Visited last night for a birthday tea. We was not disappointed at all. We enjoyed a sharing meze for two and it was absolutely delicious. Really Reminded us of our Greek Holidays 🤗 The service was fab and the restaurant had a great feeling and atmosphere. Would highly recommend a visit.

Really enjoyed my meal here, starters of pita brad with dips & garlic Mushrooms was delicious! Main meal was mixed grill which was delicious. Followed by tia Maria coffees. Highly recommend it here, also let us bring in are dog. Thanks!

We visited here recently on a Saturday night and was quite disappointed with the experience we had, we was greeted by a waiter (possibly manager) who didn't have a smile in him, who showed us to our table, by putting a couple of menus down and walking away. We chose to have a sharing platter starter as well as a sharing main course, the starter was little more than a bought in deep fried selection of items, on a wilted salad. The main course, the mixed grill for 2, although tasted nice enough, was a little underwhelming for the price paid. With 2 drinks our bill came to £95, for what was a very average meal. It wasn't all bad, the waitresses seemed to be doing their job a little better than our waiter, and the elderly gent bringing food out, shouting at other members of staff to see if he was at the right table was a little comical, but needless to say, with the overall experience we had, it is unlikely that we would return.

Went here for an authentic Greek meal, I always thought moussaka was with lamb mince, but it's done with beef mince here, and I'm not sure if it worked for me. It was very quiet when we went, and the service was just standard. I'm afraid, not a great selection of drinks, and I had to ask for ice with a glass of wine 3 times. It's in a great location, though. Oh, and it's expensive for the standard of meals served.

Had a really pleasant meal here. The cold mezee to start was very good value with lots of food, which would easily work as a four person appetizer. The tzatziki in particular was delicious, best I've ever had. Lamb koftas, calamari and lamb souvlaki all also delicious. On top of the excellent food, the service was quick and very friendly, with our waiter packaging up all our leftovers for us to take home. Would absolutely come back here.

Mixed grill for one was delicious, wife had the mixed souvlaki which she loved. Fast service and really friendly too. The restaurant really has the greek atmosphere, it made us feel like we were on holiday with a cold wine and a bottle of mythos. Will definitely be coming back again.

Absol fab if you are a foodie. Got a main dish for two, camecwith starters, salad cold hot starter then a meat feast main. I can eat a lot, but I had to take away. Couldn't waste any of that food, pork lamb and chicken skewers fab.

The starters were lovely and the atmosphere was really good. The main was very dry and lacked flavour.

Superb food and service at Taverna last night. I had chicken souvlaki. The meat was tender and juicy and cooked to perfection. The staff were friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. Authentic Greek music was playing and the atmosphere felt so good. Thank you for such a great night

Came here for a couples lunch. It was quiet at the time. Service quick and polite and the food was the best greek I've ever had, including from Greece! Amazing and will def go back.

We had a very good meal at Taverna. Warm welcome on arrival and taken to our table right away. We shared a Feta Me Mel - warm feta wrapped in filo and drizzled with honey - nicely presented and tasted really good. Mains of lamb kleftico and chicken sauté. The kleftico - perfectly cooked, falling off the bone lamb with lovely slow cooked veg and flavoursome gravy - excellent. The sauté very nicely cooked chicken in a rich tomato sauce with great flavour. Very generous portion sizes would definitely visit again.

Very Very nice Greek Restaurant in Harrogate, called to book a table at very short notice and accommodated my wife and I. Excellent service all round 👍👍👍

Came here with the family, and we all absolutely loved it. The staff were friendly and accommodating and the restaurant was lovely. Our meal was so nice that my youngest asked if we could move to Greece. That only downside was the cost. With a drink each and a bottle of wine, we spent just over £180. Still, even with that said, we would return... Once the piggy bank has refilled.

A first-time visit to Yorkshire. The thought when going anywhere is: What are you going to eat? I passed by Taverna on my exploration of the city. Greek/Mediterranean food: I ordered a mixed grill, and it was one of the best mixed grills I've ever tasted. The meat was soft, slightly chewy but overall the chargrilled taste was delightful. The rice had a season taste to it and the salad was dressed to perfection. I would definitely recommend and visit again.

The food was so delicious!! The mixed souvlaki was so tender, and flavoursome. Don't leave without trying the portokalopita. The waitress was so attentive and she looked after us during the whole meal.

Staying in harrogate for a few days was passing this restaurant and decided to give it a try. Food and service all very good and reasonably priced.

My wife and I ate at The Taverna 5 days ago, just walking past and got a booking the same night, the owner was very sociable and helpful. On arrival we were greeted by him. the restaurant is immaculate and the ambiance great. Our wine was ordered promptly and was good. The menu was all Greek and a great variety. Considering how busy it was the food came quickly and was SUPERB, starter and main course. The waiting staff were attentive but not in your face (Sociable). On paying our bill we were given a large OUZO each a great touch. I would recommend this restaurant to anybody visiting Harrogate. Thankyou Geoff. and Terri fron Sheffield.

Was looking at the menu outside when an American lady came out and said food and service were wonderful so we went in. I ordered a Greek salad and a lamb shoulder dish. One waiter was reluctant to give me olive oil as he said there was oil on the salad already. The slow roast shoulder turned out to be a lamb shank. Both were fine to eat but not quite as the American had suggested

Absolutely amazing! The bartender, Ella, made some great cocktails, the food was great, excellent service, Berti the waiter was so professional in his service. Berti was very friendly , with a positive mood and a contagious smile! The atmosphere was calm, with some upbeat music in the back, lovely decorations. We spent an excellent Saturday night at Harrogate, absolutely perfect service! Recommend to everyone, had a really pleasant evening!

