The Snaith Chippy & Bistro in East Riding of Yorkshire

We are the wrong side of 60 so have had a few fish suppers from chip shops before. Lots to compare to. These were the very best ever. Fish was SO tasty, yes it had flavour. SO fresh. Well cooked and a good size. Not had them from there for some time and yes they have changed ownership and they are SO much better. Good service, friendly staff and price was what we expected. Will be going back.

No longer a Chippy & Bistro, now just Snaith Chippy. After a poor spell with a change of ownership during lockdown the Chippy is now under new management & is now one of the best in the area. Prices are good & the food quality, flavour & cooking are excellent. Under the last owners we resorted to a 12 mile round trip to Selby for fish & chips, but now we are back to being able to get a good fish & chips in Snaith once again.

Freshly cooked, delicious fish, large portions and friendly staff. Everything you want from a fish and chip takeaway.

Called in at teatime, expected it to be bizzy, but nobody in?, ordered fish n chips and bread cake, this came to £8.50!!!! London prices, never paid as much, not even inLondon, enjoyed them but will not be going back at that price

Contrary to a previous review, I found the portions generous. They offer large & small fish, and i found the large fish too big for me! The owners were serving and were friendly and helpful - on one occasion we were so busy chatting that they forgot to charge me (obviously i paid when i realised)!

Called last minute and wow I’m glad I did the best fish and chips I’ve had in a while batter crispy and light fish chunky and fresh chips to die for I don’t live near I’ll be here all the time xxxx

Won’t be returning! Not impressed with the staff and as for the portion size a joke! You could actually count the chips!! New business thought we would give it a go but will be going back to frying nemo!!

Visited the The Snaith Chippy & Bistro today and will not visit again! The customer service was terrible and the staff were rude. The batter on the fish was horrendous and actually made me feel sick. The peas were horrible, they were hard and tasted disgusting . I would not recommend this chippy to anyone and will continue to go to the Frying Nemo in Carlton for far better quality fish and chips!

Visited this evening for fish and chips, service terrible lady behind counter I think is owner was slap dash, see photo of gravy and curry split down the side. The batter on fish tasteless. Shame has they are new owners, we will not be returning will continue to go to Eggborough chippy which are fab but are miles away from us, Snaith is our local. Peas were a bright green and only half full.

tried the food twice , hard mushy peas , more batter than fish, green chips very greasy , staff more happier to chat to each other than the customer

Truly great. Wonderful. Eat in or take out. Perfectly fine pricing. Friendly. The only trouble with the fish and chips and mushy peas is that I just want to go back every day!!!!! Thank you.

We use snaith chippy whenever we have a fish and chips. They offer fantastic value for money and excellent kids meals.

Great batter on the fish, chips good, curry sauce nice, mushy peas nice but a bit of salt and vinegar improved taste. Overall we would go back!If in Snaith would recommend.

Portions are a great size, food is freshly cooked, the staff are very friendly and informative, haven't tried the restaurant side just the takeaway. Would recommend anyone to try the Snaith Chippy.

Arrived at 13.25 not realising they closed at 13.30. They saìd it was Ok to come in we were a party of 6, the food was delicious, the price was reasonable and the service was excellent. Would definitely recommend this to everyone and also return.

As the football was on our usual pub showing the game, we decided on getting takeaway. Been living nearby for 4 years and it's taken us this long to try the fabulous fish 'n' chips on offer, very tasty. Will definitely return.

We frequently go to the above. The owners work in the Bistro. The food is excellent and there is plenty of it. There is a children’s menu also. The price is excellent. The staff are very friendly and nothing is to much trouble. They also have party nights.

Ate here a couple of weeks ago with my family. The gentleman who served us was lovely and very attentive. Food was delicious and prices were reasonable. Great little place to visit for lunch.

Never eaten in the Bistro as we live close so prefer to take away & was concerned after it changed hands a year or so ago but have to say the standards are still as good.....Excellent food & friendly staff.......yes even the owner !!There are a few chippies in the local area (in the villages either side of Snaith) but none are as good as this one

We have eaten here loads of times and it is consistently excellent. The staff are friendly and very helpfull especially simon aka nellie the elephant.

Well worth the visit, superb restaurant area, very clean and well decorated. Fish and Chips excellent, good size portions, (perhaps a tad expensive), but its worth paying for the quality. Quick, pleasant and efficient servive

I've been here more than a few times now and I have never been disappointed. The fish is a very good size and not only freshly cooked but beautifully cooked, large portions every.

Had a fabulous meal for my sister in laws birthday. The fish was ginormous and very tasty and service was excellent . Thanks for a great meal

A definite recommend. The fish was so fresh and scrumptious. Was too late to sit in the restaurant section so had to have take away. Can't wait to visit again. A lovely village to have a wander around too.

We were so pleased we ignored the one bad review of this amazing place because it is spectacular.

Have eaten here for the last 5 years or so. The present owners Simon and Katie have not only maintained the standards of the previous owners but have even improved them. The fish and chips are as good as any I have ever tasted and Simon is quite an accomplished chef when he does his own thing. You can eat in the lovely surroundings of the conservatory for take out prices. Exceptional value and nothing is too much trouble for the owners and staff. We have taken at least 20 or so family and friends there and all have said that it is "terrific value". If you order the special fish be prepared to be out faced.

We found the Snaith Chippy by chance whilst looking for somewhere for an evening meal. It has a lovely seating area with nicely set tables. The owner welcomed us and explained the menu, pointing out the various ways the fish can be prepared and cooked according to your choice, very impressive! The quality and portions were superb. The owner had time to chat with us and told us about the local area. Altogether a lovely experience and highly recommended.

Visited The Snaith Chippy & Bistro on a Tuesday evening with my husband and his parents. We sat in the conservatory at the back of the Bistro, this overlooked a beautifully kept garden with an abundance of flowers and colours. The Bistro had ample seating, was clean and tastefully decorated. The lady who served us (who I think was the owner) was very friendly, chatty and courteous.

Fantastic place. Lovely place to sit in and have a meal, looking out over a beautiful garden. Really friendly staff and owners. Fish and chips were fantastic, really fresh and not greasy at all. Great menu with some healthier options and gluten free options. Thanks guys, would recommend to anyone.

Very good fair price good selection although not used bistro at back always sold out for special events

Good selection from chip shop and smart bistro in back nice attest on fish with friendly staff to assist it's on Snaiths Main Street but easily missed if you don't look for it well worth a visit if your in the area

The fish and chip is a very good asset to Snaith. The menu is very varied, you receive nice portions , and the staff are very cheerful and helpful. Overall good value for money in a nice clean environment in nice surroundings and history bring overlooked from the wrapped in history church of St Laurence which stands tall and proud directly opposite in Market Place Snaith

The chippy and bistro changed hands about two months ago but I can say that the service and food was excellent. They even had a Christmas garden at the back which the children loved. (So did I). I highly recommend a visit. We will be going back.

Went at Tea time and had Lunch/Early evening Special, advertised as 'small chips, fish, choice of peas, curry or gravy, 1 slice of bread and butter with tea' Fish was excellent, very well cooked and lovely crispy batter.Partner had Curry and chips. Small attention to detail lacking as Bread and Buttrr did not appear!

This Fish and Chip shop and Bistro at the back, is now under new management and what they have changed has made this place a brilliant place for takeaway or to eat in at the Bistro at the back. You can book their evening dinners which has a wide variety of food aon the menu. Simon your host is very personable and attentive and certainly looks after everyone. This is a really good asset to a market town that is already wonderful and all worth a visit.
