Food Express in East Riding of Yorkshire

Only used for delivery, wouldn't use anywhere else locally, always fresh, hot and exactly as described, friendly delivery staff too

Just been to FOOD EXPRESS HOWDEN. I got home to have no chips or kebab sauce. Called them and was told I would have to bring it "ALL" back in to "PROVE" that I hadn't been given them !!! 🤬🤬🤬 When I said "are you acusing me of lying" I was told "well we don't know if you got them and you are going to have to come in anyway" !!!!! I went back in and was accused of having eaten the chicken from the kebab !!! 🤬🤬🤬 I was rudely force given my money back and manager absolutely couldn't have been more disinterested. I didn't want my money back, I just wanted my tea !!! Shame, I have been going there for years but with the disgusting attitude of the staff I will NEVER go there again and others should seriously consider an alternative as well. Shop local, lol. Why would I when they can't even treat local people with respect.

Ordered burger with out chips,opened box theres cooked frozen oven chips in the box ,cook proper chips or dont serve them when requested not to ,wont be going back to that place ,get your fingers out and serve proper chips not frozen oven chips

Dona kebabs not any good now want pitta bread not nan bread

Use it a lot and the food is always excellent. Delivery is very good. A recommended takeout.

Sent the wrong pizza twice and didn’t send me a refund avoid this place if you can. Just refund the money for the pizza please

Overpriced tasteless and burnt. Over an inch of pastry around the edge with no cheese on bing twice I won't get burnt the third time. 👎

regularly order from here, tonight i ordered the chicken fillets and there different and disgusting, taste like cheap freezer food!

Cannot say that the food was bad because we have never got it in the first place. We have ordered quite large amount of food to the workplace, roughly 65 pounds worth of pizzas etc, asked for it to arrive at specific time when ordered the food nearly 2 hours earlier. We have waited over 20 minutes after the specified time only to be told that the food has not even been dispatched yet. People who were meant to get the food, wasted their whole lunchbreak waiting for food that wouldn't arrive in time for them to eat it. Extremely disappointed. When rang the phone, their excuse was that they have only got one driver however, the food was ordered nearly 2 hours prior and the takeaway had a plenty of time to organise this. Thankfully it was a cash order and I declined the delivery attempt after all this hassle. From my previous experience with this takeaway, I can say that the food is okay, they just need to improve their customer service and timekeeping.

Kebab was fantastic, but why do you have to build it yourself? They used to come ready made but now they are like an Airfix kit, all component parts?

Really disappointed tonight, regularly order from you guys and today ordered at 7.50pm and order confirmed for delivery in 1 hour. Called after an hour and a half wait to be told it’s been very busy and it will be a further 20 minutes. I appreciate it gets busy, a call to advise takes you no time at all and is a minimum level of customer service would you not agree? I am sure when our delivery arrives there will be no apology or removal of delivery charge or gesture to re order with you again. Very disappointed!

Customer Service is non existent, wether you order via phone, app or website it’s a 50/50 if they even record your order. Ordered by phone today, to when I arrive they claim there was no order, I had to show phone records that I even made an order. Not to mention the person on the phone couldn’t really understand what was being said, and had to be prompted as to what time I should come collect/ how much it would cost. Last week ordering by app, a DIY pizza, the pizza came with wrong toppings. Better takeaways that deliver from goole.

Ordered online, requested no veg on the pizza. Arrived covered in pepper and onion. My son is autistic and cannot tolerate this. Incredibly disappointed. I did try and pick it off but he knew and was nearly sick. Imagine if this was someone with an allergy!!! You really need to read your notes better, could be deadly.

Food is sometimes alright but only if you pick up. A recent order for delivery took over 90mins despite being only half a mile away, they said it would be within 45mins. Poor service and has gone downhill.

They charged me 9 pounds for donner meat and chips. Don’t go there

Shockingly awful. The service was terrible. Apparently they don’t take cards now so it’s cash only. I was told to order and go to cash machine. The food was so bad. Chicken that used to be real chicken is now breadcrumbed flattened chicken. Complimentary garlic bread inedible. Would not recommend and will never go again

Really quick, always clean aswell

Have used this takeaway business for the last three years, spending around £40 per week. The last month delivery time is quoted at 45 minutes however, real time was closer 1 hour 30 minutes. We were always patient m, but no more! They have increased their prices and the service and quality is incredibly poor. They need to train their junior staff who answer the phone on customer service, instead of the rude individuals they are. This company clearly earns too much money to not need owes….so long, we won’t be returning!

