so far had been so,so nice two of us went for desert CHOCOLATE BROWNIE With vanilla ice cream & the most yummie CRÈME BRULEE. The music list playing was relaxing & some of the songs brought back memories "Wake Up Little Susie" by the Everly brothers was one. The staff were attentive but not over powering. We were lucky as we arrived relatively early but by the time we left it was getting busy so would recommed booking at peak times. A real Gem of a find & would definitely recommend & eat here again.

We dined there last weekend. We were there for a weekend break. The food was great. The staff were very attentive, friendly and efficient. The waitress knew my husband needed a beer before he did. Couldn't fault the evening. Would definitely recommend it.

Large group of 20 the cheese steak sandwich was wonderful. Had to wait a long time but hope that was because we were a large group. Staff friendly

We really enjoyed the food here and the waitress was very nice. Only snag is the tea. Served in a cup with a transgender in but nowhere to put the tea bag? I would have expected a small pot of tea, similar to other cafes.

Great little restaurant. We ate here on a midweek evening and it got quite busy which is testament to how good it is. Food delicious, staff very friendly and attentive, and were happy to make changes to dishes to accommodate our dietary requirements. We even got a nice treat when we mentioned it was our anniversary! Highly recommended.

Stopped in Ripon on a journey down from Scotland and stumbled across this place. Wasn't sure what to expect, but was absolutely blown away by the food. I had the pie which came with skin on fries and veggies along with a jug of gravy; The pie was one of the best I've had, filled with meat and a delicious gravy, the veggie mix was perfectly cooked, the the fries were crispy and hot. My wife has the chicken burger - grilled chicken breast rather than fried - and thoroughly enjoyed it. Portions were very generous and the prices very reasonable at around £35 including drinks. The service was to be commended as it was friendly without being obtrusive. I only wish it was closer as I would love to visit again.

Very friendly staff Lovely food. Very generous portions. Service good, generally speaking but we asked 3 times for jug of water. Apart from that, the staff were very attentive. It was nice to see it so busy as it was a Tuesday night.

Although they haven't yet got a vegan menu, they went out their way to provide more than one option for me. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff extremely pleasant and genuinely care that you have a good time there.

We went to try out this new restaurant and I was glad we did. Four mains and four desserts = 8 clean plates! Good food at good prices. Very friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Highlight - really nice mussels in white wine sauce! 👍 Constructive criticism - creme brûlée needs a bit of work, a bit mushy/grainy. We had a good night out!

I cannot rate this restaurant high enough! Exceptional food along with excellent service. It's rare these days to find a business which puts the customer first, but Silva Bells does just that! An outstanding meal second to none!
