Nafferton Fisheries in East Riding of Yorkshire

Very poor fish. The batter was awful and the fish was way past its sell by date. I shall never go there again. Very strange that it has reasonable reviews.

Great food, the fish was very tasty as were the chips, it was cooked when ordered so it wasn't dried out under the lights, the mushy peas were very tasty, and all served with a genuine smile, lovely chippy and lovely people, definitely go back again

Bought fish and chips last night .Ordered on entering shop 1 large fish, 1 small and 1 large chips. On opening package at home, chips fine, fish a real disappointment. What I had was a normal sized fish, over cooked and horrible greasy thick batter ,plus a piece of another fish presumably to make up to a large. The obviously local guy behind me had ordered 2 large fish which I noticed were ok. Why was I fobbed off with this second rate meal? Why didn’t I receive the large fish I ordered. I may not be a local and not personally known to the chip shop owners , but that’s no excuse for second rate goods! Hope for better things next visit as I do like my fish and chips!

Went here on a recommendation ordered by phone in advance didn't have to wait long ordered large cod and chips which were superb very generous portions fish cooked to perfection crisp batter fluffy chips will be returning.

I am going to break with my tradition and grant 5*’s because they have excellent quality and service but with the added benefit of amazing value. Beautifully flavoured fresh-cooked fish served hot with lovely crispy batter, fluffy-centred chips and flavoursome peas - cheerful and friendly staff - but with added benefit of the very reasonable prices, a full £2 to £3 cheaper per person than shops near the east coast resort where I live. Also the added benefit of an extensive menu of other options including the Hawaiian fritter (spam/pineapple/cheese) which I have yet to try next time I visit the area.

We were celebrating a couple of significant birthdays at Bluebell Inn and wanted to sample traditional fish and chips. Dave and Sue couldn't have been more helpful. We had exactly the orders we wanted, delivered piping hot on time and demolished within minutes! Very pleased with the service and the quality of our food, highly recommended!

We decided to deviate from our usual, well known fish and chip shop on the coast and try Nafferton Fisheries. We weren’t disappointed with friendly service and really good, traditional fish and chips. This place doesn’t open for long but is worth a drive out if you fancy some fish and chips.

However you choose to eat them, the fish and chips taste great and the portions are generous. What more need be said?

We are lucky to have Dave and Sue here in Nafferton. From the day we moved into the village, they made us feel welcome. We are fussy eaters but call ahead to plaice (see what I did there) our orders and then arrive shortly after to collect. The food, no matter what you order is always freshly cooked and the batter never soggy. The prices are very reasonable and my in-laws say the portions are that good, they share a meal! Never visited the restaurant, in fact didn't know there was one as it's not well advertised. Some local friends drive from Driffield as they say it's worth it. (I'd agree) Lovely food, warm welcome and decent prices

Always fresh food cooked on entry. Friendly staff always welcoming .Cannot be beaten on price and quality

You won't go far wrong calling at this village chip shop on your way through. Eat in or take out. Very reasonably priced as well. The owner is very friendly and chatty and will hold court with you on almost any subject!

So pleased this chippie is on our door step. The battery on the fish has so much flavour and is so crisp. Absolutely gorgeous.

Our first evening at our holiday cottage near Wansford and we needed a convenient meal. Nafferton was a short drive away so the chips were still piping hot .Excellent service and cooked fresh ,plus ample amounts of fish and chips. Owner very friendly and accommodating .Reasonably priced take away.

Never had a bad meal from here, super friendly staff and fast service. Food is always tasty, freshly prepared and piping hot. Good selection of dishes available.

Freshly cooked fish, generous portions ho yus, reasonable prices, always got a smile on. Invited him to come cook at house party but his wife wouldn't come!