Again order was wrong and unfortunately it is the only pizza delivery place in Howden. Must try harder, it's all on the app!!

Going downhill this place. Everything seems to be lathered in salt.... Why?! If you want a heart attack then this place is sure to oblige.

The phone is so noisy the person who takes the order can't hear the customer. Phoned at 18:25 for an order and clearly gave the order and address. Had to call back at 20:15 to be told they couldn't find our address on their system. We have been customers for over 15 yrs but not any more. Better service and price available else where. Gave 2 stars as the food is OK. Might be better to visit and not get a delivery, but then again I'd eat anything lol

I had a mixed kebab tonight. Although the price was £13, I expected it to be far better than what I expected. The meat was perfect, and a lot of it to be honest, well, what I would expect for £13. But a few things let me down with it: 1) a single cheap pitta bread was included for all the meat, which I expected at least a specific wrap/nan for the meat. 2) all the meat, salad, pitta and sauces were all individually separated, meaning you've got to make it yourself.

Decent pizza (though stuffed crust is disappointing), loads of toppings. Free tomato garlic bread for orders over £16 - also decent. We also had cheesy chips wrap (delicious) and onion rings (very doughy).

Pizza on thin Italian base are beaut. Chicken burgers and chicken kebabs also really nice. Recently changed donner meat not so keen

So Called to make sure they read notes on order as each week they deliver and have to bring back food as they refuse to read notes, but yet again we call and get treated like rubbish so if you send order and it’s wrong you will be taking it all back never known a place to be so rude time to find new places to order

Good food, good service and fairly priced

We used to be regular customers of Food Express, Howden. I am not sure if it’s under new management but something has definitely changed there. The quality of the food, particularly the pizza but also the kebabs, has deteriorated. The last two orders we have had, the pizza has been dry with little if any tomato sauce on the base and the garlic tomato bread lacking garlic and again, very dry. The cheese on the pizza is foul. Needless to say, we won’t be giving them our custom again. Thankfully Howden has other takeaway options.

Order pizza and chips with a mate and was brilliant. Good portion sizes large chips can easily be shared between two people and have some left over defo would come back again

I can't be sure if this once excellent take away is now under new management, but sadly the food quality (pizza and garlic bread) was very poor on my last two visits. After the first recent visit at the end of August my tomato garlic bread was so bad that I threw it away (check out the photo - tomato sauce simply 'slopped' all over a dry, unpleasant base).i gave them the benefit of the doubt and visited again a week later thinking maybe it was just a bad day previously - bad days can happen and that's ok. But, alas, the same thing! Was told I'd get a free garlic bread too on the first visit but it was not included. However, although the pizzas are awful, the donner kebabs are quite good - very tasty. They need to start using fresh dough instead, and start make pizzas for adults rather than something maybe suitable for a 5 year-old's quick lunch. Disappointed in all! Shame, because there are no other take aways for a decent pizza in the town right now.

Ordered 3 wraps over the phone for delivery, asked if there was a free garlic bread on delivery and the guy on the phone said yes. We got told a 45 min max for delivery which was fine... 1 hour and 10 minutes passed and still no sign of any food. We called them up and got told “we was the next order out” 1 hour and 25 minutes later our food turned up. Well we wish it hadn’t! Order was partly wrong and no garlic bread? Chips undercooked in wrap. (I actually think they had forgotten about our order) Rang them back to ask about the garlic bread as if we knew they didn’t do free ones for delivery we would of ordered one anyway.. couldn’t be bothered to explain that the order was wrong because we was that hungry we just ate it. Guy we spoke to over the phone was very rude and said “ok I send you garlic bread and put phone down” the garlic bread Turned up 35 minutes later! Won’t be revisiting. We used to use food express years ago, we tried it as a one off, sadly won’t be going back any time soon! AVOID! Stick to other takeaways nearby, much nicer!

Over priced rubbish ! Ordered kebab it was oozing in fat it was dripping off as you picked it up , very bland tasting and chips were hard and dry. Left it on side overnight to put in wheelie bin in morning when I opened box there were balls of white fat in the corners of the box 🤢 disgusting !!! Lost a customer

Phoned for food at 10pm and they said they weren't delivering. Not exactly what I call 'food express'. Poor, won't bother next time and have lost a customer.

