Still sat at the table after a lush meal, and wanted to leave a review immediately. Took the family - 3 teens- who are notoriously fussy and all 3, loved the food - the ribs for starters were beautifully cooked and so tasty, the seafood croquettes equally delicious pizza were lip smacking devoured at speed - all in all a gorgeous 90 minutes of family company with exceptional food!

Great homely feeling about the place and great food to match

Just had a wonderful linguine pomodoro and glass of red. Perfect service (always appreciated when you're a table for one). Had to post even before seeing the dessert menu it was that good.

Absolutely Amazing – Best Italian We’ve Ever Had! We were staying at a hotel in Ripon where the food felt a little overpriced, so we decided to eat out — and after reading the great reviews on Tripadvisor, we chose to visit Mario’s. Only one word: AMAZING! The food was so good that we went back the very next night — and we honestly wish this restaurant was local to us, as it’s easily the best Italian we’ve ever been to. Special shout-out to the lovely lady behind the bar who made our cocktails — I didn’t catch her name, but she was so friendly and made the best strawberry daiquiris! We went for the midweek set menu: two courses for just £15.50 — an absolute bargain, especially for the quality. If we’re ever in the area again, Mario’s will be our first stop. Highly recommend!

We struggled to find somewhere to eat in Rippon 4.30pm on a Wednesday until we found Mario’s. We ordered from the set menu my husband started with the liver pate and I had the grilled goats cheese then king prawn linguine all was delicious and we were very impressed with the extent of the set menu. Enjoyed a lovely family lunch on Mother's Day. All the food was up to the usual high standard which Marios always seem to achieve. The staff were all friendly and helpful and the atmosphere lovely. I find this restuarant consistent and it is always a pleasure to eat there.

Food was delicious. Service good despite it being busy. Very noisy maybe due to early bird menu at 6? Came 6.30pm , a bit over warm and you have to shout to talk! Dine later if you want a more peaceful experience!

I changed my review to a lower rating because some time after I posted my original review I opened Google maps and read how awfully you responded to me and took zero responsibility for the way things are at your restaurant. Your aggressive and rude behaviour shows clearly through your words and reflects everything I have described in my original review and what some of your staff is like in your restaurant. Laughable. Get a grip and learn to Learn from feedback rather than accuse the customer for being made to feel ripped off by You. Franky, if a customer feels a certain way, they don't owe you any explanation? I decide to spend my money in your restaurant, I'm allowed to leave you a review based on how you made me feel and what you served me in your premises. If you can't provide a good service or take a good look at yourself and your staff, than that's all on you. Original review: Would not recommend, food was good but the waitress who took our order and appeared to be in charge was rude to us and other guests who were walking in, she practically shouted at them that their party of 12 better be 12 and not 14 as they have not got the space for 14 and also shouted at them to shut the front door as it's too windy.. All that could have been said in much different way seeing as they are about to drop a big amount of money on their meals. Not very knowledgeable about the food served either. My partner ordered veal and she asked whether he wanted it rear or well done and he said rear, minutes later the chef then came out the kitchen to ask her why the veal is marked as rear as he can't make it rear if it's so thin. It was a very uncomfortable experience altogether. Also there appeared to be far too many waiting and bar staff behind a tiny bar. Could do with some customer service training and less staff really. The roasted potatoes were really good, but the tomato sauce too sweet and not reduced enough. Overall not great really. Quite sad for a small "family run" business.

My partner and I went for a lovely meal at Mario's last night with our little boy. The staff were so lovely especially with our son. We felt very looked after, the food was delicious and great value, the atmosphere was perfect. We were recommended this restaurant a few times and glad we finally tried it, we will be back!

Very busy night in Ripon: two performances at the cathedral with large audiences, but the staff at Mario’s were accommodating and friendly and the food was outstanding. I loved the Seafood Risotto.

Once again a large group of us enjoyed New Year's Eve in Mario's Restaurant. As usual, we could not have wished for a more enjoyable evening. The food was excellent and the service was great even though the restaurant was so busy. I would recommend you give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

We found this fantastic place probably 15 /16 years ago. Travelling on a 2 hour 20 minute round trip we think it's well worth it. Staff are always attentive, food is always fantastic with a lovely friendly environment. Just wish we lived closer so we could visit more often!. If you like authenticate Italian cuisine, cooked fresh great service and atmosphere then this is the place to go. Can't recommend it enough.