Great food , very friendly service

The food was lovely and tasted so fresh. Good vegan options, most of the vegetarian menu can be adapted to vegan. The service though was the highlight. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, and very attentive. They all seem genuinely passionate about the food! The only teeny tiny downside was that the music was perhaps a little loud for me if trying to chat to the rest of your table. But that’s just me. Definitely would put me off going back

Good food and wide variety of dishes in the vegetarian meze. However somewhat expensive and prices have recently increased. Some menus show old prices still.

The food was satisfactory. Small portions for the price we pay. The service was exceptional and professional. It was annoying that the radio played instead of only Greek music.

Visited the Taverna for the first time on Friday evening. It was really busy, always a good sign, and we were not disappointed. The food was excellent and the service second to none - attentive but not intrusive. The staff were friendly and fun, a lively atmosphere and a great evening.

My wife and I called in on spec Saturday evening 13th January 24, while on a weekend visit to Harrogate, although the restaurant was busy we were welcomed warmly and seated very quickly. We had Tzatziki between us to start, my wife had the Greek sea bass and I had the chicken Gyros for mains. Both meals were excellent and ample portions. Service was excellent and staff very friendly and attentive. We travelled up from Derby for the weekend, but I'm confident that if we lived more local to Harrogate we would be regular visitors to the Taverna.

Came here New Years Eve after reading great reviews, fairly busy but we were seated straight away. The food was basic and I thought it was over priced, my partner had halloumi sticks, chips and salad and I had the Gyros. For nearly £20 each dish plus drinks etc very expensive. Sadly wouldn't eat here again.

Great afternoon in this cosy place. Lovely friendly welcome by the young chap. Drinks came quickly. Food amazing. I ordered the Chicken Slouvaki and my wife ordered the Chicken Gyro from the lunch menu. Why do you always wish you ordered what your partner ordered? I was still hungry so dessert ordered too. We had red wine to finish so it would be rude not to. Baklava arrived and my Orange Pie. Both amazing! Thank you! We'll be back. Maybe even tomorrow as staying over for two nights!

On a cold and wet December Monday we ventured into The Taverna. We were greeted by a friendly and helpful host and that was just the beginning......it has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and an extensive menu......the beef moussaka was the best I have ever eaten. We would be delighted to return here if we are in the area or you could always open a restaurant near us in Oxfordshire 😁

Partners meal was more like a soup than a stew. I had the garlic mushrooms to start, needed more mushrooms and a pitta bread

A must visit. Fabulous place. I was in Harrogate for a couple of days for a work event with some colleagues from Denmark. We had the best time at the Taverna. The food was exceptional, as was the service. The team running it were an absolute delight. One of the best meals and service experiences I’ve had in a long time. Will definitely be back next time we’re in town.

I had a party of 16 on a very busy Saturday night and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. The food is 1st class, the the meal was unhurried and we wished we had room for dessert.

Really tasty food. Lovely service, especially the very tall waiter. Music a bit loud for our liking, and would have preferred a less cramped table.

I ate here for my birthday. Unfortunately, my appetite only allowed for one course. Fortunately, it was a case of quality over quantity with the Chicken Emilio. It was rich without being overpowering, and the portion size was generous enough.

We had an evening meal at Taverna on a wet Wednesday night & it was absolutely superb. I had the feta filo parcels with sesame seeds & honey & my husband had the lamb koftas. All came in a reasonable time & lovely & hot. For mains my husband had the chargrilled chicken breast stuffed with spinach & feta, rice & tsatziki & I had the chicken breast with onions & mushrooms in a creamy brandy sauce with chips which was to die for. So rich & decadent! I somehow managed to fit in a dessert of baklava. I'm so glad I did as it was the best baklava I've ever tasted. Sweet, sticky & unctuous. Then to finish an Irish coffee. Throughout the meal the staff were polite & attentive. To be honest I don't think I could fault anything other than the fact they are not on my doorstep at home, so I can't come back whenever I feel like it, for a fabulous meal! Definitely highly recommend. Thank you.

Food is most important and was really good. The place is not spectacular but was not the most important.

Reply - That is not the truth. The waitress did NOT move the table until I myself, and my mother told her that we refuse to sit on separate tables. Appalling that you would lie about this. It is of no relevance to me that other diners did not complain about their dishes. OUR food was very bad. It does not make me feel any better that you clarify the pastitsio was replaced, it should not have been cold the first time. Very disappointing that you'd use this time to make excuses, rather than just apologise. Especially for such an important day. You have solidified my decision to never come back to Taverna. -- I booked here for my Mum's 60th birthday. What a poor experience. We had not been here before, but I booked based off of the positive reviews, travelling from Leeds. We started off on the wrong foot as the waitress tried to seat our table of 6 on two separate tables with a large pillar separating the two tables. I was shocked that this was a serious suggestion, and had to tell her that this was obviously unacceptable. The restaurant wasn't even busy or full? I wish we'd left then. The wine was lovely but everything else was disappointing. The kleftikos were almost inedibly salty, I passed this information on and nothing was done about it. Both the kleftikos and the stifados were watery, I've never had it served like that before. The stifado was under-seasoned and one of them had barely any meat. The rice was not hot. The pastitsio was cold in the middle and we had to send it back. We saw someone at another table with the same issue. We were offered Greek salad for the table, but it turns out this was NOT complimentary, it cost an extra £8.45 - it is in fact a main course dish - I find it shocking to add on a whole main without disclosing this. I absolutely would not return or recommend. Even though we let them know we were not happy, they did not take anything off the bill. Put a very bad note on an otherwise lovely day.
