Myself and my husband went this evening for a meal . The service was excellent the waitress was very friendly and we didn't have to wait for anything.. The food was wonderful all very fresh and cooked to order with no real wait between courses. We would recommend the Antipasta to share as a starter ! Not expensive very reasonable. However...we both felt the restaurant was missing something...maybe a few pictures , parlour palms ( plants in general) it lacked ambience, quite bare internally . The lovely fire should have been lit not for heat but for the warmth of the atmosphere . ??? No coziness.?

I have visited this well-established pub many times before which is now under new management. My experience: Pleasant staff & relaxed atmosphere. My dinner: Fish & chips with peas & a cup of tea, all for the value of £15.95. However, I have never had fish & chips before served without bread & butter, but here there simply wasn't any available, & not just a one-off where someone had forgotten to order the bread, but because when I enquired I was told that no one ever bothers to order any. How shocking is that. The Fish & chips were delicious, but no bread available - disgusting, in my opinion & so was the reason for not having any made available. Get your act together please. Stephen Davis, Hull. Date of visit: Fri 4.4.25 Date of this review: Fri 11.4.25

Not been in here for years because last time I came I was waiting around an hour for my food after being served, I thought surely things will be better this time around... nah! Kids behind the counter just joking around messing about like last time, Asked for 3 spam butties, no breadcakes, it was only early too! I got me and my friend spam, chips and a tiny pot of gravy instead almost £17??!! Never again will I step foot in here, shocking prices, shocking service, just because its the only one in the village doesn't mean you can charge what you like,

After booking a table we walked from the seaside camp site in red hot weather and two little dogs with us to be totally ignored by 2 young girls I had to ask several times were they would like me to sit and there response was anywhere There wasn’t much shade but I did find a table out the back (not the best) I then had to go ask for a menu and tell them we’re we were sat Minutes later we did get the restaurant menu that looked very nice but wanted something lighter so again went to ask for cafe menu Waited because it does say table service Then told order at counter. Again was totally ignored no one seemed to want our business When I did eventually order they didn’t have anything left what we wanted so we walked away very very unhappy with the experience and definitely disappointed ( one last thing I hope the lady I think the manager managed to sell one of her pieces of art because she seemed to be more interested in that than serving people )

Was our first time at Bert’s, the setting is lovely overlooking the lake, the staff were also very friendly and professional. We had a pizza to share for starters which was ok but lacked a decent topping a little sparse for £14. We followed up with a pasta dish for mains never had a pasta dish that was so greasy and had a really strong aftertaste that stuck with us for the remainder of the day. The total bill came to £70 + service charge so all in all lunch for 2 costing £70 I don’t consider value for money.

I never leave reviews but I had to leave one. I ordered a mixed starter for 2. Chicken chow mein. Beef satay some noodles., fried rice and chips. The starter was what I can only describe as poor. The prawn toast was really nice but the wonton looked as though it had been fried then refried 1 spring roll and 1 bbq rib which was drier than the Sahara desert. The rice was dry like it was yesterday's reheated, the noodles were rice noodles which were just watery. The chips must have been cooked the day before and just microwaved. Beef satay should be renamed beef vindaloo and the chow mein was dry. The only colour in the chow mein was the carrot which was raw. £40 wasted as most of it was inedible

Had takeaway for good Friday, Got senior and large haddock n chips, the senior fish was larger than the normal large. The fish was ok but little hard and thin. Chips and curry sauce nice, and bag of scraps, senior fish was good but the so called large haddock not so and small, sadly not as good as when it was Harpers, won’t be rushing back

Lovely place & cocktails. Food average. Salad not very exciting, a lot of yellow Iceberg lettuce . My husband had items missing from his meal that should have been included, as per the menu specification. Will try again, though. Staff were attentive.

Pub is very run down and no longer serves food which it was once renown for. Not very welcoming Only open Thursday to Sunday.

We arrived mid-week for lunch. We asked for the menu and were given a scruffy, poorly printed off piece of paper on a clip-board. Concluding that that was an indication of the standards in that establishment we left.
