service was great with attentive staff, portions huge!! and super quick to come out after ordering. definitely will be back again in the future to try other things on their menu other than the half pizza half pasta as it all looks delicious. i had the half vegetarian pizza half chicken arrabbiata

Visited Portofino as a last minute decision. Impressed by the choice on offer, particularly the seafood which was fantastic quality. Portions are huge so be warned! We both ordered mussels but unfortunately there was only one portion left (so make sure you get in early as they were delicious). The host was apologetic for the lack of availability and offered an alternative not on the menu which was heavenly. Pizza and pasta were amazing! All staff were lovely and accommodating. Will certainly head back next time we’re in Ripon 😁

Superb... Stopped here for our evening meal whilst travelling to the North East. Food was delicious and the portions were enormous!!! The best bit, the Monday to Thursday deal for £14.95 was an absolute steal...!!! Thanks Portofino, we hope to visit again soon..

Took a detour from the A1(M) to come here and it was well worth it. There's a big car park nearby, so it was easy to park. The food was incredible (I had the seafood pasta), very authentic Italian, and the portions were generous. They had a kids menu too, which was very good.

Popped in for lunch and was over impressed. The atmosphere is brilliant, staff are lovely and we loved the fact you could have pizza and pasta!!

Great, super friendly staff. The meal was very good. (But super plentiful if that’s a flaw). Also great with children. The place is super clean, you realize it as soon as you enter the restaurant.

I decided to visit Ripon, to see this old town. And I walked through a narrow street and saw an Italian Restaurant. I love Italian Pizza, authentic pizzas, as the Italians use premium ingredients and no plastic cheese you find at the local shop or supermarkets. This review is about my love for Italiano Pizza. And I do love premium cheese and I buy only the finest cheese, e.g. Gouda, Edam: these cheeses are from Netherlands. And in Britain, it's Cathedral cheese, Colliers Cheese(Welsh), properly mature for texture and quality taste. And Fevon TAW Valley cheese, so tasty and you know when you taste it in your mouth, it's quality produced. And Somerset cheese, Double Gloucester cheese(Garstang), the name on bracket is where it's made, and look out for that. I know about cheese, cause, I've been eating cheese for so long and I've learned about what cheeses are the finest. Anyway, at Portofino restaurant in Ripon, I ordered a Margherita Pizza(vegan), it eas piping hot and so, so, so delicious. And I enquired, "Hi, Sir, where are you from in Italy?" But, didn't get an answer promptly, I knew there was a lost in translation brewing here. No, not the movie starring Bill Murray. I did my Sherlock investigation and searched on my friend 'Mr Google'. I typed Portofino and it came up, a small fishing port in the North west of Italy, in GENOA. A presto, I said to myself, smiling. And I knew I had to swiftly learn a few lines on how to say, 'It's a beautiful Pizza'. I did and after partially eating and asking for pizza jox to take away my Italian Pizza and so I can eat it the following day, cause, it was true not to eat it another slice or two, the next day. The Italian waiter brought my Pizza in a cardboard pizza box and I paid my bill. And I glanced at the waiter and I said in Italian, "eh-bello Peetsah". And the Italian waiter smiled and he replied, "Ciao!" And I left the restaurant like an Italian Pizza Connoisseur. My love, passion and taste for the best Pizzas in Europe and the world. I'm on an Italian Job, trying various Italian style pizzas, from different Italian makers of pizzas.

Very bad customer service today, x3 men just chatting at the bar, not coming to customers. Race day too obviously didn't want business. Walked out and went elsewhere

My partner complained 3 times about the lack of topping on the pizza , bland and tasteless yet no satisfactory outcome and no discounts, Never coming back .

Possibly Ripon's best Sunday Roast. The hosts were as good as the food. The Italian vibe was there, welcoming, generous and tasty. If the cauliflower cheese is smuthing to go by the traditional dishes will not disappoint.

Great place and delicious food, we'll definitely come back for another meal or desserts! But the portions are huge, also wish there was an age relation, no point to serve same size of meal for a 4-year old and say a 10+ year old. I myself had a half parmo and a half pizza, and I felt like a half parmo OR a half pizza would have been enough haha Anyway, you can take any leftover home in a box, a good option. Overall, we had a lovely meal.

Refreshing to experience tip-top restaurant management and service. Nice to see a restaurant run properly. The chef's own peppercorn sauce did not disappoint. The steak was top quality, the pasta cooked to perfection, and a generous helping of mussels. Highly recommend.