This is a great Italian restaurant, just near the cathedral. Great food and service. A nice friendly vibe and a good range of dishes. We turned up late, without a reservation, and they put themselves out to find us a table. The sardine fillet starter was fresh and nicely cooked. The penne and bolognese meatball main course was delicious and filling. Good house wine and a good wine list to accompany the meal.

If you’re in Ripon check this place out I highly recommend the lobster ravioli the sauce was excellent.The staff seem to care about the place and engage with the customers.Just one thing it seems to be a big price difference between a half and a pint of he Italian draft lager but don’t let that put you off .The food was excellent

Lovely "Pizza del la casa" a combination of half pizza half calzone. Meat feast type on one side, and ham mozella and chicken inside the calzone. Base was light and fluffy and plenty of toppings covering the pizza

I’ve had quite a few meals at Mario’s now and every single one has been phenomenal, every time I order something I like it however I always wish I’d ordered something different because everything looks so good and delicious, Everyone is always so friendly and attentive and you can tell they really enjoy what they do and that really adds to the warm, hospitable atmosphere that you always associate with a family run restaurant, it’s more like actually being at an Italian family’s house and you’ve just popped round for your tea; you forget for a second that you’re in a restaurant. Some particular favourites of mine from the menu are the Carpaccio; I love anything to do with meat so the carpaccio is always right up my strata. Second is the Ribeye which when paired with the peppercorn sauce is out of this world (I know it has a different name on the menu but I can’t remember it to save my life). But the ribeye is tender and at such a good price it is one of the best steaks you will ever eat, and the best one I have ever had. It’s mine and my girlfriend’s go to if we want to have a great treat together and we don’t want to venture into Harrogate, we recommend it to absolutely anyone and everyone who asks where is a nice place to eat in Ripon.

First time here and won’t be the last

Staying in Ripon for a week and you are literally spoilt for choice with loads of restaurants and at least 4 Italians! Anyway, Mario’s looked to be the best from window shopping so we booked a table and so glad we did! We all chose from the two-course special menu (absolute bargain at £15.95!) and so glad we did. The portions were generous, the choice immense and the food was delicious. Honestly it was the best Italian food we’ve tried outside of Italy and such good value for money. If you are staying in Ripon my advice is visit this place on one of your last nights - because if you visit on the 1st night in town you’ll absolutely have to return time and time again! It really is that good.

18th Sept 2024 Recently moved to Ripon and found this restaurant today. What a gem! Food delicious and well priced, staff friendly. Came for early bird 4.30pm any starter and pasta or pizza £15.50. Well worth the money. Would recommend and will certainly return.

I had the gluten free carbonara & mozzarella garlic pizza bread and both were delicious. Good GF Italian food is hard to find and this was lovely!

What a fabulous family run restaurant. Went for the early set menu starter and pizza and was spoilt for choice. Food was delicious well presented. Would possibly say anything you chose would be devine. The staff were friendly and attentive and great value for money. Will definitely be putting this in the visitor's book for future holiday makers to hopefully pay a visit.

Great Italian in Ripon. Excellent veal liver, very tasty risotto.

Service was good, food ok, portions probably too big - I found the concept of Pasta with bolognese sauce and meatballs a little strange. Tiramisu was huge and rather stodgy, more like trifle. Decor reminiscent of a rather basic holiday camp, no ambiance, little variety of colour, plain pine wooden chairs, no cushions or padding on seats, no soft furnishings to create texture or diffuse sound. Our table was right next to the door to the toilets.

Thank you ! It is not every time one dines out, that one is treated to this level of deliciousness. Words are not enough to describe how good the food was. Had the spinach cannelloni with ricotta, mozzarella, spinach, cherry tomatoes, garlic, tomato sauce. Proper genuine food. One could taste all the different flavours and yet it all blended so well. 10 points 🤩 this dinner I will remember for a lifetime.