Only live in howden despite trying food from here and once being regular customers we won’t be using it again had around a dozen bad experiences in last few months with very poor quality food tonight being the last straw food arrived stone cold pizza chicken and chips ‘chips were stale save your money put a pizza in the oven from your freezer as you will have to re heat your takeaway up anyway and the pizza from your freezer will be much nicer

Used food express many times but won't be using again dry food and cold not the same salad I piece of cucumber and one piece of tomato 🍅

Always a fast and friendly service

I was once a loyal customer of Food Express, but then the prices increased above and beyond my expectations. As a result I didn’t go again for almost a year, until tonight. Tonight I went back, let’s see how things have gone after 12 months? Well, I wish I hadn’t!! Let’s start with the positives, pizza was cooked well, looked well but overloaded with cheese. The fries were cooked well, crispy and very tasty. I ordered half and half, one of the halves (Mexican Pie) stated “hot” on the menu, let’s just say it wasn’t, not even remotely spicy?? Why advertise “hot” and it isn’t?? This needs addressing. On the menu, it stated free garlic bread with tomato on collection orders over £14, my order amounted to £14.60 but no free garlic bread?? I questioned it, I was told “due to price changes” not sure what that ment?? I couldn’t be bothered to ask any further questions, so I left. Anyway, looks like it will be another 12 months before I visit Food Express again. Sorry guys!!

Had pizzas and burgers with grandchildren, ordered over the phone, very friendly staff, order delivered very promptly, was hot and delicious, would definitely recommend.

The chicken and lamb shish kebabs are fantastic, tomato breads are freshly made and the staff are polite and friendly.

After using food express since opening in 2002 I have not been impressed by my last couple of take aways. The portion sizes seem to be getting less and less and the quality seems to be following suit. This is a real shame because in my opinion this was the best fast food in the area.

Quick, good, tasty food. What more can you want from your take-away. The staff are always friendly, the prices are fair. I go here at least once a month.

This used to be a regular visit when working late in the office. Great donner and chicken kebabs, that are cooked fresh and to order. Chicken use is fresh marinated - no pre-prepared rubbish used here. If spent over £10 and collected order, you get free garlic bread. :)

Absolutely bang average. Expensive but the chips are good.

Great choice and short lead time. I can recommend the Pepperoni, be sure to splash out on some xtra mushrooms, fab value in my opinion. Delivery available but I prefer to go in person and catch a quick pint across the road whilst the pizza's being prepped.

We get a takeaway from here on average once a month and have never had anything we dislike. The pizzas are good and have a decent amount of topping but aren't soggy and the chicken and sheesh kebabs are tender and not dry. The tomato garlic bread is also yummy.

Well when I am working late and come home all I want is something fast and this place has never let me down, every time I go in the staff are so friendly and the quality of the food is very good, I have never had a bad experience yet. The service is great and you don't have to wait a long time. Highly recommend this place.

¿Qué puedo decir? Comida casera fresca y siempre delicioso. Tuvimos el kebab mixto (koftas para morirse), viene con un pan pitta calentada, bañera grande de ensalada, yogur y salsa de chili que es simplemente muy rico. Tuve como siempre el pollo shish kebab (cordero y pollo) con igual que arriba, pero siempre con una bañera de casa hizo col que es excelente. Como pasamos más de £12 ponen casero de tomate y pan de ajo, que es simplemente delicioso. El personal es siempre amable y sin duda es un lugar para volver. Sigan así chicos!!

Nunca una decepción cuando ordenes de comida Express. Yugel (George) y el equipo hace un buen trabajo. Nearly always fast efficient and cheery service, but would like to see a better Food Standards Hygiene rating

Food seems ok, although their food standards hygiene rating is poor at only 1. Mostly happy and welcoming with one exception who`s attitude seems indifferent at best. Fast service though even when they seem busy.

This is a brilliant Take Away-all fresh ingredients and food cooked to order-and they deliver! I would recommend the Chicken Wraps-very reasonably priced too.

You watch them cooking their standards are very high.The service is very good indeed.The food is good.I eat from here on average twice a week.They cook for me more than the wife does.

Clean and friendly place with the best pizzas ever. They've recently extended their menu to include stuffed crust pizzas too. Great for children's early tea or for that late night snack on way home from the pub!

Can't really go wrong, service with a smile, and a bit of banter, chicken wraps lush, delivery within 30 min if not sooner, and delivery charge very reasonable. Worth a visit. Only quarm is its a bit dear.