Lovely lunch with a friend and our grandsons. Staff brilliant, even though it was quite busy they were really attentive and so good with our boys.

We came here for the first time tonight and at the start everything was fine, the food the service etc however when it came to mains I ordered a pasta dish and I found a hair in it, which the lady with the ginger hair with a fringe was so lovely about it and made me a new one, and then my boyfriend ordered a calzone which was nice however there was a fly on his plate, picture below, and the italian man who sat us down was so rude he took my plate away whilst I was still eating, seemed like he was rushing us, and could barely hear him. Also sat right in front of the door so on a busy saturday when it’s 1° outside we were freezing and couldn’t enjoy our meal.

We had our late Christmas party there last night and WOW!! The food was incredible, great choice of drinks and the service was great. Lovely atmosphere. Thank you

Called in as my partner was on an appointment just for a coffee and snack the waitress who was quite pleasent said yes no prob place was cold was waiting for about 25 mins for just a coffee the waitress was on her own and although there was another member of staff sat down with someone did nothing at all to help her if that's the service for a coffee would hate to think how long a meal would take

I love this place! The food is amazing, the portions are large but yet very reasonably priced, leading to fantastic value for money. The atmosphere is lovely, rustic and cosy (in a good way!), the place is always busy but yet not loud. They do great offers on the food by way of being able to have half of one thing and half of another e.g half a spaghetti and half a pizza or parmo and happy our offers. The staff are friendly and the food arrives in good time even when it's busy. When a place is busy and it's often essential to book even on a Tuesday night, you know they're doing something right! Keep up the amazing work guys. Can't wait to visit again for the lord knows how many'th time! (The picture is of one of their pizzas (the Diavolo) I got as a takeaway during covid. Yes, you can collect food too!)

The other week, Me and my husband went in for a meal. Everything was going rather well and we were enjoying ourselves. I went to the restrooms and to my dismay I witnessed two young staff members kissing each other in the bathroom. Then as me and my husband were leaving, we spotted the same two staff members vaping and using inappropriate language outside the restraunt. Overall i enjoyed my meal but this definitely makes me rethink about coming back.

Hi we was in in same night as k949star sat right next to the table Lucas did no such thing I believe he handled a situation you created very professionally he smiled he tuc your abuse and carried on with his job also if this was said why did you eat the food threw it down your throat like you have never been fed also my food was amazing, I had a young girl serving us smiled the whole time such a beautiful young lady both Lucas and this young lady are an absolute credit to your business defo deserves a pay rise

i had a waiter called lucas and he was extremely rude to everyone at the table often swore as he was walking past or even talking to us he even threatened us and to do things to our food

Food is very nice and the interior is pleasant to look at, however, some of the staff might need reminding of how to make customers feel welcome as we were glared at constantly from the second we came in. There was a hint of homophobia in the air which spoilt our meal slightly.

What a little find? Garlic bread super thin that actually tastes of garlic, chicken liver pate with plenty of bread and onion chutney. Then we had ordered 2 pastas which was a special lunch time price, however, not a lunchtime portion. Food tastes beautiful and was hot! Finished off with a double expreso - fabulous!

Amazing food and great service. I had the Aubergine parmigiana and it’s the nicest Italian food I’ve ever eaten! Fantastic deals on 2 courses and the food was delicious, the atmosphere was buzzing and it is obviously an extremely popular restaurant with good reason! You won’t be disappointed if you give this place a visit!

First visit but won't be the last one. Lovely, hot food and great at table service even on a special event day in Ripon. Not sure about the dodgy 90s music but otherwise a really nice authentic Italian restaurant.

Just visited portofino for lunch . Baby ribs faultless Prawn cocktail …very poor about 6 prawns lots of sauce dry white bread on the side literally covered in thick margarine . Pasta meal chicken n baby prawns was ok but no taste at all . Lasagne had a spoonful of mince in the whole meal smothered in far too much cheese . Lager was warm . Sorry Very poor meal !

My boyfriend and I decided to go on a last minute date and decided to go here. The food was absolutely delicious. We both have minuscule appetites so had to get a to-go box. The service was absolutely incredible, especially by our server, Chris. We cannot commend him enough!! He was so prompt and kind and helped us clean a spillage… oops. I’d highly recommend going here. The atmosphere is lovely and the servers are beyond kind. The portion sizes are also very generous!!!