Went here in a party of 4 last night My pizza was one of the best I have ever had and my wife had pasta . She rated it same our friend's had chicken which had a minor issue corrected immediately and a seafood dish which was a 5 . Over all definitely be going back and well rrecommendedFull marks on everything

We were intrigued by Mario’s. As lovers of Italian food, we assumed this would be a local style trattoria, just like some of the streets of Rome. It wasn’t. The food was poor and the staff were inattentive. Wouldn’t visit again.

Went in with my wife Saturday night before the concert and the place had a lovely busy buzz about it. Waiter was polite, welcoming and very knowledgeable about the menu, but all the staff just couldn't do enough for us. We opted for the set menu which is phenomenal value. Great portion sizes and food was sublime, cooked perfectly and very tasty. Restaurant has a lovely modern decor with exposed brick and good choice of drinks. Wish we lived closer to be honest. If we are in the area again we will definitely visit and would 100% recommend. Don't miss out! and have the beef medallions they were to die for.

Take-away pizzas from here were some of the best we've eaten (delicious traditional base, good quality ingredients & appropriately cooked) and the portion of Tiramisu absolutely delicious! The staff were friendly and helpful on ordering and collection. On that showing hopefully we'll find an opportunity to dine-in, should we have occasion to come back this way in the future!

Brilliant. You will not leave with an empty stomach. GUARANTEED!!! Food, and service both fantastic. Visited with friends and certainly was not disappointed. Food was fresh, hot and beautifully prepared. Value for money is excellent. You go and compare prices to any chain restaurant and this beats it, comfortably. But doesn't beat it just on price, the food is far superior. All staff were super friendly and attentive and the, guy who I think was the owner, was a star. Would definitely recommend and will definitely return at some point when visiting the beautiful town of Ripon.👌👍 A+.

This Italian restaurant is family run, and they certainly know how best to use simple, good quality ingredients to create beautiful food. We went twice because it was so good! The choice is bountiful, as are the portions and the prices were very reasonable. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the tables are generously sized with very comfy chairs too. A perfect restaurant for a really lovely evening of food and pleasure.

Mario's is an absolutely fantastic restaurant. I honestly can't say a bad word about the place. There were 5 of us and from the moment we arrived we were looked after by all the staff. Staff treated us like we were family and were extremely polite. All the food we ordered arrived together (no one was left looking at others eating ha). Staff asked us 10 minutes before our food arrived if we needed drinks as the food was nearly ready, ensuring we had drinks for when our food did arrive... nice touch by the way. The food was cooked to perfection and the ribeye was so good. Highly recommend and will most definitely be going again when we pass through.

I took my wife here while we were traveling from the US. I had the beef bourguignon and she had the risotto seafood. The food was amazing. Th3 staff were all so nice. A guy named Marco spoke to us quite a bit. From the way he looks I guess he's the dishwasher. He was so friendly We hope to visit again some day

We had dinner here on a Tuesday night and it was heartening to see the restaurant quite busy. Booking is a good idea. The Italian menu at Mario's is large and generous, and the food was delicious. Cheerful, friendly staff give a genuine welcome. We hope to return to this wonderful restaurant. Lucky Ripon!

This is the second time I’ve been to Marios and again the service was excellent, the food outstanding and the atmosphere exactly as you would expect in a good Italian restaurant, busy and family orientated. Nothing was too much, the staff team are fantastic. Thankyou for a great evening! We will be back again soon.

Visited the restaurant again last night and although busy (which is always good to see in these tough economic times) the service, atmosphere and food were, as always spot on. Nothing too much trouble and I still think their pizza is the best in the city. Keep you the good work Marco and the entire team.

New Year’s Eve late booking and very lucky to get a table. The restaurant was full but the service was excellent and the food delicious. We can particularly recommend the mussels with tomato starter and the King Prawns & Asparagus risotto main. This is definitely the best Italian restaurant in Ripon. We have eaten here quite often over a number of years and have never been disappointed. Will return again soon.

A lovely meal to make a perfect evening.

We had a lovely Friday night dinner here, a couple of vegan options and welcoming staff. There was a nice atmosphere and my spaghetti pomodoro dish was really good and a generous portion size.
